Jacksonville North / St. Marys KOA Holiday

We planned this meet-up with Barb and Mary. \240They had been in Florida as we crossed Texas. \240After catching up on all our travels, and the dogs (their 3 and our 2) got reaquainted, we had a miniture golf challenge.

This course has two holes where you spin the dial to proceed. \240Jim's spin required him to only use his hand to move his ball. \240It didn't hurt him one bit.

The weather was surprisingly warm, and so we were all 'packing' water. \240When all was done, Jim outscored us by 10 points (2 holes in 1).

2
Jekyll Island

I called off ill, then Barb did as well, so only Jim and Mary went to Jekyll Island. \240Part of the 'Golden Isles', it has historical buildings, tons of golf, is famous for its driftwood, and a sea turtle center.

I am so glad he and Mary went, even though their other halves were not able to.

This trip to Jekyll Island was the first time Jim has seen the Atlantic Ocean. \240I didn't get to be there, but I do imagine he got to touch the water. \240Up and over the berm to the surf...

On the island, the Georgia Sae Turtle Center rescues, rehabilitates, and educates. \240In the clinic, they were repairing a seabird. \240Jim and Mary also got to see other recuperating patients.

3
Chatham County Wetlands Preserve

The bark on some of their pines here is very impressive. \240I just had to get a photo of it.

We've been traveling through marsh and swamp land for hours as we travel up the Georgia shoreline. \240We didn't get to see much more of the state, but this was a nice start.
