And we are off! Heading to the airport to settle in and watch our Warriors! 💙💛

Meet little Lechon as Joe named him. He was created by the beautiful and talented Ali for our travels. Notice the Celtics fan in the background as the Warriors take the lead!

We have arrived! On the road to head to our first destination. Joe spotted this pig so we stopped for a snack of pork butt pieces and some cold water.

We have arrived for our first two nights in Manzanillo, Costa Rica. We are staying in glamping domes. They are currently the same style used by NASA. We’ve spotted some howler monkies and are excited to go to the sloth sanctuary tomorrow.

Last night after dinner. Patty and Luis enjoying their glamping experience

Dinner adventure our first night

Beautiful morning on our private beach

This morning has consisted of a beautiful breakfast, naps, visiting the Sloth Sanctuary, and lunch at the local Soda

Any guesses on the cost of our lunch for 4? Two delicious fish meals with beans, rice, noodles, and salad. A plate of fried pork and plantanes, a large empanada, homemade lemonade and 6 beers???? Deliciouso y muy burrato

Beautiful afternoon on the beach. The water was perfect. No one on the beach but the four of us. Perfect afternoon. Time for siestas and then out for dinner and live music at a Greek restaurant tonight.

Tonight’s dinner at Colores with live Cuban music

A beautiful sunrise on the last morning in Manzanillo

We traveled from Manzanillo to La Fortuna today. About 4 1/2 hours later, rain and lightening we’ve made it safely. We took these amazing fathers to dinner and are looking forward to enjoying the hot spring pools soon.

Our adventures today started with a drive and then a small hike up the mountain to the look out point for the Arenal Volcano. The views were beautiful. Joe found some colones on the way down. We then had a short drive to the La Fortna waterfall. That was a walk down and hike back up of 500 stairs. Again, just beautiful. We stopped for our afternoon snack of ceviche on the way back.

A beautiful evening with our 4th or 5th ceviche and delicious dinners. Luis had the seafood pasta. Patty had the ribs and Joe and I shared the fresh fish. It was a great day. Tomorrow we will head out to our next destination Playa de Coco. We love you all.

We are off and on our war to Cafe de Playa. \240Along the road we saw signs for a German Bakery. We stopped for a few sweet treats and ordered the special, sausage platter.

Luis every time we are in the car 💤

We had a great afternoon walking on the beach in Playa de Coco. We had a few beers and what was called the best ceviche out of the trunk of a car. It even came with soda crackers. Two beers and the ceviche cost us $7.50. After are walk we all went swimming in the rain. We are all happy to have safely arrived. We did have a little journey today along a muddy gravel road to get here.

Dinner was delicious and we had a little crab friend who made an appearance across our feet.

Last night we had an amazing dinner at a bbq truck. Of course we had afternoon ceviche also! Prior to that we stopped in at a foot spa and let the fish go to town on our feet!

We made it safely to the last spot of our trip, Samara. This is where Joe and I traveled last year and we just love this little town. We already walked around, had some tico tacos, swam in the rain and stopped in at the Italian deli. We also just had our first monkey spotting outside our room! We are all looking forward to our next 5-6 days here.

And down came the rain

Yesterday was a fun filled day on the beach, spotting a monkey family on the way back at our hotel.. Luis sang along with the musician at dinner and got the whole bar singing sweet Caroline. Patty and Luis were serenaded at the dinner table and we were caught in the rainstorm on our walk back from dinner. It was a great day. \240

Luis had his adventure on horseback after breakfast while the rest of went in little shops and walked back for a swim. We had some iguana friends at the pool while we relaxed.

Our afternoon downtime consisted of Patty beating Luis in phase 10 and Joe beating me in several hands of gin and Yahtzee. We had delicious afternoon snacks from the local Italian deli. We all then went to Mass and had a great dinner at the Sherif resteraunt.

Sunday was a relaxing day of breakfast, resting, pool time, fried chicken, phase 10, and a beautiful dinner at Mama Gui.

Yesterday was another great day. We did a little driving and exploring, then headed to the beach. We stopped for our afternoon snacks, back to the pool, naps and then out to dinner. It’s been an amazing time laughing and enjoying Samara.

Yesterday we said goodbye to Patty and Luis after breakfast as they made their trek back across the country to the San Jose airport. Sounded like they had quite the adventure with closed highways and rain. Joe and I decided since it was Taco Tuesday we’d do a taco crawl through town. We somehow may have added in a steak and fish beignets. Needless to say we won’t need to eat for weeks. It was an amazing two weeks and we can’t wait to come back to this special place ❤️
