We leave for vacation in a few hours. I am very excited because this is the first year that we are driving. We usually take a plane, but because of COVID-19/coronavirus we have to drive.

Yesterday, July 17, 2020, my family and I started our long drive to Oak Island, NC. We have to drive instead of flying because of COVID-19 or coronavirus. We will arrive at our beach house later today. So excited!

The view at night outside our hotel room.

The front of the hotel. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Knoxville, TN
We arrived at Emerald Breeze (that’s the name of the house that we are staying at) very late yesterday. I’m soooo excited! I can’t believe that we are finally here! The drive was so long that I thought that we would never get here.

The view from the hotel in the morning.

Pictures that I took yesterday on our drive to the Great Smoky Mountains.
Yesterday, we settled in. We finished unpacking the car, dad went to the store, and we figured out the TVs. Well, technically, I did.
Later, we went to the beach. At first we tried to go out using our beach access, but there wasn’t a place for us to put our stuff down because the water was very high. The water was so high up that it was touching the path through the dunes. So, we tried walking to the point, but decided to take the car instead after a bit of walking. We took the car and drove to another beach access and settled down there. We had lots of fun and Mary Kate actually went into the water right off the bat. Usually she gets in the water on the very last day of vacation, but this year she got in on the very first day. We are all so proud of her.
After the beach, we went home, showered, and started to watch a movie. Frozen 2, to be precise. We had to stop watching it because something went wrong with the internet, so we ate dinner. Salad🥗 and.......Pizza!!!!🍕(From Pepperoni Grill, the best restaurant on Oak Island. Then, we had dessert. Ice Cream Sandwiches!!!!🍨🥪 They were delicious! It took me a while to eat mine because I hate biting into ice cream because it’s too cold. I kind of licked at the ice cream until it got smaller, then bit into it a bit.
Overall, yesterday was a great day!

Yesterday afternoon, we went to the beach. Instead of driving today, we tried our beach access again and found a different path to the beach that worked. Overall, it was really fun.

Yesterday, we went to the beach and we had fun.

Yesterday, Matthew, Micah, and dad went on a fishing charter. They caught a Spanish mackerel, one Atlantic Sharpnose shark, one Blacktip Reef shark, one Blacknose shark, one Spinner shark, and three Croaker.
When they came back home, we ate lunch, then headed outside to the beach. We had a lot of fun.
