The landing in Poland 🇵🇱

After the landing we went on a bus from the plane to the airport and into the security zone. Charlie was able to get a taxi pre booked to get to our hotel.

It was a little weird driving as the people in Poland drive on the other side of the road.

We saw lots of nice houses and old buildings as we went towards our hotel.

We arrived in Krakow and went to our hotel.

Our hotel is:

The room:

It’s really nice.

The bed (it’s 2 twin beds) it looks like a double

Some furniture in the room

The bathroom 🚽

We went to find the tourist information centre after we had dumped out stuff, however we found there where a lot of them around.

An example of a journey we made.

On the way we found this snowy square.

More of that square

Cool building in the square after we got what we needed to do done at the tourist information centre we went in search of food. We went to a small supermarket and got some snacks. (They probably didn’t hang around long enough for a picture)

We went out to eat at 6pm ish this is what I had.

I had Salmon and tagliatelle.

The size was huge I managed to eat about half and it was really tasty

Later we went to the bar of the hotel we are staying in and had a few drinks. Charlie had the hot chocolate.

Some really cool lights in the bar.

Tomorrow will be busy as we have a tour booked of the Jewish Quater and breakfast in the hotel.

Good morning @ 7:20am!

The tour is today and so is our first breakfast in Poland.

The Jewish Quater

Today was interesting...

We woke up at 7:30amish for a 8am breakfast as we had planned on going on a tour of the Jewish Quater, however that was scrapped as we where double booked for Friday instead of today!

We found our way to the old town in the middle of Krakow.

St Mary’s Basilica the outside and main entrance

Outside the church.

Inside St Mary’s Basilica

We also visited various sites and museums around the old town of Krakow. We went to the Underground Market under the main square in the old town of Krakow. It was dark and kinda interesting, however there wasn’t any audio in English only Polish which kinda sucked.

The cloth hall indoor market in the main square of the old town

The old cloth hall in the main square

Multi coloured statue in glass case (they where everywhere in Krakow??)

This one is at the Barbican in Krakow. It was a small fort at one end of the old town/main square part of Krakow. We couldn’t go in as it was shut be we saw the outside of it.

Another shot of the old cloth hall in the main square

Salt mine and tour

The morning was spent going around the Jewish Quater. It was interesting, we were the only ones on the tour so it was cool.

The main square in Krakow

The small chapel in the main square

The main stage for the Sunday event that takes place all over Poland on the 2nd Sunday of January every year.

Wawel Royal Castle in passing as we waking to the tour meeting point in the old market square

Church of St Adalbert

Later in the afternoon we went to the Salt mines.

The old tunnel where boat rides took place but they don’t do those anymore as the mine became too popular.

Long corridors

Underground salt lake

Interesting drain

The large chapel one of about 42 found in the mine.

Museums and shops

Today we went to many museums and some shops. We went to the National museum and art galleries. We went via tram which was so cool.

Map from the national museum to the stain glass museum

The stain glass museum

The front door of the museum (the building is actually created just for stain glass making and the main painting room and putting together room are both north facing because the light doesn’t change much during the day.

Stain Glass Museum the only one in Europe.

Me soldering my stain glass piece we paid for a 1-2 hour workshop

Stain glass pieces used for windows created in the studio. This is a north facing room.

The meal I ate in the evening

I bought this amazing jewellery it’s Red Amber.

Auschwitz today.

We went to Auschwitz today. I can’t discribe it.

The entrance to Auschwitz II-Birkenau.

Entrance to Auschwitz concentration camp the first one.

Going Home today.

I’m adding in the meal I ate last night to this entry as I don’t think It’s right to put it with yesterday’s entry. It’s Salmon and fries with white wine sauce.

Going home now it’s a 10:30 flight from Krakow.

Krakow airport

De icing the airplane due to the snowy conditions in Krakow

Some snacks I ate on the plane

Flight should be about 2 and a half hours.
