When going to the Lord I like to do many things. I will get out my bible randomly open to a page and read a random verse. I believe that every verse in the Bible God wants me to read. I try to think about this verse and how God wanted it to connect to my life. Some verses may not make sense, but seeing the resolution that I came up with makes me happy even if I could never find a connection. Us as people may never find connections with an object, people, or places. But for me the only thing that I had a connection with was the Lord and that’s all that matters.

Another thing I like to do is use my devotional book. I am not the kind of person that can plan a bible study so I like to go by other planned ones or that help me go to the Lord with less worrying about myself. I usually just read what it has, highlight the importance in it all and look at what God wants for me to understand from this. I will also read the verses provided with the study and look them up in the Bible and highlight/ bookmark them for another day when I will need them.

Going to the Lord is a very important thing in my life. Yes, I will forget sometimes or leave my bible unopened for a day. But people are naturally forgetful whether we like it or not. God is still there no matter the circumstances. It doesn’t matter if you pull out a computer to write rather than do a devotion, but he won’t leave you. Yes, God wants us to come together or to take time to worship him. This is why it’s important for me because it’s important to him as well.

Tips on how to make devotional time all about God.

Like stated earlier, if it’s easier to use preplanned devotions than that’s great! If you take more of the route of making your own than that’s great too! God has made us not all of the same and the way we go to him may not be either. This devotional time is between God and you or maybe your family and God.

Not all devotions you have to do by \240yourself. If you have a family, y’all can do this together. Family devotions are the exact same as going by it yourself. When going to God this won’t change anything. It will change the fact that your sharing your time with God with more people you so dearly love.

The last tip I have is the comfortable state of going to God. Like devotions with your family, maybe if your not comfortable doing a devotion alone, you can get with a group or a church. If your new and you have no one to go to, start with church. Once going to church for a while, you will get to know the people around you slowly or as fast as you want! This way if you want to join a church bible study group/ club, than you know everyone around you and you will be more comfortable with the people you share this time with.

Hopefully these tips and guides that I use or I have learned will help you find what’s the best way for you to spend time with the Father up above.
