We headed out front m Mesa on Father’s Day and spent the night at Juniper Ridge in Show Low, AZ. We had a great visit with our wonderful friends Charles and Joanne and a fabulous dinner at their house.

We have been in Colorsdo north of the Denver area since June 19th. We are enjoying the cool nights and spent a week at Marshall Lake in Superior where we have a private membership.

I managed to catch a nice trout the 2nd day we were there. Of course our friend Chuck had to take it off the hook for me since I still don’t touch fish.

But .... I am now equipped with fishing gloves and a hook remover so I ‘think” I can do it. \240I fished many more hours with my new equipment at ready but sadly didn’t catch another fish.

The views of the Flatiron Mountains surrounding the lake were incredible both morning and evening.

There were six white pelicans with black wingtips hanging out at the lake. They looked so graceful as they glided around.

We were amazed to see 2 bull elks with antlers in velvet right next to the road to the lake.

The next day there were 3 of them just across the road but I didn’t see them.

Here’s another couple of fabulous sunsets.

We enjoyed spending time in such a beautiful place and hated to leave on the 30th. It was starting to get crowded with people coming out for the week of the 4th so we left.

We went for a nice walk today at a nearby neighborhood here in the Erie / Broomfield area. It is called Anthem Colorado and has wonderful walking paths, lakes and great landscaping.

A blue Herron also loves the area.

Our friend Lynne and Donna are all lined up with us \240to watch the Erie, CO fireworks display. There was a big thunderstorm earlier but all is well now.

This lovely bull frog gave me a scare earlier as I came out if the motor home.

We got to watch another fireworks display on the 4th in Louisville, CO. It was great. Luckily we got back home before a major thunderstorm hit with lots of lightning and heavy rains.

It was a gorgeous sunset prior to the fireworks.

We spotted this blue heron while walking the trails at Anthem, CO. He posed nicely for us.

Today we helped our friend Bonnie celebrate her 75th birthday (along with about 75 other close friend and family).

Here is Bonnie trying to whack the piñata.

Some hot air balloons flew right over our friends Lynne and Donna’s house this morning as we we getting ready to leave for Nebraska in the RV.

We passed into Nebraska around 3:00 pm and spent the night in Ogallala.

We are in Grand Island, NE visiting Bill’s mom, sister and nieces and nephews. We are staying at Hall County Park just south of town. It is a gorgeous place - so green and beautifully manicured.

Bill’s Mom Elna trying to stay warm in the AC.

Bill’s sister Terri and their very spoiled dog Snuggles.

Hey, the Chantix turkey paid us a visit and brought several of his closest friends.

I didn’t see any of them smoking either. They like hanging out right by our camping spot here at Hall County Park in Grand Island, NE.

We bid farewell to Bill’s mom, sister, nieces and nephews today. Ww are headed to Storm Lake, IA tomorrow.

We arrived at Storm Lake, IA. We will spend a couple of days here before going on to Forest City, IA for the Winnebago Rally. \240There’s even a lighthouse as you enter town.

The RV Park is directly across the street from the lake. There was a great sunset

We sat on a bench in the beautiful park and watched all the activity on the water.

We have arrived in Forest Ciry , IA for the Winnebago Rally.

It is the 50th Winnebago Grand National Rally. Their theme this year is “Bound by the W”.

A big thunderstorm delayed us in getting parked right away, but we were in and parked by about 3:40 pm.

All parking is on huge grassy fields so the rain made it a bit interesting in getting parked and leveled due to the soggy conditions.

There are approximately 900 RVs here for the rally.

The community celebrates Puckerbrush Days on the 18h.through the 21s of July. \240This included a parade, beer garden, ice cream social, pie feast and pancake breakfasts. \240I volunteered to join the WIT (Winnebago Itasca Travelers) singers and got to ride on a their float

This is a partial shot of the WIT singers float.

Here are other Winnebago floats.

This group is known as the Winnie “Bs” as the have class B motor homes. Some are even dressed up as bees. Their theme was the hippie era.

The whole town was lined up in their front yards to watch the parade.

Of course the kids were very interested in the candy thrown from some of the floats. Evidently the girl on the left didn’t like our singing.

This is a statue stands in the fountain in front of the courthouse in Forest City. It a Union soldier and was dedicated in June of 1900.

We had great entertainment! \240Monday the 22nd was Stephanie Quayle.

She cane down in the crowd and interacted with the crowd. This young man was absolutely thrilled.

We made a trip to Mason City, IA so I could get bloodwork done. On the way back we had the opportunity to see this wind farm propeller trying to exit I-35. The whole intersection was blocked and we weren’t sure if he made it around the corner but r not. The flag man waved us around the corner onto the northbound ramp. There were 2 more propellers coming down the off ramp behind this one.

Wind farms generate 40% of the electricity in IA. We have never seen so many wind farm locations. The average length of a propeller is 113 feet. We saw a train heading west several days earlier with these propellers stacked on flatbeds. Getting them to their installation location must be a major accomplishment.

I would have loved to see them install the blades on this one.

The entertainment on Wednesday night was Home Free.

They are an amazing all acapella country band. \240The drums and guitars are actually created by the singers using only a microphone. We really enjoyed their concert.

The closing night entertainment was Chris Kroeze who finished 2nd in this years “The Voice” competition. He was great and his violinist Is really talented too.

We left Forest City today and headed west. \240We stopped in Onawa. IA just in the east side of the Missouri River.

We are staying overnight at On-ur-wa RV Park. It’s a great park and nicely shaded.

This is a cute mile pole pointing in every direction. It has mileage markers to Gila Bend, AZ, Watertown, NY and even Aviano, Italy, which by the way is 4,948 miles

Here we are under a big shade tree.

We spent 3 days in Grand Island visiting Bill’s Mom, sister, nieces and nephews. We stayed at Hall County Park again. What a beautiful place.

A small tributary of the Platte River runs just to the north with a great walking path adjacent to it.

It was a favorite place for the blue herons.

The wild turkeys were back too plus the added bonus if lightning bugs when the sun went down.

We said a sad farewell to Bill’s mom and sister Terri. We did have a great visit with them.

After visiting the lake, we stopped at Boot Hill which has a number of graves from the late 1800s.

Today we headed toward.Colorado and stopped for the night at Ogallala. We took s drive about 10 miles north to Lake Ogallala and Lake McConaughy.

The above pics are of Lake Ogallala and the spillway from Lake McConaughy. Below are pics of Lake McConaughy which is 22 miles long, 142’ deep at deepest point, and has 105 miles of white sand beaches. It is Nebraska’s top walleye fishery with the record being 16 Lbs 2 oz.

We are back in the Denver area and decided to spend some time again at Marshall Lake.

Just cannot get enough of the gorgeous sunsets.

Early mornings are just as beautiful as sunset. Wish we lived closer so we could enjoy this on a regular basis

The white bird is a pelican gliding over the water. We saw blue heron too but they were shying away from photos. We had a great time. No fish though I guess it was too hot. But I sure enjoyed trying.

Had breakfast with our great friends Pastor Ben and Bonnie and caught up on all the latest happenings. Always enjoy our get togethers.

Saying goodbye to the Mile High city and heading back to the AZ heat. We both are ready to get home again.
