Weather:

HOTTTTTTT. 115 deg here in Phoenix today

I left LA at 805am and flew on Southwest to Phoenix. COVID seating is nice. \240I was in a boarding group that had 80 people in front of me and as I was making my way through the plane there was an isle seat with an older African American woman at the window. It was odd because the seats were taken up to that row and about 8 rows after. I asked if the seat was taken and she was so happy that someone finally chose to sit bye her.

I Ubered to my sister’s house and started unloading everything and packing the bike. I was actually having fun making it my own until about 2pm and it started getting hot quick. I drank most of my sister’s bottle water....I owe you Joyce 😉

Once I finished and headed toward the Fairfield Inn and Suites, I was using my phone for the gps on the 5 mile ride and I look down to see that it had shut down from over heating....yes it was that 🥵.

Made it to the hotel and then ate at famous Dave’s....oh so good.

Now I’m in the room updating my Journal and I’m going to retry updating my bikes maps program...wish me luck.

Indian MotorCycle

Well today has been pretty boring😐

Got to the dealership at 0830 and it’s now 1230....still waiting, but as I type this I hear a REALLY MEAN MACHINE in the service area and I bet it’s my girl😁

Just wanted her checked out before I head out in the morning. Had a recall and service completed along with a gold star pre-trip inspection.

Finally got out of there at 1400.

Since I hadn’t eaten all day, this place looked really good as I rode bye and I couldn’t resist.

Spent the rest of the evening getting my bag set up a little better for the ride and tried to get my new headset to work. The headset just won’t run on battery, so I will have to send it in on an RMA😐.

And then evidently rain storms in AZ at proceeded by a dust storm and then “monsoon” rain.

Now it’s time to get some rest before the first day of riding

Courtyard by Marriott Phoenix Chandler/Fashion Center

Didn’t sleep well at all last night.....again.

Up at 4am and got everything packed and pulled out as the sun was peeping over the horizon.

Trip was pretty uneventful because the tribes had everything closed down on highway 89.

Once I neared Page AZ, 89A cuts off to the west leading to the north rim and just above it is this overlook.

Just before you get to Page, you come up on Horseshoe Bend. “Hey it’s right there I can eat and find more water after I see it”. Mistake. It’s a 3/4 mile walk in BLAZING heat to get to the viewing point.

Wouldn’t you know it....I parked down hill and couldn’t push the bike out. Luckily I was able to squeeze between some parked cars.

After getting to the hotel and checked in, even though I was getting overheated I had to finally eat something (it was already 2pm).

I rode a short distance to Denny’s to get a bite. This is where it all went south.....

I saw the Glenn Canyon overlook before I got to Denny’s and figured why not. Because it’s friggen hot out and you have no water stupid. Plus I was already overheated.

I did survive the hike, but not by much

Today was also laundry day, so no rest for you old man.

Having some pizza for dinner because I just can’t go back out there

East Rim Trailhead, Zion National Park

Had a great day traveling to Zion National Park.

Road out of Page AZ this morning around 0630 and the first stop was a spot overlooking lake Powel. \240Drone video

I then continued on highway 89 through the town of Kanab and up to highway 9 which takes you through the park.

Zion National Park is breathtaking. The shuttle is more for people wanting to hike trails, but I rode it anyway.

Can’t miss the goat in the last pic.

Most of the great shots are on the GoPro but here is one video from the shuttle.

Since I took the short way to the park, I had to drive back the same way, but the views are totally different.

After getting back to the end of highway 9 I stayed at a best western and had some ho-made apple pie.

Beautiful day for a ride.

This morning I traveled to Bryce Canyon.

It seemed to take forever for the sun to come up so that I could hit the road. \240I took 89 north to hwy 12 East. There was a lot of road construction on 89 with guided one lane traffic.

The road up to Bryce Canyon was very pretty and I stopped to take 2 drone flights of the natural beauty, but it turned out that I never turned on the video😐.

Once you make the right onto 63, you start the 19 mile journey through the park that assends to over 9000 feet. I chose to ride to the end where you see rainbow point. I was awe struck at the beauty of the formations and the forest floor below. I stopped at all of the overlooks along the way back.
