Pirate's Inn

Woke up really early again. 6.30 am! Jet lag go away. Worried about pupsi. Did the cat sitter come? Harry is just making breakfast. Yes cat sitter got back to me all good!

Day two of the trip is looking tuff, we actually have to walk five feet to the sea or the bar!! I will let you know how we get on.

I want to record my first feelings after arriving here.

From the moment I came out of the door from the plane and breathed the fresh warm air, I felt something special. When passport control was smiling and friendly, I started to feel good and relaxed. Our taxi driver was a really pleasant guy and staff at our 2 star were also extremely pleasant. I noticed most people you pass acknowledge you with a Hi or a smile and my feel good factor just gets better.

I must celebrate my feelings of joy like falling for someone you really like. by learning 3 little birds from Bob Marley, reflecting the birds around us at breakfast this morning.

Im a bit sad this morning, just learnt that my Aunt Peggy died , my mothers sister, she was 94 and we cannot go to the funeral, would have liked to pay my respects but I have this little fellow cheering me up as I eat my ham roll and drink my morning cuppa

Grantley Adams International Airport

Waiting for our flight to St Vincent. Delayed!

Finally got there. Bit of scary experience

Well. I didn’t think you could freeze to death in the Caribbean, but we nearly did!!

We arrived in St Vincent on a small plane and got to our hotel about 10 pm, we were tired and happy that the air conditioning was on, not so happy when we woke up freezing in the middle of the night and remote not working to turn it off, nowhere could you turn it off , so we froze and couldn’t sleep all night. We \240had to open the door to let some warm air in , first time for everything right??

In the morning they couldn’t stop the beast on east wall either and we got a room change..

Evening now and had a great tour around St Vincent today that took us to where they filmed pirates of the Caribbean

3
Beachcombers Hotel

Had a lovely day touring St Vincent. Beautiful lush scenery. Very hilly and got cat sick!

Visited Fort Charlotte where the British pointed the cannons not at sea but inland pointed to the local population. Charming

Lovely views from the Fort

These are the cells where the British kept the captured local poplulation

Went on to see where the Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed

Ended by a waterfall.

Tomorrow we catch the ferry to Union Island

4
2nd Floor Kingstown Ferry Terminal (Upstairs, Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines

At last arrived at Union Island! Ferry was due to leave at 11.00am but left at 12.05pm. People still strolling onto the ferry at 11.45 am. They must have know something we didn't!

Got the timetables totally wrong. Thought we would get there at 2.15pm. Got there at 6.00 pm. Oh well small boat to china comes to mind! Might be quicker to fly but the ferry was certainly an experience. All the loading and off loading of goods and trucks

to the islands. Took an age.

No announcement on what island you are at so don't know if it is your stop.

The seasickness patches worked well but it was a rough ride.

Who says the Caribbean is always sunny

6 little bird 1 \240Iguana

Water taxi today to Tobago Cays, after an early morning disagreement about wind sea conditions that I could see on my wind sea app, \240were not favourable for boating! Mamma disagreed and we decided to leave it down to our boat guide. I knew that was probably not a good idea as he probably didn’t have a wind app and was looking forward to getting paid more than caring about it. Just to make it more exciting, his small boat had no orrs or spare engine and no life jackets were given. So when we found ourselves on the roller coaster on high seas both shitting ourselves, I found it hard to show mamma a smug face of I told you so!

Luckily we arrived alive and it was beautiful but the wind had stirred up the sea bottom so we couldn’t see the marine life, just one Turtle lots of little birds and an Iguana. Never mind there was the journey back to look forward to…

Had a lovely trip to Tobago Cays. I really scary boat ride though in a tichy boat and really rough seas. Wasn't offered a life jacket on the way. Asked for one in the way back. Hanging on for dear life!

First stop lovely Salt Whisle Bay. I love the supermarket they hdve on the beach

Then on to Tobago Cays and a lovely lobster lunch

Then in to Happy Islsnd a bar in the middle of the sea

Went to check out the kite surfing beach this morning, if only I had my youth again! My knee and back would certainly not appreciate it if I went now…

We’ve had yer money now F…Off

We decided to have a relaxing day at the Sparrows beach club, where they offer a free ride there and back as it is quite far away in the middle of nowhere and you can enjoy their private beach when you eat there.

Nice place nice food, so we had a couple of cocktails and lunch and we were enjoying the beach , looking forward to a nice afternoon.

We were the only ones there but that can be quite normal here.

As soon as we had paid lunch, around 1.30 pm, they said they were closing and the last ride back was leaving in 5 minutes .

This was a rip off and must be told in a review of the place.

Spent rest of day by the pool and watching the World Cup

Not such a great pool in our crappy hotel, only 2 beds, both broke when we laid on them, Roch anything in the room and it breaks, lucky I can bodge better they they can😆

5
FAIRDEAL-WATERTAXI AND BEACH BBQ

Didn't write a blog entry yesterday as it was a bit of a downer. We felt ripped off at the beach club and it is raining AGAIN. It has rained every day since we got here and it has been quite cloudy with a few bursts of sunshine

An early start as we are catching the"6.30" am ferry to Mayreau. Wonder when it will actually leave?

Goodbye Union Island. It was nice but I wouldn't come back

My first fish wow, after an intense week of Mammas schedule, this is the first time I got to get my rod out excuse the expression.

Very nice little one pounder that the gardener was very happy to receive. Done about an hour or so fishing off the jetty and had 3 , one too small and went back, a fight with a Baracooda or something like that and I lost and the Beaty in the photo . So here we are at Denise’s hide away in Mayreau Island , I understand why he keeps it hidden away, no further comments on that. it was good to get out and about for the day to a beach out the way, \240but with facilities, rain has been persistent but who cares in 26 to 30 degrees right?

6
Denis’ Hideaway Bar and Restaurant

Haven't posted for a while Sorry. Yesterday we had a lovely day at Salt Whistle Bay. Approx a 1/2 hour walk from Dennis Hideaway where we are staying

It was a lovely but a steep hike there and back with lots of goats, beautiful scenery on the way and a lovely little church.

On our way back we stopped at this really quirky Reggae Bar and they played drums for us. It was funny as soon as we walked in one of them shouted "Tourists in the Bar" and they all jumped into action. Probably the only punters they had all week

I really liked Mayreau. My favorite place so far. The people where so nice and friendly and everyone knows everyone and they all know where you are staying! Word must get around. Feel a bit sad though as dad got totally wasted. Thought those days were over now, but obviously not. A few drinks fine but legless? Made me very sad.

Dennis the guy we were staying was a great guy though. Lots of stories to tell. His ex wife is from Newcastle and he even released a song in the UK

https://youtu.be/0veE4cM1Uhs

. He cooked us a delicious shark curry. His brother is deaf and dumb but such a nice guy and such a hard worker.

We left Mayreau today and caught the ferry to Canouan. First impresssions are not that great to be honest. No restaurants or bars to be seen and a really steep hill back to our airbnb which is really in the middle of nowhere. Did the hill once but can't do it again in the heat so we have rented a golf cart. But that in itself is quite scary as it has dodgy brakes. The largest supermarket is absolutely tiny with hardly any food.

Nice accommodation though with nice views and nice hosts.

We had a nice day on a beautiful beach yesterday, nice long walk up and down to get there, very hilly.

Couldn’t really see a good spot for fishing though.

We had grilled red snapper for lunch

Stopped for a rum punch in a very characteristic bar on the way back and they came and played drums for us , pretty amazing experience video blow.

Got back to our place, Denise’s hide away and had a swim.

Had some more rum punch with Denis before and after dinner and realised when I got off my stool, that Imy legs \240can’t handle rum very well and staggered to our room.

Mum was definitely not impressed , that’s the last time I’m drinking rum all night, definitely not good for the balance .

Today we arrive by ferry to our next stop and we are chilling in our accommodation which is quite big but up a steep hill away from the sea.

Mum doesn’t want to walk so we rented a golf buggy to get around, that a bit of fun, mum is pretty scared cause the brakes are not so good and it’s very steep to terrain, but I’m getting the hang of it.

It’s nice to chill today, watching a few World Cup games, tomorrow we will be out on the buggy exploring all day

7
Bay View Apartments

A more positive day today. We went to Twin Bay, a lovely remote beach but dad ruined it with his paranoia that we would get mugged we only stayed about 30 mins and then found another beach. Sigh. I wish he would overcome his fear.

The other beach was ok but no facilities apart from a closed beach bar. This is the most boring island ever. There is literally nothing to do. No restaurants, no bars and I would say the beaches aren't that great.

After they we drove around the island and got caught in a storm so rushed back to our accommodation before we got totally soaked. \240We saw a nice tourtoise though

Nice morning fishing today, I had a massive take, with reel burning off line, I got it in and a local pulled on the line to get it on the pier and the weight of the fish broke the line and fish lives to fight anther day. I was told it was a Cavalli.

Had several others put back as unedible.

I did bring home this one for dinner but have bought some chicken as that will not fill us up.

The past couple of days were pretty unadventurous, had fun wizzing around on a golf cart. A difference in opinions on best beaches and places, with my experience as a well travelled wise old man, against a stubborn inexperienced tourist, whom’s \240stupidity will eventually lead to something unplesant happening to her!!

This is the beast I nearly caught, hoping for better luck in the months to come.

Relaxing evening after a good day’s fishing and managed to catch the England Wells match in a little coffee bar near the ferry part run by a nice Scottish lady, would have liked to know how she ended up here on this tiny Island but didn’t really get the chance to get chatting.

Tomorrow Bequia Island…..

8
PM2C+QC5, Canouan, St Vincent and the Grenadines

Had a nice yesterday at the local town beach. Just chillin' on the beach and watching the ferry come in. That is the highlight of the day here. A totally different pace of life.

Had a nice burger at a small cafe and this guy snoozing next to us

Town beach quite nice with the ferry approaching.

This is the supermarket where we do our food shopping

and the bar on the beach that looks closed but isn't

Today dad went fishing and I did some yoga and chilled at our apartment and caught up with stuff

9
Sugarapple Inn

We caught the fast ferry to Bequia. Never felt so ill in all my life. Threw up all the way there. It was like being on a rollercoaster constantly for one hour. I thought this is what hell is like.

Got to the hotel/apartment we are staying in. It is nice but not the room we paid for. I booked Ocean view. No ocean in sight! We then walked into town to do grocery shopping. A 40 minute hike. Nice views though

Did our shopping. Very expensive but we got all we needed. At least the supermarkets are better stocked here. £12 for parmesan cheese!

On the evening we went for a meal at the Bequia beach hotel, totally overpriced for what it was but afterwards they had music and we danced right on the beach and drank cocktails. That was nice

We went for our first proper meal last night after a very long day.

It started with a roller coaster fast ferry ride from Canouan to Bequia which I enjoyed and mum hated. She was sick all the way and the good side of me wanted to hold and comfort her and the devil in me wanted to laugh and take a photo, good side won, so you won’t get to see the sick and snot over her face and tiny black bag provided.

As we arrived she was feeling better but it all started again in the taxi wizzing around small bends up the mountain to our accommodation.

A good sleep sorted her and a walk back to town to get some food supplies.

Bequia is beautiful with a great vibe and some decent food shops , so cheese and red wine tonight yippee.

We finished the evening at a restaurant doing a barbecue at the beach night with a disk jockey and 80s music which soon got mum back in the mood and we danced the night away, which was a fantastic end to a bad start of the day.

Today we are at the princes beach, and as you can see we float perfect spot….

10
Jack's Beach Bar

Had a nice day walking around then"capital" if you can call it that!

Caught the bus down which was fun!

Then spent a chill day at St Margaret Beach

Had a bit of a down day as not feeling very well. Mustered up the energy to go for dinner. Dad went fishing. Dinner was disappointing at Fig Tree fish fry. No atmosphere and I forgot my \240sunglasses at the restaurant.

11
XQW3+PH Port Elizabeth, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Today Harry was allowed out on his own! Got up at the crack of dawn to go fishing but didn't catch anything. I spent the day by the pool. It was nice but there was no shade so got burnt.

We then went into town to meet the ferry as Harry had forgotten his glasses at the airbnb we were staying at in Canouan and our host kindly put them on the ferry to Bequia. However when we got to the ferry they knew nothing about it. A wasted afternoon. Sigh.

Where are the glasses?

It is Friday so the locals are gathering around with their cars and coolers and loud music. A party we are not invited to :). Instead we go to the friday fish fry at the Fig Tree restaurant. The food is nice and there is live music but the atmosphere is flat and it is not what we expected. Not a local insight, We leave at 9.00 pm and the town is dead. Where is everyone?

12
De Reef Restaurant & Bar

We hike to Lower Bay, a lovely beach with a cluster of restaurants and eat on the beach. Really laid back but my favorite beach on Bequia so far. I am notorious for being always stressed but I feel so calm and relaxed

I saw a star fish \240snorkelling!

Had a nice chilling day in the apartment. Dad went fishing and to watch the match. Actually enjoyed taking a break from the sun. Went for a swim when the sun wasn't so hot then met up with dad for a pizza. Lots of mosquitoes!

13
Mustique

Did a nice tour on a boat to Mustique to

mix with rich and famous ha ha. \240No one was there but really enjoyed the trip. Took a taxi round the island and saw the homes of Mick Jagger. Lacoste, Tommy Hiliger former home to David Bowie amongst others. Had a nice swim in the sea and a nice lunch on the boat. Made some new friends and dad got totally drunk.

Had a lovely day out on boat yesterday, we went to see the Island of the rich and famous, we met a nice couple Gavin and Anette, our age and spent the day and evening with them.

They new a lot about Bequia and Mustique as they have come here many times.

On the boat included in the trip were drinks and food and we got chatting with all the group.

It was a lovely day out and everyone at the end were a little tipsy and jolly, accept mum that was a bit of a stick in the mud, accussing me of being completely drunk again, which was not the case this time.

Today another free day yippee, I walked to town , took a short cut close to the sea and didn’t see a wave coming, got soaked, not nice walking with wet trainers and socks..went fishing in same location, didn’t catch again, so walked up the mountain and down to lower bay , found a new location to throw out my line.

Bingo, the reel started burning again..

Line snapped after one minute playing in the fish..

I have made a major mistake. I only brought 201b line and I need 401b out here, what an idiot…

Just realised after loosing my second sea monster

The port at Bequia

Had a chill day at the apartment. Saw in the pool. Dad went fishing. Had a nice meal at Fernando's Hideaway. Nice red snapper

Met our friends at Friendship Bay the beach near our apartment. There was another couple which we were not expecting but it was nice. Beautiful calm sea where this usually more rough and very few people on the beach.

Had a meal at the Deckhouse but the lobster didn't taste that great and I am not feeling well

Stayed at our apartment today as not feeling very well but came out in the evening. Met our friends at the Frangipani hotel for a lovely dinner and super steel band playing

Well coming to the end of our stay on Bequia and we started the day visiting a turtle sanctuary, this lovely guy showed us around and we got close up to them, I thought it was great, but later found out that when they are aventually released to the sea they die, because they don’t know how to live in captivity.

Spent the day at the beach with our friends that we met on the boat and Their friends introduced to us, Hassel, Toney, Anette and Gavin, we have had the beach mostly to our selves.

Last night after a hard days beaching, we went out to dinner to a place close to the water with a steel band playing. I absolutely loved the music and we had a great night with our new friends.

Next day on the beach all day and a fantastic evening out again in a restaurant up the mountain side, good food, a bit pricey, we met two guy’s friends of our friends, lovely gay couple, very welthy sollisiters , they were interesting and fun to talk with , great night had by all.

Goodbye Bequia, we loved it here, photo of our last evening

Visit to St Vincent waterfall today. Good to get my head under ice cold water after the England defeat yesterday

We are at the far end of St Vincent Island , volcano behind us and St Lucia in the far distance, great ride here all hills and bends mum loved it !!!!!!!

Great little bridge we had to cross, yes that is bamboo, if only every one could have watched mum cross, it was halarious \240..

Fishing is pretty shit lately, lost a lot of line and lures and no bites

The road up to salt bay was bumpy and pretty rough with the odd abandoned car and black sand ash from the fairly recent valcano eruption.

Black rock sand is used here to mix with cement to build houses and everyone can collect it for free. A pretty long trip to salt bay but we’ll worth it.

Here lying on top the water, I almost fell asleep, a very beautiful natural place and we had it all to ourselves, will probably be packed with tourists in a few years.

That was all yesterday, today we got absolutely soaked waking a trail in the rain forest, yes rain forest.

Nice walk, supposed to see parrots, but mum could only ever see one lol..

Had to push my belly right out for this one

Our guides, lovely couple Wayne and Shicerra

At last after blanking about 5 times and loosing fish to line slips from using the wrong knots with this new line I bought, I finally brought in a nice fish.

I must say that there is not as many fish here as I expected and the going has been tough quite often. Lots to learn about fishing here, Strong fighting fish when you get one but in the heat of the day shore fishing is not so hot!!

Persistents paid off on our last envying St Vincent, quickly throwing out a line well mum gets rest for dinner and so pleased , as I was ably to give up.

Earlier we went to see lovely gardens with plants from all over the world, our guide Sandford showed us around and told us the name of about a hundred different trees and plants, I can’t remember one of them!!

Well we checked into one of the cheaper hotels on the south cost upon arrival into Barbados after a smooth flight. I think this may be a bit to touristic for us, after our previous months experience living mostly with the Caribbean people. Here it’s more diveloped slightly less friendly and very much more expensive. On the plus side, it has less mosquitos , much more variety of shops less hilly better roads, easy to get around and direct flights.

This area by the sea has romantic restaurants, live music and a bit of nightlife.

We visited Mountain Gay rum distillery today.

Very interesting, at the end we got a 1/4 of a glass of straight rum from each of the bottles above, yes we were a bit pissed after that.

It really opened my eyes to how good rum is straight though and a very interesting historical tour.

Then off to the shops, I don’t think mum can survive without them unfortunately……

Well it’s been ages since I posted and even longer for Elaine. She was unwell with the big C , that starts with con luckily, also other things occupiing my mind , like 2 of the 4 kids arriving, the passing of my Aunt and my sister in law and moving into a villa for the Christmas holidays has all been quite hectic.

If there is one downside to travelling it must be not being able to be \240around loved ones, if there is a passing in the family. Also my best friends mother is very I’ll at the sweet old age of 98, he is an only child and I would have liked to be there with him..

On a more brighter note , we are extremely lucky to be here with our children and we been to some lovely beaches and swam with turtles and fish in the Cristal clear waters of Barbados…

Christmas Day was fantastic, an early concert in a park where locals dress up and live music, it must be my best Xmas day I have had, then we went for a \240lunch buffet and swimming , perfect day with family and very nice food…

Lazy beech days thes past couple of days.

Big waves yesterday and surfing, unfortunately my round tummy on a flat board didn’t work and I kept falling off, w

Fantastic New Year’s Eve had by all, with a delicious buffet, fireworks on the beach and dancing the night away with family.

Great band playing smooth Jazz before dinner then , great dance music after dinner to dance in the new year.

Lovely little beach at the hotel restaurant where we watched the fireworks, we both agreed it is the perfect setting for a marriage!!!

A boat trip snorkeling and seeing more than we expected the previous day.

These past few days have been mainly visiting different beaches around Barbados, ‘this is a shot from a rum bar on the west coast where the sea is on the Caribbean side and very calm and clear. We had a shot of rum before some serious sun bathing.

Fantastic little coconut cocktail bar at a beach in the south, no pictures of the Brit was full of seaweed.

Evening at a nice restaurant with Alex, sea view was spectacular with larg Tarpon fish in the film below waiting to be fed from the left overs from the restaurant kitchen.

Great night with a show preformed by the locals and all you can drink included in the price, I was the first up to dance here shortly followed by 200 tourists.

Had to leave the car there and we all took a taxi to a place called St Lorance Gap to carry on dancing the night away, great time had by all.

Kids have now gone home and back to work,🤣 we had a really fantastic holiday all together with few arguments and everyone staying very positive, we got to know Alex Jason’ s girlfriend and we really like her, let’s hope she’s the one!!

We visited a cave near the cost in the very north and had a swim in the cave pool close to a furosios sea, look like a good fishing spot off the cliffs.

We went to the east cost, long drive on really bad roads, saw monkeys, it’s \240more wild and undeveloped this side with a strong sea big waves, lots of seaweed. Had lunch in this place and lived to tell the tail.

A bit worrying!!

We just can’t stop ourselves.Real coconut cocktails.

We have been in our new little studio flat since Monday, we love it. It has a little garden area where we have started our morning exercise, we are so out of shape…It has a fantastic communal pool, nobody there usually, it’s set in a golf course, mostly old folk here, but we don’t mind as we recently looked in the mirror!

We walked along the beach until we arrived Sandy Lane hotel, in the back you can see there umbrellas, over £2000 a night to stay here, we used the beach for free😁

This is second long stay accommodation where a ginger cat has again come into our lives, it’s quite mistical.

We have been touring the middle of the island where there are some beautiful gardens, countryside, auger plantations and museums with plantation houses.

These flowers and chandelier is made from shells, beautiful old furniture on display also.

A ride in a steam train, wasent feeling well this day as we had an argument in the morning and mum was in a bossy mood all day and I wasn’t having it!! Having said that, we have been usually having a fantastic time and getting on great.

In the old days families would bathe and shit together now that is a close family. After visiting this house we went for a drive following the satnav looking for a point where there was a good view. We got totally lost and a guy in the middle of nowhere tried to stop us shouting and screaming at us, we didn’t stop, this happened twice and we got the feeling we would soon get mugged if we didn’t get the hell out of the area, so we made for home sharpish, how good can a view be anyway, after all we have seen!!

A trip to another beach north of Speigletown with a very original bar cafe.

Lovely beaches here

Barbecue red snaking the evening at Oistins.

Goodbye Barbados and our little pad that we really enjoyed our stay in

lovely pool just to the side

Nice day inland visiting a national park and botanical gardens. I have the app that shows all the fantastic plants and flowers.

A last visit to the east cost ,full of seaweed strong waves not swimmable, but stunning seenary, pot hole mad roads, got to take the car hire \240back tomorrow , dreaded it!!!

Back to west cost paradise

Last few days on the calm beautiful west coast beach heaven, what will Martinique bring?

Thorn, goodbye to my lovely sunglasses lost yesterday in a beach bar in Martinique yesterday, not a good start to our trip here, we will need to be careful, could end up getting lots of things stolen! Photo taken I Mostique not here.

Rose, This is the first beach we have seen here not as nice and very busy but food here is better with crusty bread chousants and good cheeses

Bud, Looking forward to discovering this island and hopefully some good fishing spots.

Goodbye to our little car that we done thousands of miles discovering all of Barbados

A day at Forte de France with a massive cruise ship in the dock, nice day visiting but it is like being in any French city rather than the Caribbean

Unfortunately we came on a day they were striking for their pentions and a lotwas closed

The Fort was quite impressive

Mum bought some earrings made frtbread fruit

View from the fort

view from the boat back to our village where we are staying

Well we have finally settled in our new accommodation and started to explore. Mum finds the accommodation unpractical

Well we have been travelling around mostly to different beaches but we stopped in a shopping centre to get some valentines gifts

Anyone for pizza?

Some beautiful beaches here

It’s a very beautiful Island but we prefer the Barbados vibe

Nice romantic evenings in restaurants by the beach but no nightlife otherwise and the small towns are very quiet after dark here

Never had a Valentine’s Day on the beach before.

Marinique beaches are very beautiful with shade and picnic areas, they are very busy though like European beaches.

I said to mum , we are so lucky that we are not a lobster, she replied maybe we are in the big scheme of things.

Fishing is shit so a bit of beach meditation away from you know who

Recently visited a banana plantation and it was amazing.

I managed to finaoget a video of the hummingbird here, it is fantastic to watch.

Amazing variety of bananas growing naturally

Beautiful flowers here

And lizards

Anyone want a banana?

A night out in a restaurant in St Anne , black pudding with lobster and mussels!!!!

Otherwise just beach in it up at the moment…

Martinique Fort de France devils day carnival.Vide en rouge…..Hey dude, where’s my car??? We went to the carnival in the capital, which started quiet, but by the evening was in full swing and this is what we saw when in the place we left our car!! Our car was gone and the whole town was partying!! By this time most of the tourists had left and we found ourselves in the middle of a party 2 miles wide with 99% locals and we stood out like sore thumbs. No accommodation, no car, phone nearly out of battery, nowhere to go!!We found police that didn’t know anything and sent us from one end of the city to the other as cars taken away, were put in different locations. One helpful cop called on his mobile, but then told us that our car was not on the list!!!!! I said what can we do, he said go to the police station closest to where our car was. Back to the other side of town, now exhausted and our luck changed, they had our car on their list, but it had been taken to the other side of town!! He gave us the area location and off we trot through the crowds again. We find it🤪

When we parked it was away from the centre and no sign to say no parking, the festival is all over town however and all cars get taken away which a tourist can not know and they don’t bother to advertise this information..lucky they didn’t charge us and my rusty French came in very handy because they don’t speak much English.

Before this we were having a great day..

Bottle tops.

Before

Listen to the atmosphere

Stunning view from our new accommodation, as small studio to the side of a big house, it’s been a shit week, with the car being towed and we are both down with soar throats and Covid symptoms that we may have caught from being stuck in crowds in the carnival.

We brave a day out at the local zoo but we both feel like shit.

Well after a week sick, we are up and running again, just both with a lot of green phlegm \240to spit out every day”” lovely “”” and it’s birthday time… luckily found a cake and some prezies at a commercial centre near the capital and we have a happy bunny.

We visited some botanical gardens with some amazing plants

Next stop is that little beauty in the background

Nearly there

Well we declined the 4 hour hike to the top, but this is the naughty boy responsible for killing everyone in St Peire in 1902 about 29000 people no survivors except 1 prisoner!!

Finally after many blanks, back in action.

Good day out with Dominque, lucky for me our accommodation host loves fishing too and showed me some good spots

Yesterday was a nice hike though the rain forest which was quite challenging to get to a beach down a steep hill.

But we made it and it was worth it.

The north of Martinique is certainly more beautiful and more of a Caribbean vibe

We have arrived on Les Sainte Island Guardalupe and rented a golf buggy to get around, most beaches have a problem with seaweed, but we found one nice one and on my first jump into the lovely clear water something stung me! It hurt like hell for a couple of hours and left a rash. They got there own back on me. Had to get back in though , don’t want to be scared of this beautiful sea.

Beautiful Island

Arriving to our rental

At least there are some fish here, had a great fight but I lost round one , round 2 on Sunday.

No fishing \240allowed here , these big fish come in to eat from the restaurants and fish market when they clean the fish.

Found a sneaky spot not to far from here though and had a monster on the line but lost it after a minutes fight

Taken close to the beach where chickens and goats roam free, the one on the left jumped up and stole mums sandwiches

Mother’s Day and a special treat in a restaurant by the beach for a special mum

Even the graveyard here is beautiful

A hike to the top of the Island highest point, thought we were going to have a heart attack

We love this Island , nice people, nice food , envoi’s nice here.

Nice day at the beach if you like goats and chickens everywhere

Goodbye Terre Haut, beautiful little Island, now we go to Marie Galante

This Island has much better beaches and some nice little restaurants on the beach.

Our accommodation only for 5 days is the best air b&b so far, big pool and everything made from wood, with modern appliances and completely private. First time I’ve seen mum naked in the pool👏😜😁

Clean clear water and fewer tourists

We arrived in main land Guardalupe, our second from last stop before coming home 😂 View from the restaurant of our new accommodation. \240In a gated complex on the main land of Guardalupe. Nice little beach, we are starting to take for granted these lovely beaches and views, how bad is that!?

After seriously poor fishing results from the shore, I have finally bit the bulet after finding a relatively cheap boat trip for Tuesday afternoon, fingers crossed that it turns out positive🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Well the fishing trip was a success on a small boat with a bunch of French guys, I didn’t actually catch this one , I was sitting next to the rod but when it bent a French guy picked it up before I could, I had the last laugh though, cause the captain gave it to me at the end of the day, good trip and a tasty treat with a few snappers also bottom fishing.

Guardalupe feels more like The Caribbean that we are used to, lovely fresh coconut and some nice characters

The big problem here is the seaweed. Many beautiful beaches ruined and establishments closed, it stinks like rotting eggs and you can’t stay or swim when there is a lot of it, mum had been dreaming of swimming in this cove before we left.

We had a meal in a beautiful hotel where the floor is full of coi carp

With lovely decor

Beach life here useually has natural tree growth to shade under

The last month of this fantastic Caribbean tour and omg all my shorts and trousers have shrunk around the waist!!

We have seen lots of iguanas and lovely little birds.

Lots of tortoises.

We have seen how locals make their own chocolate.

Hard to see you but I did

Taken some fantastic trails

Often had a little friend over for dinner

The beautiful village of Deshaies where death in paradise is situated.

A great day touring the filming sites and the fake police station.

Catherine’s bar we had dinner there creole cuisine nice accept for the cockroach crawling up my leg, and good value, mum had a great day touring all the film sites.

The shack beautiful day at the beach here also

Goodbye Guardalupe and the French Caribbean. We have enjoyed the luxury of good food and beautiful landscapes and beaches but it’s to quiet for us and we are happy to get back to some evening entertainment.

A very very beautiful country

We stopped in st Martin for just to days swapping planes for our last stop Antique. This is a shot from the famous beach Maho beach where they come in over your head.

Note the seaweed that was totally cleared up by the next day.

St Bart’s in the distance

Feeding the iguanas

Our hotel was a nice bit of lux for the two days here with a swim up bar and we had a great time accept for some losses at the casino but we won’t talk about that..

Back in the commonwealth hurrah

Antique is without doubt beautiful with some of the most beautiful beaches we have seen

We had a barbecue with steel band concert at Shirley’s Hights look out with great music and beautiful views.

I love a good steel band

We stopped at a side of the road vender and picked up some artisan jams, sauce to bring home as it’s our last week, Elaine the lady serving us, \240gave fresh pineapple juice that she made and slices of the most delicious pineapple also.

Another concert in Nelson’s Harbour with Sasha Marley, a great night out dancing to reggae, we saw 4 good \240reggae bands

So we enter the last week of this dream trip, as we look out at the sunset over the calm beautiful Caribbean over dinner. The warmth and seanary are almost being taken for granted, what a shock we will have when we get home.

I have found my dream beach bar

It’s just ama
