Off to Hakone on the Shinkansen (bullet train).

Arrived at Aura Tachibana, very nice place with beautiful views.

But look how short some of the doors are (not our room, we had a regular sized door).

Video of our room with private onsen:

First night’s kaiseki dinner (traditional multi-course meal) wearing the yukatas provided to us.

Appetizer, soup, sashimi, steamed dish, grilled skilfish, scallop hot pot, shinogi, stewed dish, rice, miso soup, pickles and dessert with peach jelly, purple yam pudding & strawberry mochi roll.

Hotel breakfast before heading out for the day.

Unfortunately the forecast was for on & off rain but we still headed to the Open Air Museum.

Searched out a soba lunch at Soba Kihinkan.

Also unfortunate was the closure of the Hakone Ropeway due to volcanic gases. We skipped ahead to the pirate ship themed sightseeing cruise.

Second night’s kaiseki dinner.

Hotel breakfast before heading off to Tokyo.

Exploring Akihabara.

Super Potato retro gaming store.
