Auckland

I felt so excited because I was about to travel the world!!! We had a farewell party in Auckland with my cousin’s the night before our flight to Japan. After eating and playing, we needed to rest up for the plane. I slept on a bunk on the top and couldn’t wait to wake up and start our very long journey. I had to wake up at 5.30am. I was so tired and I couldn’t wake up straight away. I think I had abit too much fun with my cousins last night! I helped Mummy pack my things like my diary, my activity books, pencil case and books into my bag before we left for the airport. Here I am having lots of fun with my brother, Roman and cousins

Narita

It took a little over 11 hours on the plane from Auckland to Narita, Japan. Lucky there was plenty of things to do on the plane like watch movies, write in my diary, my activity books and play games. I have never been on the plane for that long before.

When we finally landed in Japan, it was very hot. I wanted to hurry and get off the plane and see where we were. I couldn’t wait to go to Disneyland and guess what?.....we stayed in a fairytale hotel and it was the most magical place I’ve ever seen!!!!!! It was so cool, it had a magic key that lit up a part of our room and there was a magical mirror too. I couldn’t believe my eyes

The next day I was full of excitement because it was time to go to Disneyland. We caught the Disney train to get there and it wasn’t long before we got to the huge gates.I had the best time, I went on 10 rides (crazy ay?) I always felt scared and nervous while waiting in line but I always ended up having a lot of fun. I saw the Disney characters and characters from famous children’s movies at the night parade while having pizza with my family. We were lucky enough to have family friends who live in Japan join us and help take us everywhere. My favourite ride was the ......

We spent all day and night at Disneyland before going back to our hotel for a good nights sleep. My Mummy told me that it’s the happiest place on earth and it really was.

Tokyo

On our final day in Japan, we went to Tokyo City. There were lots of people and the streets were so busy. We got to visit Sensoji Temple which is the oldest temple in all of Japan. It looked like something from the movies!

After we all made a wish inside the temple, we did some shopping and looked for a place to have lunch and cool down (it was super hot that day). The food in Japan was interesting and I was too scared to try some of it. We met a nice Japanese man while walking around, he gave us kids some lollies and wished us well. Japanese people are so friendly and always made us feel welcome. After lunch we made our way to the Sky Tree, the tallest building in Japan. It looked similar to the Sky Tower in Auckland. And guess what? They had an Avengers exhibition on at the time. My brother Roman is obsessed with superheroes so he was very very happy when we got to the Sky Tree.

We said goodbye to our family friends after the Sky Tree. It was very sad and I hope we get to go to Japan again so we can see them.

Japan

We woke up for the last time in our magical hotel and had a relaxing morning before leaving to go to the airport. I couldn’t believe it, we were finally going to France. I was feeling abit nervous mostly because we were about to see french people on the plane and my french wasn’t that good.

France

After a 12 hour flight from Japan, we arrived in to Paris, France. But our journey had not finished yet.. We drove for 5 hours before arriving to my Uncle’s house in La Rochelle. I was feeling very tired from all the travelling but I couldn’t wait to see his house.

My cousins, Karlos and Cruz were so excited to show us all their toys. Their house was massive and I couldn’t wait to settle in to my home away from home.

Île de Ré

Our first day in France, I woke up very happy but also very tired. My Uncle (who we were staying with) had a pool at his house. We had to wait for an hour before we could swim because it needed to get cleaned out first. When we finally got in the pool, it was cold but you just have to get use to it. The water was very deep for me. It was summer time in France and the sun doesn’t go down until 11pm every night. This meant we got to have more time to play and swim in the pool. I really love it in France because we got to do all sorts of fun things and see new places that I never knew existed.

Our first two days we chilled out and swam in the pool for as long as we wanted to. My Uncle went back to training so he could be a strong man. He plays rugby for La Rochelle. After his training, he came home and I was still in the pool. He wanted to swim with me and guess what? I LEARNED HOW TO SWIM! It was so much fun. My Uncle taught me and told me not to panic which made me feel confident in the water. Over the next few days, I was always in the water practicing. The more I practiced the better I got.

It was pretty cool waking up to our very own pool every day.

After a couple of days at home, we started to go out and about to see the island of Ilé De Re. I always wanted to stay home and swim In the pool but I also didn’t want to miss out on the fun adventures of exploring this beautiful place we were at.

Ilé De Re is an island that you can only get to on a big long bridge from La Rochelle. My mum called it “French village” living. It had a really relaxed feeling to it. You could walk, drive or cycle around the island. There were beautiful beaches close by too.

Over the next week, we met and got to spend time with some kiwi rugby players and their families who also live in La Rochelle. That was pretty cool especially for me because my brother had my cousins, Karlos and Cruz to play with and I was the only girl in the house.

One of the best things I love about France is how they have rides, carousels, games, just about everything kids love in every single town. The bigger the town, the more rides there’ll be. It was so awesome!!! We got to go on at least one ride every time we went out. Here are some photos and videos of us out and about enjoying the rides:
