A Greek restaurateur introduced the bite back in the 70s on the East Coast of Canada, in Halifax. Originally made with lamb, beef was substituted and the legendary East Coast Donair was born. The most well known might be the <strong>ketchup chips<\/strong>. Yes, you either love or hate the condiment, but when you travel to Canada, you can try it in chip form too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Tourti\u00e8re<\/strong> is a savory meat pie enjoyed usually during the holidays, but can be found year-round in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 More chips! <strong>All-dressed chips<\/strong> combine the flavors of ketchup, barbecue, sour cream and onion, and salt and vinegar. These chips are incredibly popular and have been described as a \u201cslightly elevated barbecue chip.\u201d Try them out for yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Nanaimo bars<\/strong> are layered bars with a crumb base layer, custard, and a thin layer of chocolate on top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Lobster rolls <\/strong>are popular in Canada, for good reason. If you like seafood and if you love lobster rolls, then you absolutely need to try them when you\u2019re in Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Travel to Canada and get your hands on <strong>Timbits from Tim Horton\u2019s <\/strong>or <strong>Tim Horton\u2019s<\/strong> in general. Tim Horton\u2019s does not exist everywhere, so try the infamous fast food\/coffee\/doughnut place while you can. Timbits are similar to Munchkins, but not the same!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Peameal bacon<\/strong> is made from lean boneless pork loin that is trimmed, wet-cured, and rolled in cornmeal. According to everyone that lives in Canada, it is absolutely a must try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Montreal-style smoked meat<\/strong> is the result of beef brisket salted and cured for a week with spices. It\u2019s then smoked and steamed. It doesn\u2019t sound very appetizing, but it works.
