Rte of the Hiawatha Trail

15k Run the Hiawatha \240🏃‍♀️😊 completed!!

Last fall I was scrolling FB, saw this race, and impulsively signed up.

I have never biked 🚵‍♀️ the Hiawatha AND I have not run a race of this distance in over 20 years. \240 I had NO idea what to expect.

Today was the day and what an adventure it was!

Mark was my “caddy”, we spent the night in the booming metropolis of St Regis last night (actually the Super 8 was really nice) and this morning we were off by 7 am to get to race site.

The run is through abandoned train tunnels and over trestles. \240The tracks have been removed and now it is most popular with bikers all summer season. \240Running it is not as common.

My run started with the monster 2 mile tunnel. Check out the pics. Headlight required. \240The view upon exiting the tunnels was Mother Nature in all her splendor. \240Lots of aid stations, fun support, hundreds of runners, so fun!! \240Came back muddy and happy and impressed with my time too!!

If you have not experienced these trails along the Montana/Idaho #5 corridor, I encourage you to do so. \240 They talked about full moon 🌕guided bike ride over the trail several dates in summer. Now that would be fun!!

Run 1 for Summer 2022, more to come!

My innocent start. \240Not having a clue what to expect!!

Here goes…

Trying to cover the headlight so the picture will focus.

Eerie tunnels.

The two mile tunnel as I was about to enter on my return.

I realized that ball caps have to be turned backwards for the headlight to do any good!! \240🤣. I noticed that after I went full foot in a mud \240puddle 💦❤️❤️

Awesome experience. \240
