Have you developed severe cold before your planned travel? Are you wondering if you should travel or not with cold and fever? Are you worried about your health during travel? If yes, my dear travellers this article is for you.

Recently I did a weekend travel to Alibaug. Two days prior to travel, I developed cold, light fever and sore throat along with running nose and cough. As per travel norms, I was advised to avoid travelling during such times. I was too dejected, and refused speaking to anyone. A day went by when the thought, “What is wrong if I \240travel, after all my cold and fever are manageable” kept pondering me. A day before travel, I spoke to my family. They were worried about my health, but somewhere took assurance that I will take care.

There started my weekend travel to Alibaug. Here are something’s I did to care my health and have a memorable travel which I am sharing with you all.

First let me start with THOUGHT PROCESS

-Okay cold, sore throat and running nose with light fever, developed. If you know your health so well won’t you care? \240Also i read somewhere cold and fever are natural issues, which when arrived will slowly increase your immunity. So travellers if at all you feel a tinge of \240guilt develop in you, just ignore it.

-Start planning your travel by making a schedule for yourself only. Decide on what you want to visit, when and at what time? Then plan your sleep and rest accordingly.

-Here one thing you should remember your body will become tired. On normal times you won’t feel so, but with such things tiredness will elude you. So avoid things like self driving, back to back day travel schedules and unhealthy food that might affect your health more.

-Pack sweaters, scarf, cotton, tissues, cold medicines, gargling solutions and Vicks besides your regular medicines. Be what the weather prevail, remember you body is attacked by cold and fever, so you need these to protect yourself.

-All through the journey have a good sleep, infact more than your regular sleep. Try stopping in good reliable hotels who will understand what you need for cold and cough. Piping hot food freshly cooked is whst is much needed \240while travelling with cold. From Mumbai to Alibaug my family located such hotels, who understood what I needed and served accordingly. Liquids like soup, hot gruel and hot water keep you warm. Tea, hot milk and hot beverage drinks like \240Horlicks help a lot.

-Carry comfy bed sheets, pillows, cushions on your road journey, to avoid body pains during cold.

Now you have reached the destination. Here are some things to do

-After you check in, sleep well the whole day. Don’t plan any sightseeing unless you feel you are fit enough to walk or visit the place.

-With your sudden health condition try to extend a day or two of your trip. Yes you might consider about your holidays, office job and expenses. Believe me health is more important.

-Bathe only in hot water even if the weather is a bit sultry. Since your body is hit by cold, the hot water will warm you totally. Try to gargle and steam as many times as you can.

-Piping hot soups, soft toasted breads, light dhal and pepper rasam, ginger tea and cardamom tea without sugar, will soothen your body after travel. I took these for three days in Alibaug and my health picked up tremendously.

-Always inform the hotel staff about your health. They do take good care. They adjust the room heaters, air conditioners, prepare fresh food and send all you need to protect your health.

Now you are feeling better and want to explore. Here are something’s to do.

-Carry your fever, cold medicines

-Carry a flask with hot water or ask for hot water where ever you travel too. If hot water is not there, then go for piping hot tea.

-Cover your head, neck, ears and chest with warmers. Even if it is summer, you will feel the chillness inside you for you have cold and fever. Apply Vicks and Amrutanjan very regularly.

-When you feel uneasy, inform the driver and take a small nap in the car. Try to book for full day trip with breaks. This way you will find time to travel and explore slowly.

Dear travellers cold, cough and fever are very small things for which your planned travel shouldn’t be forgone. This time I tried so thought of sharing with you all.
