1
Salt Lake City

Starting our trip out from Salt Lake so we could catch Muscadine Bloodline

2
Idaho Falls

Starting our northern trek! First stop in Idaho Falls along the Snake River. Denali went swimming of course. Twice.

3
Bozeman Hot Springs Campground

Driving along the Gallatin River near Big Sky, Montana.

Our campsite in Bozeman

Brad and Denise are right behind us, and Denali has his own little creek!

The best part is the campground is attached to a hot springs resort!

4
Madison River

Getting ready to float 5.5 miles down the Madison River, putting in at California Corner.

Nice, gentle float with some beers. Doesn’t get much better!

Denali approved!

5
Watchdog Winery

We rolled into a Harvest Host called Watchdog Winery in Dixon, Montana - just north of Missoula.

Beautiful property right on the Flathead River.

Hard to believe they grow grapes here, but they do!

They produce a few wines from extremely cold hardy vines whose roots go down 40 feet.

And Montana continues to deliver the sunsets.

Getting a little husky sass tonight!

6
Mountain View RV Park

Stopped at Flathead Lake for lunch. Such a pretty lake.

And then set up camp in Columbia Falls, Montana - in between Glacier National Park and the Big Mountain Ranch.

Time for cocktails and cornhole!

7
West Glacier

Heading into the park for the afternoon

Love that Glacier keeps this tradition of using these old limos for tour buses.

Lake MacDonald

Too bad it was cloudy - I couldn’t quite capture the colors of the rocks.

We were going to paddleboard, but it was a little chilly.

Not for the husky!

One of the falls just above Lake MacDonald.

Just love that glacier fed water color.

Going to the Sun Road!

We timed it right for wildflowers

And look who is parked as we come back into town!

Back at the RV… “I don’t know if I brought enough toys.”

8
Big Mountain Ranch

Festival day! Time for a little glitter.

Look who we found all the way up here in Montana!

This is one of the best parts of this festival - you can park it in the trees for the day and enjoy the shade. Got to remember our hammocks next time!

We went hat shopping!

Had a late brunch in downtown Whitefish before heading to the festival.

Gorgeous day at the ranch!

Got our spot at the edge of the forest!

Can you say cowboy Steve? ❤️

10
Johnson's of St. Mary

We drove Going to the Sun Rowd to East Glacier today, but no sun!

The east side was especially socked in

St Mary’s Lake

So we continued on to East Glacier to Johnson’s of St Mary’s

Strangest little place with entertainment all over the walls.

And don’t ask about the soup. It’s just Good Soup!

Denali was wiped put from daycare and his spa day when we picked him up!

11
Spokane

In Spokane, WA for three days for Jess’ work conference.

12
Caprio Cellars

Arrived in Walla Walla, WA today. We’re staying at Caprio Cellars, one of our wine clubs.

They have a couple RV spots for members and we pretty much have the place to ourselves after 5:00 pm.

Denali loves his daddy time! (Video)

13
Walla Walla

Part of our Caprio membership gave us a VIP lunch, which was incredible.

The best part was the halibut with a tobiko burre blanc.

We headed out to the Rocks District next. This part of the valley has 400 foot deep rocks that were carried in by the Missoula Flood and significantly changes the terrior for the grapes.

Rotie Cellars - we ended up joining their club for their unique Syrahs and their everyday GSM.

Stopped at Kinhaven Winery on the way back.

We wore Denali out enough that he was snuggly!

14
Lindsay Creek Vineyards

Last stop in Walla Walla - Garrison Creek Cellars.

This property is just stunning. Around 200 acres of vines, but the winery is small production.

The winery itself was built to suit and might be the most impressive gravity fed winery we’ve seen.

And the cellar and barrel room was equally impressive.

Their allocation is full, but we got to do a barrel tasting and a library tasting. We got on the waiting list of course.

We had a little fiasco with the truck batteries and had some unplanned down time, so lunch at another recommended winery seemed to be in order while Walmart patched us up. This charcuterie board at The Walls might have been the best ever.

On to our next stop in Lewiston, ID.

Lindsay Creek Vineyards, a Harvest Host set on the upper plateaus.

Denali was completely wiped for some reason.

But not so much to miss flushing the pheasants from the wheat fields and watching the flocks of Canadian geese come in to settle for the night.

15
McCall

Driving along the Salmon River to McCall.

Denali likes it here! Downtown McCall.

Exploring the shoreline of Payette Lake.

Bike trails everywhere here!

And look who we found munching greens along the upper fork.

We’re floating the Meanders today, the upper section of the Payette that empties into the lake.

Denali is master of the paddleboard

Steve might be too

We paddled about 4 miles

Okay, maybe not masters. Denali just dumped Steve in the river. 😂

At the takeout at Payette Lake

We wore the husky out!

Last night in McCall and the sunset didn’t disappoint!

16
Anderson Reserve

Back at Anderson Reserve in Sweet, Idaho!

Might be the last chance to wear the hats!

The beef Wellington was amazing

We discovered this place a couple years ago, and the Cigar Silo was just being built. It’s now a phenomenal whiskey bar and humidor.

What?!? Somewhere we can sit inside and smoke cigars! This must be backwoods Idaho.

The walls are decorated with all these cool historic gas masks. 😆

An outdoor view of Anderson Reserve - they’ve really realized their vision

17
Payette River Company

We are on the South Fork of the Payette River!

Rhis beautiful stretch has waterfalls and hot springs everywhere - or sometimes waterfall hot springs!

But better yet, it’s non-stop class III and IV rapids!

25 named rapids in about 12 miles.

Oh, and a class VI waterfall that requires portaging the rafts arpund the falls.

Our guide kind of screwed up rhe entry to the last class IV and decided to take us down backwards (rather than sideways, which would have flipped us!)

We still almost got eaten!

18
Stanley Lake

There’s one of the rapids we ran yesterday!

We stopped at Kirkham Hot Springs to check it out

It has several pools, including quite a few along the Payette River being fed by a hot waterfall

Coming up on the Sawtooths!

Boondocking at Stanley Lake, one of our favorite places!

Denali LOVES this place because he gets to be free

Just look at that view behind Steve

Checking out Sunbeam Hot Springs along the Salmon River

19
Sunbeam Hot Springs

What a place to watch the race!

Afternoon Jeep ride

So much of the forest has been burned since we were last here. Stanley Lake is still beautiful though.

Denali got to play his favorite game - squirrel chasing!

He loves to jump our of the Jeep and chase the squirrels into their holes or trees

And didn’t mind getting covered in soot!

Back at the hot springs for a soak

Our new solar lights add some fun colors to our camp

20
Holesinsky Vineyard and Winery

Saying goodbye to Stanley till next time

We’re staying at a little Harvest Host winery in Buhl, Idaho.

The parking was rather tight

But grounds are pretty and they have wine and corn hole!

Of course Denali had to lay down in their pond so he smelled like a swamp thing all evening

21
Midway

Last day on the road!

We managed to wear the husky out thoroughly!

2182 miles, 41 bands, 25 rapids, 24 days, 12 destinations, 7 wineries, 6 states, 5 hot springs, 3 rivers, 2 cowboy hats, 1 national park, and many memories!
