July 7, 2022 Waiting for our 7:46pm flight, we decided to have a little send off!

We even got a lucky rainbow in Seattle on the run way!

We arrived in Dublin the next morning (9 hours ahead of Seattle) and transferred to a little puddle jumper to Manchester. We got a few hours of sleep 😑.

Then we picked up our rental car. Stick shift, right side driv, driving on the left. Julie went for it while Jonathon helped navigate the two hour trip to the Cotswolds. We immediately found a pub in hopes of a late dinner and drink.

The Eight Bells was a great pub in Chipping Campden near our Airbnb.

The kitchen just closed but they had sausage rolls. Pretty ubiquitous fast food to be found all over the UK. It sounded perfect. Until I took a bite and inside the roll was a much too large sausage. I bowed to never eat one again.

First full day!

We started by walking around the village of Paxton, where our Airbnb was.

Walking through wheat fields

These public footpaths are everywhere in England and Wales. Walking is a pastime and paths often go through private land and farms.

Fun village names!

One of man sheep photos to come. The Cotswolds began as a wool producing region. Sheep farms are still everywhere. But I think Ireland still has England and Wales outnumbered.

I love the fence stepovers on the footpaths

Then we visited the town of Blockley and did more walking. The Cotswolds are known for these yellow stone houses from the local quarry. They still mine it and everything is kept to look original.

The Cotswolds Distillery produces gin and whiskey. They made their G&T with a bay leaf and grapefruit slice. But our favorite gin distillery is yet to come…
