Sat Oct 8: Drove in to Baton Rouge for the LSU game. Since it was an 11 am game, we didn’t have time to tailgate. We did walk around campus for a few minutes and pass by Mike the Tiger’s enclosure. The weather was absolutely gorgeous! It was a great day for a day game. Unfortunately the tigers didn’t play their best, but we still enjoyed our day at Tiger Stadium. After the game we checked in to our hotel in downtown Baton Rouge. We stayed at Watermark, and it was such a great experience! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Mr Bill was our favorite. He knew us by name, and made sure we knew all the cool facts about the hotel, like how the hotel used to be a bank. He told us that a scene from Fantastic Four was filmed in front of the vault door, and the next day he brought us down to see it for ourselves. Our floor and our room had a cool vibe. It reminded me of a scene from a mafia movie. The place was just great!

Oct 9: Jay and I started our day off walking to the Starbucks less than a block from our hotel. We walked a few blocks down to the levee to see the River and the USS Kidd. The weather felt great! After returning to the room, we packed up for our next adventure: the Saints game in New Orleans. We had a parking pass in Champions Parking Garage then made a quick walk to Champions Square for a little pregame zydeco. I’m not sure of the band that was playing, but they were really good. We made our way to our seats in section 604 row 2. I really liked our seats, although row 1 would be perfect. We all had such a great time, and the Saints played a great game! They won 39-32. Afterward we decided to try out a poboy place a local had recommended. It was called Parkway Bakery. It was really good, and our bellies were overstuffed. Time to head home to Sulphur, but our break isn’t over yet.
