After spending a few days in southern Utah, we headed north to Richfield for two weeks. We had a great surprise for Jackson - the Duffy family was meeting up with us for a week so he and Finn got to spend more time together.

View from Richfield KOA

We upgraded our spot to one with a patio and fire pit

My work view everyday! Weather was amazing!

Presley was so amazing with Grace - she let her do her hair and entertained her all week

Chilling in the Duffy RV

Across from the campground was a soccer field

We used it several times

One night we had both families out running the field

The Duffys are big soccer fans and pretty much kicked our butts!

First adult night out without kids in months!

Pedicure time

Michelle, Presley, Grace and I thoroughly enjoyed our girl time

We went on a major adventure on the weekend and took both trucks into the northern part of Capitol Reef National Park. We drove on 12 miles of unimproved roads to get down into the canyon. We did a short hike to see the cathedrals

We can no longer see the trucks

They look like church cathedrals made of sand

Such an amazing hike

Looked like enormous sand castles

On Mother’s Day, we drove up to Fish Lake to cookout and try some fishing

It was very windy

Yum! S’mores!

The last weekend in Richfield we explored this state park

Our archaeologist

Examining stuff in the kids lab area of the visitor center

We hiked a little around the park - this view shows where the mountains were blasted through in the 1980s for a new highway - this is when most of the Native American ruins were found

They were teaching how to throw atlatls at the state park

We got to go on a hunt around the park to try to hit various animals with the atlatls

Jason giving it a try - much harder than it looks

Exploring the underground hut

So much cooler inside than up top!

Grain storage

Many petroglyphs

More petroglyphs

And more

And more! This was a fun place to explore until we ventured down a path and ran into a rattlesnake!

Kids found a skatepark in Richfield

Team work!

Some times they ride and sometimes they run

Grace getting used to the ramps

He’s getting braver going off jumps

One of our final adventures in this area was going mountain biking

This was Grace’s first time

It took some patience (on my part) but she did pretty good even though she had to push her bike sometimes

Pretty proud of her abilities and giving this a try!
