#14: Wiedervereinigt in Deutschland! ❤️

Reunited in Germany! So excited for Glenn and Hannah to finally join us in Ramstein!

But I’m afraid they encountered a major roadblock right off the bat when their flight was cancelled out of BWI last Friday. Fortunately, Glenn’s sister lives close by and saved the day by graciously putting them up for the night.

They were told to report back around noon on Saturday for the 4:00 flight. Didn’t make it on.

Put on standby for the evening flight, and thankfully after hanging out at the airport for 8 hrs, they got seats and arrived safely on Sunday!

This also meant that Mckenna and I had to make another trip to the airport to pick them up. 😳

Got there without getting lost, managed to park, and even find them in the airport - which is huge!

We were a bit stressed from the drive so we took a needed break at McDonald’s before hitting the road to go home.

To help them adjust to the time change and get over the jet lag, our goal for the day was to keep them awake (after a brief nap, of course.).

We chose to \240continue the “1st day in Ramstein” tradition and visited the castle in Landstuhl.

It was a beautiful night and the views were stunning.

Next to the castle is a great restaurant where we had a traditional German meal of Weinerschnitzel, with good German beer.

Everything was delicious, and our goal accomplished.

After a good nights sleep, we decided to take a day trip to Trier, Germany.

But I decided that Mckenna deserved a break from driving, so I nervously took the wheel.

It was a beautiful, scenic drive and wasn’t so bad until Google maps led us through some small German towns, with narrow streets.

And then the country lanes became one. There were no lines and not enough room for two cars on much of it.

I white-knuckled our way there and prayed we wouldn’t meet anyone.

Thankfully, we made it to Trier and even found parking that turned out to be in a good location.

It was a cute town, but initially we weren’t too impressed until Glenn found this:

It was really amazing.

We wandered some more; it was an interesting combination of old and new.

Zoom in on the fountain below; it’s very detailed and a stark contrast to the next one.

On our way out, I saw this on the sidewalk, and it just struck me as being sweet.

It also made me think about how very thankful I am to have my best guy here so I can hold his hand again. My heart is happy. ❤️
