FRIDAY

Worlds smallest Kwik Trip in New Lisbon

Single bathrooms - Dad had to use woman’s because someone was in the Men’s forever.

Dissapointing stop at a new Subway in Eau Claire - nobody likes the new bread- too much bread and now apparently a Pepsi franchise…Jen tries soup- grosss

Get to Lauren’s apt about 3ish….Dad and Jen check in to hotel and hurry back to the apt for Dad’s surprise..Lauren bought Dad a massage as his birthday gift!

We all went the the Refinery to check out Lauren’s new work digs. Great building, beautiful interior design and decor. Met her co-workers and owner.

Lauren designed the new branding

Check out Julia’s eyebrows! She got a treatment too.

Kate and Jen sat around and gathered KBop orders for pick- up- the Korean yummy take out place in Dinkytown. Dads choice of course- but everyone likes it.

Ate KBop at Lauren’s apartment and off to the hockey game- missed face-off due to traffic and parking. Super super cold!!!

Family fun

Go GOLDY

And they win! 4-2! Good short game- refreshing to be done w a sporting event fairly early.

Stop at Top 10 liquors before dropping girls off at apartment and they invite us in for a high noon- the least they can do after we bought them booze- lol

SATURDAY

Girls start the day with breakfast at Egg on a Roll in Dinkytown. Dad and Jen at The Hen House- daaaaalicious! But expensive for breakfast.

Stones throw from the Hilton Marquette hotel.

Grab the girls from the apartment and head out for lunch- a full day waits!

Fun lunch and catch up at the Market at Malcom Yards

https://malcolmyards.market/

The beer and wine wall. Pour your own \240and pay by the ounce. Allows a sample before commitment to a full glass, or just have a few small samples.

Next stop- The Salt Cave, tucked in a neighborhood. https://www.saltcaveminnesota.com/home

ReLAAAX - nap time!

Enjoyable, meditative, quiet session that lasted 45 minutes. Salt gets pumped into the room so you are literally covered in salt and can feel it up your nose- in your mouth, etc. Lauren told us to lick our finger which yep! Tasted like salt. Supposed therapeutic benefits for congestion, cough and allergies. I think it knocked Lauren’s cold out of her! But made John worse and cough. And Jen was itchy before going to sleep at night.

Wall of Himalayan salt stones- like the salt lamps. Illuminated really pretty.

John was not that excited but he got a nap out of it so I don’t know what’s not to love….

Getting deep in to the salt

Good times! Now Jen wants to open her own salt cave at home. Low startup costs for potential $1M in profit in a year!! \240Sign me up!

So much salt!

No time to rest- now to the opposite end of the spectrum- Mall of America!!! Kate’s never been…

Such chaos

Ewww what a contrast after our relaxing salt cave- but it was fine. Shopped, bought a few things and stayed about 2 hours.

We made it! Now we never need to go back. No we did not go on any rides. Just needed a “token photo” for the Journo!

Drop girls at apartment and back to hotel so we could all freshen up for dinner.

Celebrating Kate’s birthday

We all like the menu format- meaning paper on a wood panel secured by rubber bands. Although the rubber bands are not favored.

Awesome delicious farm to table comfort food.

Chicken pot pie was the clear winner!

Kate and Lauren declared they can host Thanksgiving at the apartment this year- but we still have to purchase and make the turkey…

Lovelies!!

Known for their cupcakes and cakes.Happy Birthday! 24!

Drop girls at apartment and back to hotel.

Down and dirty quick breakfast

Book at the hotel….really MN???

Bid Lauren goodbye 🥲 and hit the road at 10:45 am- let’s hope todays drive is short and hassle free….
