Dwight D. Eisenhower Hwy, West Terre Haute, IN 47885, USA

Left the house this morning at 9:30. \240Today we’re headed to St.Louis. I didn’t get any pics in front of the house because I was concerned about Bob and getting him in the rv. He slowly came out of his pack but immediately crawled under the couch. I eventually put a bed under there for him, and he hung there for a while until I got him out and showed him the bedroom area. He burrowed behind the pillows and is still there. The camper is very rickety. Every time we hit a bump on the road, it’s a loud bang. \240 I can’t say I blame him. I’m already for us to park this thing! \240😂 Might be a long trip!

2
DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park

We rode our bikes across the bridge to the arch.

You can see the Draft King Casino which is where our RV Park is located.

We bought our annual National park pass, a coloring book, sweatshirt, toffee and stickers to put on our water bottles.

3
192-100 Bogy Ave, East St Louis, IL 62201, USA

Leaving St. Louis. Cool city!

Our first Walmart stop…fits right in to the parking lot.

The cute seat covers I bought for the RV! 🤣

4
Joe's KC BBQ

Went through Kansas City, so of course had to stop in and get some BBQ from Joe’s BBQ! \240

And drove by Taylor’s Fiancé’s football stadium as we went through the city! 🪓🪓

Got some work done too…nice to have a table!

5
1838 Old 40 Hwy, Junction City, KS 66441, USA

Just stopped for the night. We are at an RV park right off the interstate. I would call this basically a mobile home park. These are not our people! 😂 I am not posting pictures of this one.

A few of you have asked about Bob though, and I can talk about him. He’s been burrowed under the covers all day while we’ve been driving.

Are we done moving yet???!!

Nope. 👎🏽

Bob came out/was dragged out from under the covers by us when we stopped to hook up the rv to the power. \240He proceeded to find his spot under the couch again and that’s where he is right now. He did get brave last night and explored the whole rv at about 2am…just to get back at us I think! 😂 Hopefully he gets brave a little earlier tonight!

Bob update: \240he’s been roaming all over the RV!

Jump Start

Back on the road again and at our first gas stop. Jason has been wanting an actual atlas to draw our route on, and we still haven’t found one at any of our stops…even Walmart! 😂 I had one clerk tell me he can’t remember the last time he saw one. \240We’re driving 6 1/2 hours today…our longest leg. We’re staying in Colorado tonight. I’ve gotten most of the squeaks and rattles figured out and \240stabilized now. \240I won’t say it’s quiet, but definitely quieter! \240

The stove top was guilty of being the squeakiest culprit.

Paper towel jammed under the blinds shut it up.

Chip clips came in handy on this one.

Also here.

Finally, a washcloth wedged between the closet doors stopped that horrible squeak. Whoever thought mirrored doors in a moving vehicle was a good idea anyways!??

After I fixed all those, I enjoyed my coffee. 😂

Here are our new water bottles with our first National park stickers on them.

7
300 Hamilton St, Syracuse, KS 67878, USA

We stopped to refuel and eat lunch in the RV. \240I have to say, that’s a big check on the Pro side of RV life for me! \240It’s so nice to just have everything with us instead of eating fast food all the time.

Progress for Bob, too! \240He popped his head out of the covers when we stopped and even took a lap around the RV. \240Then went back under covers when Jason started messing with the generator because that’s too noisy evidentally. 🥹

To be fair to Bob, I did slip a little cat treat melatonin in his breakfast to help him calm his nerves a little.

Back on the road, headed to LaJunta, CO next!

8
KOA RV. Park & campground

We made it to our first stop in Colorado. It’s a nice campground with a few caboose train cars around.

Bob reluctantly came out of hiding after we were parked for a while and started exploring again. He even jumped up into the upper loft.

This is the sun shade Judy sent us. It came in handy because it’s really hot parked directly in the sun!

It was a happy surprise that our campground is next to a Dominos and a Walmart. We walked over and bought some canned oxygen for when we get a little higher altitudes. Then we picked up pizza and came back to watch some football. Unfortunately only the Michigan game was still on, but we watched anyways. (Congrats Gwen) 🤪 Tomorrow we drive another 5 hours until our next stop still in Colorado.

9
CO-10, Walsenburg, CO 81089, USA

We’re back on the road this morning toward our second stop in Colorado. We can see the first mountain range in the distance. It’s still a little hazy.

But…what’s not hazy is this HUMONGOUS tarantula that was just crossing the road in front of us as we’re driving 65 mph down the road!! 🕷️😲😱 Jason and I both saw it so it had to be huge. I don’t even have my glasses on! \240Here’s hoping that’s the only one we see on this trip! 🤞🏼

10
Riverwood RV Resort

We made it to Mancos, CO. \240The park is on the Mancos River, which is really pretty.

We rode our bikes into the little town and grabbed dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. We think we’re both feeling the altitude effects. We’re at 7,300 ft. Elevation and I have a slight headache. We’re watching Bob closely for any effects, but he’s taking it in stride.

We saw some pretty sights on our way here.

Jason and I found ourselves encouraging Arvie (her just now appointed nickname) \240to make it up the inclines today. At one point he said, “I think I can, I think I can” 😂 It’s a loud engine, just like the rest of her. \240She likes to make her presence known! \240

11
Four Corners Visitor Center

We’re back on this road this morning heading to Lake Powell in Page, Arizona. We stopped along the way at the Four Corners Monument. Jason stood in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah at the same time.

The lady before him in line got down and did a back bend in all 4 corners, but Jason opted for the traditional pose! 😂

We bought some new stickers for our bottles from the Navajo people that were selling things in the vendor booths.

Jason thought this sign was especially funny… “out back” parking might be in the valley??!😬

12
Ken's Tours Lower Antelope Canyon

We arrived in Page and got Arvie into her spot. Really cool area. We are by far the trashiest camper in the hood! 😂

We caught a ride from the campground shuttle \240down the road to Ken’s Canyon Tours. We went down in the Lower Antelope Canyon. It’s on the Navajo reservation and you can only see them by tours because there can be flash floods. The pictures here are amazing!

We bought two new stickers to put on our Owalas. 😀

13
Antelope Point Marina & RV Park

Went to the marina restaurant tonight at the park we’re staying. It’s a really neat place. We’re looking forward to renting a boat from here tomorrow and heading out to Lake Powell.

View from our site.

The marina restaurant

14
Antelope Point Marina

We took our time today since it’s our first day staying in the same place. I used the gas stove for the first time and made us scrambled eggs and toast in the toaster. Evidentally Arvie can only take so much power draw at once though because I blew the breaker making toast, coffee, charging a phone, and the air conditioner. Oops! 😬 My bad. The toast was worth it though. (Crescent bread for those that haven’t tried it yet!!)

So we hitched a ride from Cart Service down to the marina, which is like a roller coaster ride in itself! \240I took a short video last night going back up from dinner.

I think we’re going back down to the restaurant again tonight, so I’ll try to remember to take a video in the daylight. \240It’s one to remember! For our ride going down earlier today to our boat rental we had another couple with us from the RV park and the man was riding backward on the golf cart and I don’t think I would’ve agreed to that! 🤪

So, we rented our pontoon and headed out onto Lake Powell. It’s kind of a trip because it’s on the border of Arizona and Utah, so there’s a time change as you go around the lake.

This is leaving the marina and shows the restaurant we ate at last night.

Honestly, the pictures don’t do it justice for the scope of how big the lake is and the canyon were down in.

This is just one of the bays we were in. It’s massive!

We each got new Lake Powell stickers. ❤️

Bob did not like the awning overhead. Two paws down would not recommend! 🐾

15
Horseshoe Bend Overlook Parking Lot

We got on the road this morning to head out of Page toward Zion. We stopped along the way to see Horseshoe Bend Overlook of the Colorado River. It’s really cool to see and honestly does tricks to your eyes when looking down on it.

These guys are idiots and I was pretty sure I was going to see one of them back off the cliff to get their selfie!

We do enjoy having our exclusive RV parking at most of these stops! 😂

DAM.

This caption is for Payton. We thought his Insta post of his pic when we saw the Hoover Dam was so funny. Miss you, Love you Payt! ❤️

16
Zion Lodge Up-Canyon, Utah 84737, USA

We made it to Zion! There are two ways into Zion National Park…from the East and from the West. Since we were coming from the east, you’d assume we’d take that route, but that requires you go through a mile long tunnel through the mountain with hairpin turns. And because RV’s are so long, you have to get a special permit to go through the tunnel escorted. So they literally stop oncoming traffic and let the RV pass through all by itself since it will have to cross over the centerline to make the turns. We did not want to be the assholes that stopped traffic so our princess Arvie could pass, so we drove around the south side to enter the park from the west. It only added an extra 30 minutes to the drive and was much more manageable roads.

We’re staying at Zion Canyon Campground and RV park that is only a half mile walk to the entrance of the park, and in the little town of Springdale. \240It reminds me of being in a ski town. \240Everything is walkable. Our plan is to explore the town tomorrow and we decided to stay here a second night.

This is our campsite for the first night. Right on Virgin River for you fans of the show out there!

We saw Roadrunner! \240Meep meep!

This is us at the beginning of the hike known as The Narrows.

So I wanted to include this set of videos and pics to show how we arrived at this grueling appearing hike. We chose to walk the easiest hikes listed, and this one was called The Riverwalk. It was 1.5 miles on a sidewalk. Not kidding, there was actually a dude walking it with crutches! \240 We did pass him on the left BTW. \240😂 At the end of that sidewalk is where the actual difficult hike BEGINS! \240We opted to walk down into the dried part of the riverbed to take this pic, making sure to keep our feet dry.

This shows the “grueling” path we endured to get there!

So what we already knew, but reinforced today is that we are not hikers. We enjoy seeing things along the easy paths, but don’t feel the urge to push ourselves to ascend to the top! We’re pretty content to take the free shuttle to the top, look around, do the easy hikes(walks) and then get back on the free shuttle to get down! 😂 I joked with Robbin and Charlie Edwards as they were coaching me through which hikes to do that I was just going to use their picture from the most difficult hike here and pretend it’s my pic. I’m not going to do that, but I am sharing their pic here!

This is Robbin’s pic from the top of the rim at Angel’s Ridge. Yes, this is really beautiful, but I’m ok with not seeing this view in person. 🤪

In case you didn’t know, do NOT squat on the toilet!🤦🏽‍♀️

We made it back to Arvie in time to get our Fantasy Football draft teams made.

And mine is going to stink this year! 😂

17
Zion Canyon Campground and RV Resort

Update for today. We decided to stay in Zion for another night, so we had to move to another site a few over since our river site was taken for tonight. So, we just moved over a bit….kinda like we did in our Colony Woods houses! 😆 We decided today we’re going to “hike” the street of Springdale and check out the cool shops and park around here. \240We might head back into Zion…might not…we’ll see! \240Here are my views from today so far though.

First off, these are our stickers from Zion yesterday.

Had to show this precious commodity here…these gold coins. Each person is given 1 PER DAY at the campground. It is good for 6 MINUTES of water in the shower. \240Doesn’t matter if you want hot or cold…only 6 minutes per day per person! 🤣

This was my workspace this morning. ❤️

View walking away from Arvie and Bob.

Jason and I decided to find a breakfast place and landed here at Meme’s cafe. We sat outside on their covered patio to eat. I was taking these pics of the gorgeous view.

We were enjoying our meal. \240The flies were a little annoying, but I thought to myself, “it’s nature…look how pretty it is around you”

And then this guy joined us.

I wished I’d thought to take a video so you have a better idea of scale. He just ambled through. I however was cornered in the back and if he’d decided to move any quicker, I would’ve cleared the half wall next to us to get away! \240😯🕷️

I think he knows Arvie encountered his cousin earlier in the trip and I’m pretty sure didn’t kill him, so we were allowed to live.

Now, hopefully, that will be our last tarantula encounter!!

18
Zion Canyon Campground and RV Resort

We are water people. It’s official. I mean, we knew it…but that’s just how it is. We “hiked” the streets of Springdale today. We went to the city park, did a little shopping, and then decided the pool at the campground looked inviting.

I know that real hikers would cringe that we layed out by the pool just a half mile from a national park, but that’s what we did and we were content! It was beautiful scenery to look at right from our chaise lounges. 🤣

This is Arvie at her new spot away from the river.

This was my sticker purchase for today.

Bob is always happy to see us…eventually. He does a lot of napping while we’re gone and doesn’t seem in any hurry to wake up.

19
3394 S Old Hwy 91, Cedar City, UT 84720, USA

We packed up and left Zion this morning and are heading to Bryce. We stopped in Hurricane on the way to refuel and I grabbed some coffee.

We opted to again take the longer way leaving Zion to get to Bryce to avoid the tunnel of death. 😉 We heard some horror stories sitting by the pool yesterday of some other RV travelers that decided to arrive by the way of the tunnel, and their stories reassured us we did not want to go that way!

We’re now on the highway and noticed the speed limit signs say 80! \240I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that before. We kinda laughed beaus there is no possible way we could hit that speed. Jason said it best, “Arvie trying to hit 80 would be like Maverick hitting Mach 10. 😉

Bob discovered a new cabinet today while I was getting dressed.

The plan for today is to arrive at Ruby’s RV campground, which is right outside of Bryce. They offer ATV tours, and horseback tours, which we might try. But our first plan is to just take the shuttle into the park and hike the amphitheater area to see the hoodoos.

I woke up today with the back of one knee feeling strained, like I have limited motion, so that’s probably going to influence my willingness to push it. And let’s face it, I was already mentally limiting myself! 🤣

We haven’t made a reservation for our next location. We’re planning to just stay at Bryce one night. It’s a higher altitude, at 7,400 ft. I’m a little nervous about the effects of altitude on Bob, so I want to be aware and not stay too high for too long of a time. So far, he hasn’t appeared affected, and I want to keep it that way!

If anybody has gotten this far in reading, we’re open to any suggestions on our next location! \240We’ve talked about Moab, Canyonlands, The Arches. \240But also maybe heading more north to see Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and Jenny Lake in Wyoming. We even considered heading to Salt Lake and rent a boat again, but I don’t see any RV/Marinas like we stayed at in Lake Powell. That’s going to be hard to top.

20
Rubys Inn Rv Pk Campground, Bryce Canyon City, UT 84764, USA

We made it to Bryce Canyon today. Our campground is a tiny city in itself right outside the park, called Ruby’s. They have shuttles that take you into the park and stopped at 5 different lookout points in the park.

Jason and I rode our bikes from the RV part of the complex, over to the stores and restaurants. We ate at an actual buffet. I can’t tell you the last time I’ve eaten at a buffet…definitely pre-Covid! \240I’ve never been to a Golden Corral, but this is how I imagine it would be. Not gonna lie…the food was pretty great! 😆

The park itself was pretty beautiful. Each of the stops you’re basically looking at the same thing, just different elevations and angles.

We decided to pack up and head to Moab tomorrow and stay two nights. We rented a jeep and can drive it into The Arches and Canyonlands. Should be fun!

21
US-89, Junction, UT 84740, USA

We packed up from Ruby’s, grabbed a few groceries, and hit the road toward Moab. We just passed Butch Cassidy’s house and neither of us really know what he did, other than he hung out with the Sundance Kid! 🤠🤠

It was really pretty driving through Red Canyon on our way out.

We got on our trusty RVlife app last night to book a reservation for two nights in Moab. I found one right in town that was rated a 9/10 and tried to make a reservation online. I got flagged at the checkout page saying I needed to send an email with pictures of Arvie to their management for them to decide if we would get approval to stay there!! 😯 They discriminate based on age! \240(Arvie’s, not mine!!) Let’s face it, I’m probably bringing down the typical age of traveler at these places!) Anyways, I emailed off some pictures of Arvie’s best sides in the sunlight, with the mountains behind her, at all the other parks that she was good enough for, but I still haven’t heard back! So….we are taking our business across the street with the other rejects! 🤪 I’ll send pics when we get there.

Jason just announced we’ve driven 2,000 miles so far! \240Go Arvie, Go!

UPDATE: Arvie got approved to go to the luxury RV park, but I told them we’d already made other (better) plans. Arvie is happy she can still draw all the boys to the yard. ❤️

I know this won’t do it justice, but look at the canyons we drove through to get to Moab. One, right after another. It was amazing.

22
Gemini Bridges

We rented a jeep in Moab. The rain stopped shortly after we arrived and got Arvie set up in her new spot. We headed out on our first jeep trail for beginners, Gemini Bridges.

23
Sun Outdoors North Moab

Jason and I stopped next door to our campground to grab dinner at the Proper Brewery. It was really good. We sat on the patio and I saw NO SPIDERS!

Then we went back to check in on Bob and Arvie beaus they’ve become fast friends now. I was overdue for a shower so I walked to the camp shower facilities. They’re the nicest we’ve been to yet. They were so clean and spacious! I was the only one in there so I snapped a few quick pics even.

Probably about 10 toilet stalls and 10 sinks.

Private shower stalls.

The dog park.

Arvie and the jeep I haven’t named yet.

I’m headed to the laundry facility and camp store next!

24
Sun Outdoors North Moab

We’ve been a little lazy this morning knowing we aren’t packing up and driving anywhere with Arvie today. We’re taking the jeep out today on a few off-road trails into the Arches. There’s also a cool looking bridge hike over the Colorado River we’re going to do. And then maybe go back into Canyonlands if we’re not too shaken up from the first trail ride.

I love the town of Moab! \240It’s really cute and has tons of restaurant and shop options. \240I’d love to explore those a little later too. We’ll see. But, this morning, we went to a donut place called Doughbirds. They only sell donuts, coffee and fried chicken. Not a bad menu in my book!

We grabbed a few donuts to try and the Boston Cream Pie was the hands down winner.

I made us some eggs and this was our view for breakfast.

Bob’s 2nd favorite hangout in Arvie. He has a clear view of the silly dogs at the dog park from here.

I feel like we crammed three days worth into one today! \240I have so many pictures that I’d bore you to death looking at them all! I’ll try to just highlight today.

We started out on an off-road trail called Dinosaur prints that takes you into a back entrance of The Arches National Park. We felt super VIP \240because there’s a requirement now to make a timed reservation to get into the park the normal way.

Fossilized dinosaur prints

Can you find Jason in this pic? \240He’s wearing a green shirt.

Our Jeepers

To be honest, 90% of “The Arches” looked more like penises. 😬

I thought these were cool. They look like a family huddled together.

After The Arches, we drove into town to grab lunch at the Food Truck Park. It was so cute, and I had an awesome fried chicken salad. (I like to put fried chicken in a salad to be healthy like that!)

Next, we headed over to a park with a bridge over the Colorado River.

We explored the town of Moab and did a little shopping. We bought a few more stickers for our water bottles.

I found a Sotheby’s office!

We took a little break to check on Bob and Arvie, then decided to head to Dead Horse State Park Overlook to see the sunset.

My pictures look like postcards!

I think I could frame some of these. It was impossible to take a bad pic!

We were at the overlook where Thelma and Louise drove their car off into the sunset!

After the sunset, we were driving home and I saw the MOON rise out from the mountain! 🌕🌙

I captured this pic on the drive home. This is the moon.

We ordered some pizza from a recommendation that Robbin had. It did not disappoint!

After a long day…we’re all wiped!
