Tubac

Teresa and Mike arrived from Ohio at 9:30 AM \240ish and after collecting their luggage we were off to Tubac and lunch at Elvira’s. \240 As always the margaritas and food were yummy!

Thursday evening it was chilly, rainy, and cool and after a big lunch we had leftovers and salad for dinner, but of course cocktails and wine ( 2006 Burgess merlot)plus champagne for a few and scotch for others.

Jeff had his retirement countdown calendar out several times

Friday morning Olivia enjoyed her new cat video called Video Catnip.

Friday afternoon we ventured up to Mount Lemmon. \240The roads had been closed early due to ice but reopened in early afternoon. \240 We enjoyed the drive up the mountain and though due to weather we couldn’t go all the way to the top it was still a wonderful trip. \240 We had lunch at the Iron Gate Restaurant. \240The view from the lookout was excellent and there was snow on the ground!

Mere, Ed and Maribella arrived Friday evening and we enjoyed a fire at the fire pit. \240If the mountains are pink it is time to drink. \240The fire and cocktails was followed by a wonderful family dinner. \240 Jeff made risotto and served a special 2008 Flora Springs wine, 2008 Out of Sight. \240Afterward we had champagne, whiskey and more wine while we played a card game. Jeff also tried on various hats and wigs to check out new styles. \240Olivia was very interested in the wigs.

We stayed up very late and everyone got quite edgy after midnight when we we decided to play a game on Saturday of who could use edge or edgy in conversation the most times. \240 The winner was never really declared, but Maribella was excellent at the game.

A busy day getting ready for the party. \240Everyone pitched in setting up tables and chairs, hanging banners, putting out drinks, plates, and napkins along with all the other party prep.

We did have a Bloody Mary break with lunch and watched the Ohio State game amid the party preparation.

Ed decided to work on the kitchen faucet and Olivia wasn’t sure about all the people in her house.

The band arrived at 5:30 for set up. \240 Whiskey and Bad Decisions played from 6:30-9:30 PM. \240The food truck, \240Holy Toledo Pizza arrived at 6:15 to start preparing the wings, pizza and salad for serving.

The family all had special t-shirts for the party indicating we were with the retired dude. \240 Jeff’s shirt said “Retired Dude”. It was fun and quite a surprise for Jeff.

Guests began arriving at 6:30 and many were still here when the band quit at 9:30. We hosted about 30 friends and family outside on the patio. \240It was a busy day and a lot of fun. \240The cake was a carrot cake, by retiree request and as a special treat we served a super magnum \240of 1996 Flora Springs Trilogy wine to the guests. Many guests danced to the music and a good time was had by all.

The family stayed up until 1:00 AM laughing and enjoying the time together.

Everyone was asked to wear the long hair trucker hat. \240It was fun and the pictures are hilarious!

Jeff had a Retirement Comment Book most guest signed by here are comments from family

Olivia was so very happy to be released from the cat room after the party she was willing to be loved by everyone
