DL200 was an hour late taking off due to removal of bags of group that missed the flight. Arrived ok at Johannesburg & spent the night at Southern Sun Hotel.

Hoedspruit

Easter Sunday - we are off from Johannesburg OR Tambo airport to Hoedspruit (HDS) on a Dash-8 turboprop.

After a chaotic scene at HDS and a grueling 2 hours on rough roads, we arrived st beautiful Nkorho Bush Lodge.

On our evening game run we saw:

- dwarf mongoose, impala, waterbuck, nyala, kudu, a dozen so or elephants, woodland kingfisher, hippo, a large male leopard (after a 2hr hunt), a pride of 15+ lion, gray heron, warthogs, Warburg eagle, bush hare, black backed jackal, lilac breasted roller.

Elephant, Fish eagle, Hipppos, two leopard, hyena, wilderbeest, magpie shrike, honey badger.

Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Ellen saw 11 lion drinking, two leopards, single lion, giraffe, kudu, two rhinos.

A giraffe came very close to our camp after lunch.

We found some endangered wild dogs on our evening game drive. Two hyenas wandered through the dog pack and nobody seemed concerned... the dogs just continued sleeping or whatever they were doing.

On the way home we saw a hippo in the bush and puff adder.

Nkorho Bush Lodge

Spent some quality time at a waterhole with a pride of lions. Also saw Anderson and Mona leopard mating.

This afternoon spotted a waterbuck, warthogs, a rhino. Returned to honeymoon leopards who were disturbed by a passing hyena.

Nkorho Bush Lodge

Raining last night and this morning so skipped AM game drive. Gavin gave some instruction on Lightroom.

This evening had \240nice sightings of giraffe and green pigeon. Fun in middle of active lion pride.

Saw this Verraux’s eagle owl on the way back to camp.

Beautiful sunrise this morning.

Encountered leopard and playful cub on the road near camp.

Met owners Derek and Barbara. His father bought land from Anderson, who was an informant during the Boer War. , Paul Kreuger gave the land to Anderson in recognition of his service.

Foggy start to the day:

But saw elephant, rhino, wilderbeest, warthog, impala, waterbuck, zebra

At our tea break this evening two male nyala just appeared and watched us then calmly walked off.
