Day one! \240Left the house for our flight at 5:00 am. Stop over in Vegas, onto Sacramento, hopped in our car and off we went.

After doing a little bit of research decided to try a different \240area of Napa called Suisun. Camus has a new winery in that area so we stopped there first - \240beautiful property with an oddity of palm trees which was kinda of cool. The tasting room itself was like being outside with floor to ceiling windows everywhere. After that we decided to visit a cute little winery, called Vezer and had a great time tasting their wines for $20- \240a very reasonable fee in this part and spoke to two gentleman that gave us some pointers.

Nice view of the palm trees

Beautiful background

Hanging at the fireplace in the tasting room

Liked the Zinfandel so bought a bottle!

Comfy couch and relaxing atmosphere

We made our way to check into the Inn on First - our second time to stay here. Cute little room in the mansion this time. Going to be switching rooms as the wind gusts were blowing the awnings against the windows all night.

Had dinner at Angeles - a French restaurant in downtown Napa. The three of us decided to do a little smorgasbord so we had beet salad with goat cheese, escargot, risotto with mushrooms and beef bourguignon.. Think our favorite was the beet salad and the escargot. Ended that with crème brûlée and 20-year-old tawny port. Yum Yum Yum.

Back to the room for the night.

Well Napa has been under flash flood warnings since we arrived and today was destined to be a washout between rain and gale force winds. So - make the best of what it is!!

We get a sit down breakfast with our stay and it was yummy. Started with a small bowl of fruit and yogurt and then Julie and I had the New Orleans breakfast - eggs, grits homemade biscuits and potatoes and Diane did classic eggs and bacon.

Like the make it yourself yogurt and fruit bowl

And a little bubbles

Waited for a break in the rain - no break from the wind so it made for a cold walk around downtown NAPA. Stopped in a few shops till we could not take it any more. Moved on to what was our only wine tasting. Allison was our server and quite a knowledgeable wine lady.

This was our “tasting” menu. Supplemented by three others so nice tasting -yikes. And very generous \240pours hence only one tasting! And three hours long!

Two glasses of bubble to start

Julie and her Chardonnays.

18,19,and 20 - Three cabs and then one more 19!!!

Reserve with a fancy label.

Cheese - bought it but to tired to eat it!!

Two sleepless nights, a little to much wine and so we were in bed very early and woke up early.

The train - the train - today was all about the Napa Valley Wine train a 6+ hour journey with food, wine and tastings along the way.

All aboard!

Our picture from the train company.

First up was sparkling and salmon egg Benedict.

The yellow mustard flower that blooms In February and March here - stunning to see it everywhere!

That maple bacon made that plate!

Along the way, we saw art paintings - this was my favorite!

Wonder who she is???

Our first stop was at the famous sign for a three pour wine tasting in an open air car.

Just a little rain behind us.

The wine made especially for the train.

The three of us!

Long time friends - nice!

We made our way back to our seats for lunch.

Beef tenderloin and parsnips for Julie and Diane

Pork tenderloin and fingerling potatoes for me. Both were excellent!

A picture perfect example of the mustard flower.

First stop at Charles Krug. Three tastings - not quite a fan. What happened to our cabs???

Love love this table.

Our samples. As it was raining, didn’t get to explore the property much.

Back on the train for a little nibble of whipped brie and onto our next stop.

V Satuii - several wine pours but starting to run together. Again, mud everywhere so did not get to wander much except for the gift shop 🙃.

And of course dessert - orange crème brûlée and chocolate cake.

On the way back to the station, they turned the open air section into a dance floor - nice to move a little 💃💃

One of our hosts - Nick

And ended the day with a rainbow!

Today is our last day here and the sun is finally out!

This is our cute little inn.

Front door

The awnings - don’t stay in room 1 when there is wind.

Started the day at Rutherford Hills Winery and then stopped at a small family owned winery Madrigal Winery. Two wineries in one day is all we can handle! Beautiful weather today finally!

Nice view from the parking lot.

Small fire to chase off the chill.

The only Rose we tried.

Outside by the fields.

Happy Anniversary baby!

Vines…

Had a late lunch - burgers at Gotts Family’s roadside.

Headed back for a cat nap, wandered around downtown to look for the lighted displays, warm bath and bed.

Wine is starting to lose its allure for us- not sure we will come back. It is beautiful here - but expensive

Nice background!
