This isn’t really the kind of thing I’d do but it’s easier than trying to tell everyone individually what I’m up to. So I \240Landed at 16:30 and caught a taxi straight to the hostel. Little bit daunting when I arrived as I’ve never stayed in a hostel before but soon met a british couple that had arrived the day before and introduced me to the group. Everyone was super chatty and and just wanted to have a laugh and get fucked up, so ideal. We were soon smashin the Chang’s down and we headed straight out to khao san road which was about 15 minute walk away. The streets stink pretty bad and there’s gross looking street food everywhere with flies all over it, I shan’t be eating that shi. I was talking to a Hungarian guy and he said it felt like you were breathing in shitty soup. I was surprised by the lack of prostiutes and ladyboys there were on the strip, I thought they were going to out number the travellers 😂 We found a real lively couple of bars opposite each other half way down the strip and everyone was dancing in the street, super fun. I spotted Nathan Uzzell’s sister and told one of the guys that I was with and he went straight up to her and told her I knew her. She was travelling with two mates that were both from swindon too. Of course, in no time the hot one (charlie) was all over me and we swapped numbers. The hostel group all came back and chilled on the foof for a bit with some take away pad Thai that we got on the way. Charlie the keen bean was straight on the blower saying how she wanted to see me and she got a Tuk tuk over to the hostel.

Slightly hungover, I walked charlie back to her hotel which was near khao san. Came back, freshened up and caught up with the British couple and a German guy called Sven who really reminded me of Sweden so we had a real good laugh. Can’t remember exactly what we went to see, me and sven kinda just followed the couple round because they were pretty keen to tick off all the main attractions and they worked out all the logistics of getting everywhere so it made it easy. Saw some temples, went on a boat, drank a coconut, went on a tuk tuk and then got a Thai massage which was pretty mint. Had to tell the woman to go steady when she started wrenching my arms behind my head because I thought she was going to re dislocate my shoulder 😂 she was pretty brutal. Pretty much saw all the main stuff and the whole day cost me about 1200 baht which is about 20 quid. And that included getting a bit ripped off on a boat tour. Ben (the guy in the couple) was super cautious about everything and it was a little bit annoying at times, but they were a really nice couple so they were nice company. Went on a trip with the hostel to a night market which we got to via bus. Pretty much just a load of unhygienic food and shit clothes. I ate some bugs. \240Day ended on the roof sipping Chang and I got an early night as I was super tired.

Woke up, had some breakfast and said goodbye to Ben and Amy the couple. They’re in Australia in February and said they’d like to meet up again so that would be cool. Went out for the day with 3 American girls. Day consisted of following one of the girls called Katrina round all day walking really really fast and watching them eat loads of food. Literally like being with 3 Ciosa’s. slightly annoying. We went to a massive new shopping mall down the river so we had to take a river bus which was 15 baht, cheap as fuck. The mall was insanely big and had mental air conditioning. There was a whole floor that sold cars and literally next door to the mall there was a village of corrugated tin shacks, massive divide in class. Sven messaged me and said he was leaving so I was gutted I didn’t get to say goodbye to him. Katrina took us to a little resteraunt she had heard about and I found my new favourite meal, pad se ew. I forgot to mention that up to this point I had pretty much eaten nothing but pad Thai so it made a nice change. The American girls ordered 2 meals each, it’s weird to see someone eating more food than me for once, but they are Americans so I no surprises there really. Grabbed some Chang’s on the way home and got ready for khao san round 2. Narrowly avoided a massive monsoon rain storm which lasted a couple of hours. Made friends with a load of Germans, a Brazilian and Canadian and had drinks up on the roof before we headed out. Also got talking to a Thai girl that works at the hostel called Bella so invited her out with us. Had a real good night out, I ate a massive tarantula, played some pool with an American guy and managed to convince him that my highest snooker break was 142. Ended up losing the group in the end so me and Bella just got some noodles and headed back to the hostel.

Woke up at half 12, sat in the lobby and started writing this. The yank girls wanted to go out and get some juice and coffee, and I met a Hungarian guy in the lobby too so him and one of the Germans came with us. The German guy gave me a wrist band that he bought me the night before on khao san which says “I love jizz”, I’m not taking it off. We ended up getting some shitty pad Thai and then we went to a little coffee shop where I discovered my love for lemon ice tea. The yanks got a smoothie and a coffee, greedy bastards. They left, so me, the Hungarian and German bitched about Americans for a bit before heading back to the hostel. The Hungarian guy is one of the more interesting people that I’ve met so far, he’s travelling alone and has a really nice outlook on stuff. He’s a bit of a “free spirit” but cool to talk to. I’m really starting to love hearing about everyone’s travel plans and where they’ve been and it’s making me more and more excited for what’s to come. I’m starting to question why I’m writing about all this now and wether I should keep it up. But it’s a good way to pass the and it makes me look sophisticated to the chicks in the lobby so I’m gonna roll with it. Ended up sleeping for the rest of the day and then getting some food with 3 Germans and Bella.

Pretty shit nights sleep because I slept so much yesterday and for some reason the room was super hot. But a good start to the day so far because I think I just found some work for aus. There’s a group of Aussie backpackers that all look like they’re on roids and seem like a bunch of dicks. I noticed one of them walking through the lobby yesterday with a cling film wrap on his arm for his new shit tribal tat. He just asked me to watch his bags for him whilst he went out for a ciggy and when he came back in I asked him about his tat. Turns out he got a massive shit piece of tribal all the way down his spine as well 😂 He said he’s worried about telling his parents he got inked and I told him the story about showing my mum the massive gorilla that’s getting stabbed on my leg 🤔 Anyway, he asked what my plans were and told me to add him on Instagram straight away because he’s got a load of tradie mates that’ll give me a job straight away. He told a few of his mates and they all said they’d get me work easy, result. His tats are still shit tho.

Went into china town to take a look at the market with a load of people from the hostel, what a shit hole. Can’t wait to get to aus now. Its been mint here but 3 days is enough. I’ve totally lost my appetite now, and I’m sick of seeing gross looking food everywhere I look. Get me a shrimp, and a BBQ now. While we were there, I remembered that I’d forgotten to check out of the hostel that morning, but luckily, Bella from the hostel was leading the group so she just called reception and they were really cool about it. The towels in the hostel were pretty nice and I’d given a deposit to have one whilst I was there. When I gave my key in the woman at reception wanted my towel back (which was packed away in my bag) so I went up to the bathroom/shower room and stole someone else’s to give to her 😂🤷🏻‍♂️ I got a cab to the airport pretty early because I couldn’t check in online for some reason. I only had 1000 baht note and the driver only had two 500’s and my fair was 250. I gave him 500 as I didn’t need the cash anyway, he was pumped. I’m pretty bored of negotiating my way through tiny smelly Asian people now too so I think if I come back to Asia again I’ll stay out of the cities and busy areas for sure.

Horrendous flight
