Rushing through the airport in fear of being late practically invites other anxieties into your space. The feeling of being flustered doesn\u2019t simply go away when you sit in your seat, it takes some time to calm down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t rush, but don\u2019t spend too much time at the airport.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.journohq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/airport-waiting.jpeg\" alt=\"airport waiting\" class=\"wp-image-7824\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>While you\u2019re sitting and waiting in the airport, the fear of flying can really manifest and grow. So don\u2019t let that happen! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Distract yourself with a puzzle, a TV show, a book. Just don\u2019t spend too much time waiting by the gate. If you are waiting for a while, spend your time in an airport lounge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fake it til you make it.&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.journohq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/airport-window.jpeg\" alt=\"airport window\" class=\"wp-image-7825\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>What?! What do you mean? What we mean here is sometimes, mind over matter really works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can tell yourself you\u2019re okay, that you\u2019re not afraid to fly and think about what other people who aren\u2019t afraid to fly might be thinking. This might be difficult at first, but if you really put your mind to it &#8211; we know you can do it! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Remember the safety protocols.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.journohq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/airport-safety.jpeg\" alt=\"airport safety\" class=\"wp-image-7823\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Remind yourself of the safety protocols that all airlines have to follow and the employees that are hired specifically to keep you safe. These are the TSA workers, the airline staff, the stewardesses, the pilots, all of the above! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each airplane is checked thoroughly before each flight. If anything is wrong, the flight is delayed and the problem is fixed or a new plane is brought in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Familiarize yourself with the aircraft.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.journohq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/safety.jpeg\" alt=\"safety\" class=\"wp-image-7838\" width=\"720\" height=\"720\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can familiarize yourself with the aircraft either while you\u2019re booking your seat or with a quick Google search, this could help calm you or come in handy later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you find your fear is creeping in, pull out a picture of the map and remind yourself of the exits. Take a minute to read the safety brochure in front of your seat. There\u2019s nothing wrong with having a drink in the airport or on the plane to help keep you calm. If you\u2019re able to relax and fall asleep, then the flight goes by much faster. Thus, you will essentially sleep your way through any fear of flying you have. Of European hikes and waterfalls? Of spending a week with your long-distance bestie?
