Two Week Countdown!
First of all, thank you to each of you who have contributed to my first mission trip. Your support of my mission to share the love of Jesus throughout the nations is very meaningful to me, and much appreciated. Praise be to God that I can say my trip was fully fundraised by the support of people I have highly regarded throughout life!
Casa del Redentor (Reedemer’s House) is a ministry that was started by our church, North Metro Church, in 2013. NMC executes multiple mission trips there every year, typically involving manual labor to help improve villages and ministry sites.
North Metro also has an annual Christmas gift drive outreach in local Atlanta Metro communities, where they partner with a local ministry to provide a Christmas gift market for families in need. The “Hope for Christmas” outreach has been extended to provide gifts to children in Guatemala, too, so our team will be going to spread the cheer of the Christmas gospel there, as well.
There are 10 adults on our team. We will be departing Atlanta on Sunday, December 8 and have a direct flight to Guatemala. From there, we will have a 3 hour drive to Panajachel, which is in the Western Highlands region of the country. We will be visiting three villages while there, providing gifts and the love of Jesus to over 200 children. We will return on Saturday, December 14.
Here are some pics from last year’s Christmas mission trip. The children got one gift each, which overjoyed them. This year they will get two gifts each, and there will be two bikes raffled off in each village!!
It’s the One Week Countdown!
This morning, our team was commissioned at the beginning of our church services. Our church body prayed over us and blessed our ministry!
This is probably the nicest I’ll look in any pictures for the next two weeks haha💁🏽♀️
A few weeks ago during a team meeting, we were asked one word to describe the way we were feeling about the trip. I would still use the one word to describe my feelings, “selfish.” I feel like I am going to camp! I feel like I have much more to gain than to give. I haven’t ever immersed myself in an underprivileged society, and I am looking forward to the new perspective it will give me. I’m looking forward to seeing how they live their life (reportedly) so joyfully! I’m looking forward to seeing their beautiful country! I am also looking forward to seeing how the Lord will move in and through me in this step of faith. I feel very fortunate and grateful that I am able to have this spiritual experience, thanks in large part to every one who so generously supported me!
Not to ask for more😁but here are some ways I would appreciate you to join me in prayer for my group, the ministry, the people/villages we will visit, and me:
1.) For the relationships that will be formed and strengthened by this experience.
Proverbs 17:17 https://bible.com/bible/111/pro.17.17.NIV
2.) For our time in the villages and the care spent there.
Colossians 3:23 https://bible.com/bible/111/col.3.23.NIV
3.) For times of worship and spiritual encounters during our visit.
1 Peter 3:15 https://bible.com/bible/111/1pe.3.15.NIV
4.) For the safety of our team throughout our travels.
Philippians 4:6 https://bible.com/bible/111/php.4.6.NIV
5.) For the leaders involved in the trip.
1 Corinthians 4:1, 3 https://bible.com/bible/111/1co.4.1-3.NIV
6.) For the Lord to bless me not just to receive, but to toil and give generously; to empower me to share the Good News in a profound way; \240to be able to undeniably see His power move through me to the benefit of His glory and the benefit of those we are serving for the greater purpose of His kingdom.
Proverbs 31:17 https://bible.com/bible/111/pro.31.17.NIV
1 Thessalonians 2:8 https://bible.com/bible/111/1th.2.8.NIV
