




After a pretty good flight in business class we spent ages getting through customs and missed our connecting flight.
But a lovely lady at AA got us on a late flight to Chicago and we arrived at 11pm. Manoeuvred our luggage onto the skyrail, which was like a roller coaster, and made it to the hire car.
Checked in to the Marriott at 1am and grabbed a Caesar Salad from their fridge for dinner!
Only a few hours sleep but we’re up and ready to go!
Didn’t sleep much but trying to get used to the new time zone. Left Chicago about 11am to drive to Sister Bay - arrived about 4:30pm
Lots of roadworks and an accident or two on the freeway. There’s the speed limit then the speed everybody drives! Didn’t see any police.
Fascinating cities on the way - big Amazon hub. Stopped at Best Buys which is a Good Guys!
Saw Robert and Emmett and met Charlie. Had dinner with the family at “Fat Belly” then went on Roberts cruise with Door County Cruises to watch the sunset over the bay.
Staying at Country House Resort which is lovely - great views.
Very tired tonight - looking forward to a good sleep!
Spent the day in Sister Bay, Ellison Bay Grills Rock. Visited all the local shops and the maritime museum. Found out why it’s called Deaths Door!
Had dinner at Boat House.I had the local whitefish and mum had lobster salad which came with half a lettuce! Visited Charlie’s Smokehouse for more whitefish.
Visited Egg Harbour and Fish Creek today. Had a real coffee and read up on the history… Toured a Historic House and did some shopping. Bought souvenirs for the family and a new outfit for me!
Robert and Emmett took us to Baileys Harbour in the afternoon to see lighthouses and a nature reserve.
Then we dined at Lure on steak and lobster. I had a lovely bath and went to bed early! Feeling much more relaxed
Walked through Ephraim today, saw Canadian geese! And I loved the very American houses with waterfronts and chairs and jetty’s.
Then we went to the local markets and bought some nuts!
Had lunch with Robert in Bailey’s Harbour. Mum had oysters… Stopped at the 45th parallel, half way to the North Pole!
And final stop at the Lavender Farm market direct from Washington Island
We went to Farmers Markets at Baileys Harbor today and saw some interesting food and items!!
Then we went to the park to play and Charlie had his first swing! I got sunburned… After we had lunch with Pat and Carl at The Alpine Resort which was lovely.
We stopped at the English Inn for cake and coffee
Went Baileys Harbour for the parade today. Lots of people, and a local \240business focus…
Spent the afternoon at Roberts with Emmett which was great. The most time so far - on our last day!
Drove to Chicago today through Milwaukee- pretty run down I thought.
Had a great dinner at Hugos Frog and Fish.. walked around the local area and went to Bloomingdale’s!
Had a great day in Chicago! Missed the Sky Deck because of the fog but enjoyed the bus trip and cruise! Had lunch at Navy Pier. And saw My Fair Lady at the Cadillac Palace Theatre which was great!
I could live here. \240The architecture is amazing
Left Chicago and drove through South Bend Indiana. Stopped at the National Studebaker Museum and the girls baseball museum. Fascinating!
Stopped for lunch at Kalamazoo! Great steak
Google maps only works some of the time but the route is pretty straight forward so we did t get lost!
Then finished at the Marriott in Lansing, Michigan - the capital! Did our washing :)
