Daniel Oduber Quirรณs International Airport

Flight:

  • I landed in Costa Rica at about 1pm on May 16th.
  • The flight was around 3 and a half hours.
  • I flew directly from DFW airport in Dallas, TX to Liberia, CR.
  • No Covid test was needed to enter the country or to return to the U.S.

Rental Car:

•I definitely recommend renting a car if you will be traveling to more than one city

  • Public transit is available but adds up if you are wanting to explore more than one destination

•From Liberia, Tamarindo is the closest big city. It’s about an hour an a half from the airport

•We rented a car from Enterprise

•The airport has a direct shuttle to take you to the Enterprise rental office. Its only a 5-10 minute drive

The car we rented (4WD is necessary if you want to travel to the Arenal Volcano National Park/resorts)

DAY 1

First stop:

  • You do not need to rent a GPS if you have the Waze app
  • But, you will need to have the directions loaded in Waze before you leave the wifi connection
  • We made an error navigating to Tamarindo and ended up in a town called Brasilito about 30 minutes north of it
  • We stopped to eat a late lunch here and grabbed Wifi to map us to our hotel in Tamarindo

Resort #1

Capitan Suizo:

  • We stayed at this hotel the first two nights
  • This hotel has an incredible atmosphere with the suites being immersed in wildlife and foliage
  • The hotel offers complimentary breakfast and lots of beach front amenities such as kayak, snorking gear, and beachfront pools/bars
  • The rooms are surrounded by wildlife and create a beautiful aurora to relax within
  • The resort is also located in the middle of Tamarindo which makes walking to restaurants and attractions super accessible
  • Everything is within a 10-15 minute walking radius

DAY 2

Tamarindo:

  • We ate breakfast down the beach at a popular restaurant called Waffle Monkey
  • Their menu includes breakfast sandwiches, waffles, smoothies, and coffee
  • They have an order window and table beachfront to enjoy your meal at

Breakfast sandwich+waffle+cappuccino= YUM

  • I loved the food here and their smoothies are top notch

Next,

  • We drove to a beach know for their Sea Turtle and dark sandy beaches
  • This drive was pleasant however 4WD came in handy during the last 20 minutes or so of excursion
  • Surprisingly, we were the only ones here
  • It was about an hour long commute
