After landing in Portland around noon, we checked into our hotel, Oxford Suites (Red Lyon was booked, unfortunately 😐)

We took the HOP ( public transportation ) into Portland where we explored Pioneer Square and the Pearl District.

Portland

Had a nice direct flight and arrived in Portland around noon. \240After checking into the hotel, we used public transportation to go into Portland to explore and, of course, eat.

We stayed at Oxford Suites at Jantzen Beach - top center of map - and went to Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland (see pix below).

Then off to the largest bookstore you have ever seen, Powell’s.

Two truths and a lie...most of you will know these:

1) I was captain of my college squash team.

2) I collect Buffalo Head nickels, which is appropriate on the Lewis & Clark the trail.

3) I have hiked down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and most importantly back out...3 times!

Western Texas Flyers - excellent musicians; all were national champions of some kind. Learned that Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys are really big with the cruising crowd!
