Palacio de Cristal

My last day in Madrid might have been my favourite for sight seeing. Emma and I both really wanted to see the Palacio de Cristal but between a few rainy evenings and dinners that went too late, we only had one night left to check it out.

We left the office early and decided to try and time our visit with sunset to get the best photos. On the way we had time to quickly check out an Egyptian temple that is only a 10 minute walk from the office - the Temple of Debod. Egypt gifted the temple to Spain, dismantled it and reassembled it in Madrid in the 60’s. As authentic as it gets!

Onwards to the palace!

The palace features a rotation of art from around the world inside during different seasons. Right now there is a few all white statues by an American artist Charles Ray. There wasn’t a lot of detail on why he created them so I don’t know a whole lot on that side.

The palace itself was gorgeous in the light and hidden in part of a park that is almost forested which gave it a nice backdrop as well. I thought there would be a greenhouse affect and inside would be very warm but it was nice a cool inside which was great. These are the best photos I think I have taken so far. Well worth leaving the office early to capture them!
