Hyatt House Charleston/Historic District

Settled down in the Hyatt house and ready to start the solo trip first stop Charleston

.I just compressed my luggage and fit it into my Osprey Farpoint 40L backpack. Convenience makes it better!

Booking the hotels one month ago and the price is a real bargain.

Just having a little city walk and surprisingly ran into America’s first Musum Charleston museum.

Good layout and contents inside, from the early era to the historic progression and development of low country and Charleston

.

Then, I head to the eastern coast, where the water front located, chilling and refreshing places to relax, thinking or just dazing.

Oh,here comes the pineapple fountain, pinapple is the symbol for warmth and kindness here.

And just passing by the city market, there are lots of craftwork and souvenirs as well as all kinds of snacks. Lively atmosphere here.

The old south carriage constantly passing by the market.

And I got the chance to try the southern cuisine, low country food for the first time, in the Charleston Crab House

Good taste, it’s like chips crunchy plus the sour and sweat seasoning with the fleshing green tomatoes!

Wonderful and smooth, cheese and grits make the shrimp and sausage more delicious and fresh, five star!

And I found the city taxi bike, so old school lol

Just some photography along with way here, chill chill the day, nice weather, lovely town, tasty food, great start in this trip!

Dock Street Theatre

Had the specialty Callie Hot Little Fried Chicken Biscuit Sandwich as the lunch plus the Nicho Brew!

Sitting joyfully at the corner of Marion Square in the afternoon enjoy my lunch, the taste is not good as the vibe here.

Walked to the American’s first drama oriented theater wow, Dock Street Theater, ready to see the final show of Christmas Carol

The vibe and the performance is great infectious, sniffing the air full of Chirstmas vibe!

Took the Festival of Lights Tour Journey to the County Park.

The Vibe is great with fire for the tosted marshmallow and carousel, even the climbing wall lol

And the light show is a wonderful journey, each lights is designed by one local institution and groups, standing for symbolic meaning.

And some photography as well

3
Forsyth Park

Thanks to nitro brew and Diet Coke before bed, really early start (4am) without sleep at all heading to the Savannah! and great talk with the uber driver Tiffany who also had trouble sleeping tonight lol.

The coach car is not comfortable as I thought, the constant lightning noise and winds made me hardly to take a nap, luckily it only take no longer than two hours to get to the destination.

Waiting in the station until dusk and prepared for background and planned for the city tour, \240I found it interesting since the street design layout is so clean, all composed of perfect squares and adjacent square park. I searched out that the British wants to separate from the royal class and demonstrate everyone got access to the public area.

And I decided to take a uber directly to central historic area Forsyth park and head north to the river st, along the way visit the famous spots and foods. Uber driver Raymond hear that said it is a good plan, And today morning he has send 3 passengers to the Amtrak station what a luck, two Chinese and his mom, he is joking maybe today he need to go for a Amtrak trip lol

The morning Forsyth park is awake from silence to vivid with lights penetrating through the leaves, the live oak with \240Spanish moss made the scene special and elegant. Early runners, early tiny and huge puppies, everything seems to be perfect in this beautiful Monday morning!

And when I meant to shot the flights track went right above the sculpture south soldier head, a bird just came into the view and sit right on the soldiers hat, what a coincidence! Three consecutive pictures have taken to cherish this lucky moment. And it can be called in a philosophical way: history can not drive away life, and life don’t need to understand the history.

Then I visited the St. John church, the gothic and stained glass painting is really cool, Had a good rest and nap here.

Just came into the local historic book store The Book Lady, it is indeed like the old school style of selling books no that in order but full of vibe and owners effort, I picked a The Crazed from Ha Jin, which was recommended by owner yeah.

Then I visit the most famous square here the Chippewa Sqaure, which made the bench scene in Forest Gump stole everyone’s heart. Chilly sit here and take out books for reading.

Approaching river at, here it is the stone stairs of death because it is so steep and unstable many tourists twisted their ankle so it is called lol

And for luch I get into one New Orleans style restaurant by the river - Huey’s taste the Crawfish etoufee, Begnets and fried oyster, all into my stomach, good!

Exhausting feelings and tired moise creeps up my mind, I found a place in Medison square to nap and read, but was asked by a bicycle Panhandler to donate, I give him 5 bucks in case he doing bad to me and get back to the crowd formyth park to make alive. All in all wonderful daylight in Savannah, couldn’t be better.

Union Station

Travel day! From South to the Rocky Mountains, Denver Colorado!

Packed my bags into one attached combo!

After arriving DEN, taking the train A line to the DTC union station! Christmas vibe is crazy, but few people on the street at this Christmas Eve.

And take out the famous Jinya Ramen for my Chirstmas dinner and prepared for the Christmas Train to SLC!

5
Salt Lake City

Take the famous Amtrak route California Zephyr! From Denver to Salt Lake City.

At the first the terrain was like the high mountains and grass, and sudden it changes to the River valley and Rocky Mountain!

After the muffel tunnel, the line is along with the Colorado River and the mountain, magnificent and beautiful.

And within, stopped by Glenwood spring town and Grand Junction cool fresh air and short stopping by

6
Temple Square

chill out day in SLC!

Lived in a good spot in Downtown, Delta Center is my neighbor, so I hang out and immediately dropped by the Utah Jazz’s home center

And SLC is surrounded by high mountains and some of them are still covered with snow and some of them are covered with lovely houses

Then I visit temple square, a kind guide Mr. Elder tells me everything about the church and the temple, he is so kind and friendly, delight conversation with him!

Then I went to the city creek for fun, it is also a good design and delicate shopping mall with fountain and natural creek inside and it’s glass ceiling could will open when the day’s good! Wonderful.

And then I uber to the lovely gift shop salt and sweat! Bought some lovely gifts!

And I found Utah’s plate is delicately designed and lovely

Dawn is approaching, so I ordered costa vida - a local Mexican restaurant and famous food panda for trying, good and cheat linnet!

And I went through by chance and saw the Olympic square, magnificent work!

Good chill day today in SLC, Utah!

7
Ensign Peak

Last day in SLC, raining and snowing in the morning, rest till noon and the day starts to be clear and I leave my bag at the hotel and went to the ensign park, hiking to bird viewing the whole city!

And after last night, the mountains surrounding all covered with silver blankets.

After the first sightseeing site, the road to the ensign peak is becoming increasingly muddy and steep, but best views awaits!

Immediately after I came down and cleared my shoe, it started to snow heavily, how lucky to see the clear view!

Dropped by the Utah state capitol in the rain

Then I took the uber to the First Franchise KFC ever! The chicken is in common taste but with less flour, good meal!

Then I walked to the Chinatown nearby, bought some food and drinks prepared for the train day and grabbed a Molly tea!

Beautiful last experiences in SLC!

8
524 Sutter St, San Francisco, CA 94102, USA

Took the train midnight and get some sleep when the clock back one hour, seeing the view from plain to snowy mountains to the fields and California sunshine! finally made to the San Francisco! And seeing the Golden Gate Bridge at the first sight under the dawn!

I bought a chicken wrap from a Mediterranean restaurant downstairs last night, and it was pretty good. \240This was my first time trying the fried chickpea balls, and they were delicious, with a fresh, pleasant fried aroma.

9
Alcatraz Island

Beautiful day and day is clear, in the morning I came to see the Golden Gate Bridge it is magnificent

And what I expect most is the Alcatraz visit! It is so cool. And during the ride, the wild California driver talked about the city and stories of his own and show curiousity about me and Ithaca and use Tesla to google and youtube immediately, that is crazy! And he is so kind to drive me down the Lombard st full of hairpin turns, which I didn’t even planned to visit, this is so good!

The island is mysterious and the inner story behind is attractive, seeing the buildings, cells and the historic traces, it is a mind blowing experience for me!

10
San Luis Obispo

Another train day today! Take the coast starlight from SF to SLO, staying all the way in the observation car, the view is unexpected good with grass and plain!

11
La Cuesta Inn

I went for a casual stroll, and it's a very peaceful town. Every electrical box is decorated with exquisite paintings.

It seems to be one of the earliest places where the California Gold Rush began, and also one of the earliest gathering places for Chinese immigrants. \240They seem to have gradually moved away, but there are still some traces left, and many signs have Chinese characters.

Bubblegum Alley, although a bit gross, is quite unique.

The restaurants here mostly serve seafood and Mediterranean-style cuisine. I got a roasted beef and lamb kebab to eat. \240For the side dish, I chose Sub Tabbouleh, which is finely chopped parsley, bulgur wheat, lemon, and olive oil – very Mediterranean, a refreshing and light carbohydrate.

Spending New Year's Eve alone in such a chill town is also a new experience. Happy New Year, and may everything go smoothly!

12
Santa Barbara

New year early start! Heading to Santa Barbara in the early morning, forecast said it will rain, but new climate for new year, it is sunny and cloudy! Beautiful view today!

Leave my bag at Inn, I walked to beach and found local people are running 5k 10k for the new year, including the puppies as well!

And I walked into the stearn wharf, everything here is chill and lovely! Big pigeons, fishing people and cycling kids!

And then I lined up for the Santa Barbara Shellfish company to open and have a seat, I tried favorite shrimp and scallop pasta and shrimp cocktail, it wasn’t that good but special and tradition, maybe lobster rolls next time!

And along the way off the wharf, there is the old making mermaid sculpture using sands it was real awesome!

Super nice whether, never thought of this good! Just picked a shade area in the playground and sit

We stayed at an inn with an American country style, and it felt very cozy, clean, and nice. First dream in 2026 must be sweet!

22 Castillo St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, USA

Morning experience of Santa Barbara’s breakfast from Chad, yester day I saw tons of people lined up for it. I tried the corn beef hash Benedict, it is delicious and lovely! Amazing!

all the way to LA! Rainy day, didn’t stay outside too much, directly heading to the hotel and ordered some fake Chinese food, not that tasty, spicy and salty. Hope next meal will be ok!
