Tysons

This trip has been a year in the making.

Mama Allen just turned 60 yesterday -to celebrate we’re doing a girls trip to Myrtle Beach. It’s the first time in a very long time all four of us ladies have traveled together and my niece is also with us. Adventures await!

Before we officially started our road trip, however, we attended the premiere of Volta in Tyson’s Corner.

Thanks to my brother in law Bryan for scoring tickets for us.

The three of them drove from Michigan all day just in time to make it to the show.

My niece and I visited the MAC table for glitter and red lips.

......

Miss Sassypants and I also went to see Aladdin at the Kennedy Center.

The genie was awesome!!

Little diva ❤️

2
Potomac Mills

And we’re officially on our way.

Do we pack light? \240Never.

But first some mani-pedis.

3
The Pit Durham

Stopped for some Carolina BBQ in Durham

We ordered a 4 meat plate with 2 sides and still couldn’t finish it. They served it with three types of Carolina sauce.

I also tried a Watermelon Lager.

Yum!!

4
Lulu's Cafe

We made it!!!

First stop was Lulus Cafe for lunch and the first cocktail of the trip.

Mom: Margarita

Me: Palm Bay (coconut rum, pineapple and cranberry juice)

Fish tacos for the win.

5
DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront

The room wasn’t ready so we headed to the beach for the afternoon.

Toes in the sand. Waves in the water.

We’re all in heaven right now.

6
Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade

Today started off with a 10 miler. The boardwalk is about 2.7 miles from the hotel so we ran down ocean blvd to get there.

My sister is much faster than I am, but she stuck with me the whole way, even when I had to walk.

After the 10 miler, it was time for pool time recovery, which also included dranks.

Brooke and I both started with a blue hurricane: blue curaçao, coconut rum & pineapple juice.

Reading by the pool.

This is what’s called: living my best life.

While Brooke and I were enjoying pool time, mom, Maygon and Lorelai went to the Aquarium

And then we all reunited for some good old beach time.

I love my sisters.

Mom repping Sparr, MI

Toes in the sand

Beach babes

My niece was afraid of the ocean ......but quickly got over it

Happy hour 🍹🍹

For dinner, we decided to head to the boardwalk. We shopped a little, but mostly we were hungry

We ended up at Pier 14 restaurant. Because we were dining in, we were able to walk the pier for free otherwise there is a small fee.

Walking along the boardwalk.

Frozen drinks are a must sometimes.

7
Getaway Adventures

One thing that was on our to do list was to take a dolphin cruise.

We decided to do an 8 am cruise with Getaway Adventures because they offer discounts for the earlier cruise.

Adventures await on the Atlantic.

(As you can see, were all very much awake)

Lots of fisherman out!!

Enjoying the cruise out from the inlet to the big blue ocean

Our guide was telling us that the shrimp boats haven’t been out for the last few weeks, so the fact they were out today was a good sign. Shrimp boats = good sightings for dolphins.

There was a jet ski tour going on at the same time and we can across them all gathered close to a dolphin pod!!!! \240I don’t think any of us liked the idea of the jet skis chasing after the dolphins.

We didn’t see any big jumps but I could have stayed there watching them skim the surface.

Skyline in the background.

And these guys caught a shark!!!

Ocean Adventure is over for the morning.

DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront

Of course, that now means more pool time

Today: strawberry daiquiris

(Feeling a little guilt over all the plastic cups and straws):

My niece and I relaxing in the pool.

My sister and niece goofing around.

Beached whale alert! \240(I kid - cuz every body is a beautiful body).

And when we get tired of the pool, we head to the beach.

I may be standing in front of the ocean,

but in my ❤️, I’m always a Great Lakes girl.

Beach hair: don’t care

9
The Noizy Oyster

We decided to divide and conquer our Tuesday night: mom and Brooke went to the baseball game, Maygon and Lorelai went to visit some friends that were staying up the road, and I went in search of that thing called oyster.

Views while I was chatting with my boss about work🙄

I was originally going to a place called Dirty Don’s Oyster Bar down on the Boardwalk, but the outside seating area was small and crowded, so I decided to walk the 1/2 mile to another place with great reviews: the Original Shuckers restaurant and raw bar.

It looked and sounded promising.

In fact, it’s known for being a local hangout. Always my favorite kind of place.

Still looks promising.

Ooh it’s a bit divey inside - even better.

And then I got the oysters and they were swimming in ice, so instead of tasting the salty juice, I got water and mush. Not how one should eat their oysters. I was going to stay and get a steak, but this was disappointing me and some of the locals enjoyed happy hour a little too much, so I decided to move along.

To a place just a block up the road called the Noizy Oyster. \240They had craft beer from a local joint. And I ordered 1/2 dozen oysters from here - perfection. Not swimming in ice; salty and briny;
