Let this sit for an hour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, using a blender, puree the other ingredients. Different versions of what we now call Irish Coffee go back at least 100 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The major story is that Joseph Jackson, of Jackson\u2019s hotel Ballybofey county Donegal, made the drink while fighting in World War II in an effort to keep his comrades awake through the night. According to historians, the caipirinha was invented by farmers in the region of Piracicaba, the interior of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo, during the 19th century. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They created the cocktail as a local drink for parties and it showcased the strong sugarcane culture of the region. \u2018Caipirinha\u2019 is the diminutive of \u2018caipira\u2019, which in Brazilian Portuguese refers to someone from the countryside, similar to the U.S.\u2019s use of the word <em>hillbilly<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s what you need:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1.7 oz cacha\u00e7a<\/li><li>Half a lime cut into 4 wedges<\/li><li>2 teaspoons sugar<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Muddle the lime and sugar together in an old fashioned glass.
