Look no further.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here are 10 magical light displays around the world.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diwali in India<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B4H6FSTAc9v\/?utm_source=ig_embed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.journohq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/light-displays_1.jpeg\" alt=\"light displays\" class=\"wp-image-7178\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, usually celebrated for about five days between the middle of October and the middle of November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diwali has been connected to many Hindu gods and goddesses including Sita, Rama, Vishnu, Krishna, and the most commonly associated: Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In preparation for Diwali, participants clean their homes and decorate. Once the celebration starts, the participants dress their best and illuminate both the inside and outside of their homes with diyas (oil lamps or candles), offer puja or worship to the goddess, light fireworks, and partake in family feasts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The word Diwali, comes from a Sanskrit term, <em>d\u012bp\u0101vali<\/em>, meaning \u201crow or series of lights.\u201d The combined term is derived from the Sanskrit words <em>d\u012bpa<\/em>, &#8220;lamp, light, lantern, candle, that which glows, shines, illuminates or knowledge&#8221; and <em>\u0101vali<\/em>, &#8220;a row, range, continuous line, series&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With fireworks and lanterns illuminating homes and workplaces, it\u2019s no wonder this celebration is called the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.journohq.com\/blog\/5-harvest-season-festivals-around-the-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"festival (opens in a new tab)\">festival<\/a> of lights!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lantern Festival in China&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BxtE95yBA8m\/?utm_source=ig_embed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.journohq.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/light-displays_4.jpeg\" alt=\"light displays\" class=\"wp-image-7181\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lantern Festival or the Spring Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival that celebrates the final day of traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.journohq.com\/blog\/10-chinese-new-year-facts-you-may-not-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Chinese New Year (opens in a new tab)\">Chinese New Year<\/a> celebrations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. During this incredible display of lights all over, children carry paper lanterns and solve riddles on the lanterns.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In ancient times, the lanterns of participants were fairly simple. It was only the noblemen and the emperor who had large, detailed, ornate lanterns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing is for sure, today, there are thousands of colorful, creative lanterns flown by everyone who celebrates.
