The Shabby Abbey 😂 Our Motel in town - first night

This zoo is bugging out (in our Mercedes) 🐒

All the street art reminiscent of Melbourne and Miami.

Many aesthetically pleasing sites around every \240corner - lots to make you smile amidst the ruins and rebuilds

Had goosebumps arriving and quite overcome with emotion imagining the horror that unfolded here...😔

Tony and I stayed in this hotel a bit during our previous work lives, right next door to the cathedral (Heritage?)

So lucky with the beautiful weather travelling \240to Hanmer today. Loved our city tour - Christchurch was nearly unrecognisable with so much new construction and different landmarks. The New Brighton pier was resplendent in the blazing sun. We enjoyed watching hopeful fisher-people pull in crab pots and an amazing giant sand sketch, clever people!

A gorgeous drive north via Amberley for our click n collect groceries and a coffee before settling in for the drive. Canterbury plains sure are a sight, flat as!

Arrived in beautiful leafy dappled Hanmer, a quick peek at the carnival for the kids’ candy floss break before checking in to very friendly and modern Top 10. We especially loved the flash marble double shower bathrooms!! 🚿🙌🏼

I spent the best part of 1-2 hours putting everything in its place: food, clothes etc all made that much better with a Rosè in hand & tunes of course - while kids explored the park.

A homemade pizza dinner and had planned for wood fired spa but then became too tired! Enjoyed the luxury showers instead! A lovely day on the road.
