We visited Wooster Square Park in New Haven to catch the cherry trees blooming. They are just past full bloom and starting to shed cherry blossom petals.
Petal snow
This afternoon we visited the Yale campus where Tadao is going to school.
One of the unique buildings on campus is the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Portions of the walls where windows would typically be are covered in thin marble that allows in some light but not enough to deteriorate the books. It’s a very interesting space!
So many books!
Tonight we went to eat at Mory’s in New Haven and see the Wiffenpoofs perform. They are the worlds oldest collegiate a cappella group. They sang several sets over the course of dinner and were really good!
A very short video of them is below.
Tadao, our nephew attending Yale, \240below with dessert.
A funny plaque on one of the restaurant tables.
Today we took a nice walk in the woods. There were many signs of spring.
Maybe beavers in the neighborhood?
A lovely sunset from the house we’re staying in.
Rocky Neck State Park is a great outdoor area with forest, marshland and beach just down the road from where we’re staying.
Beach and shoreline.
Three types of seaweed.
Laura and Jessee.
An egret. We also saw Ospreys and a woodpecker.
And a giant old turtle.
Got to spend some time in the main library at Yale today. It’s really something! The architecture all around campus is gorgeous.

One of many tempting Library reading nooks.

Fancy janitors closet. Check out the engravings above the door.
We ended the day with a Yale Symphony Orchestra performance in which Tadao played the French Horn.
