Mary is on a zoom call, Pat is getting massage

The whole experience of traveling internationally is a bit stressful for me anyway. Add in Covid, and a winter storm prevented the crew from arriving at the appropriate destinations to get us here was a huge stressful adventure for me.

It all started Friday night and we I just returned from dinner at brasserie. The intention for me was to have a delightful evening together. And begin or French adventure with Casso

We had worked out haircuts in Covid test for our trip and I was feeling pretty confident we were on our way.

Over dinner said to me, “you know this is not over”. “I won’t feel like we’re on our way until we get on that plane tomorrow. As we were finishing our packing Friday night and I got a message that our flight has been canceled. American Airlines automatically moved us to Sunday same time same place. Yes cause me to cancel the Winair flight from Saint Maarten to Saint Barts.

I thought I was being smart by changing our booking to Charlotte th an Saint Martin. Whoever at 1:30 in the morning on Sunday morning we got notified that our flight to Charlotte onto Saint Martin was canceled. We were literally on our way to the airport with McKenzie and her girlfriends Lilley and Regan when Mary

We didn’t know what to do other than keep going. But Mary got my phone open trying to call the airlines she noticed that they rebooked us through two Saint Martin through Miami. Lucky for us.

Vivi is such a delightful human being

This morning I was up early. I always like my quiet time too reflect and collect the memories from the day before. I also like to write from one of those reflections in the way of the story.

Pat came in and wanted to visit. She is a delightful human being. I can truly see that she had an extraordinary relationship with Gary during their 18 years together. She has been through a lot losing Gary and having to sell her home in Sedona and their condo in Clayton. This time together has been lucky for all of us.

Tonight we are having dinner at L’esprit a restaurant phoned and operated by Jean Claude Dufor. It will be classic French. Formal, beautiful, thoughtful, eight lesson in French cooking. I’m looking forward to it

Vivi stopped by to let us know that the noise would be minimized in the morning.

A lot of noise outside.

We started our day with demolition in the Villa next two hours. In addition it was true size concrete saws and demolition going on for the Wi-Fi installation. Mary had a conference call required a quiet space and this was not gonna work here

So we headed down to Chris W. Pat and I had breakfast add lock cantina. Lisa was our server. She was from Baris and didn’t like living in a big city.

Being in their environment made me remember why I love Saint Barts. Extremely service oriented, loving, gentle and beautiful people.

I downloaded my manuscript from Mary Holden and began reviewing it.

I can’t wait to read through ones get a sense of how to not just enhance each story but also have the reader join me in my journey through both defeat and victory.

Julia with son

Johnny the owner of fish corner. He grew up on the island the son of a fisherman. He still gets his fresh fish every day from his brother who continued into the family business

One of our favorite luncheon spots. Fish corner right in the middle of Gustavia

Liza was our server this morning. She is from Paris and wants to get out of big city. She will be returning in May

Lunch at the Villa

My first rosé of the trip. A little restaurant located near the port of departure in Marigot, S

Each day I feel closer to the Island I know and love

Mary had a board meeting and coaching this morning. I read some of the book. And begin making some adjustments.

We got away from the Bella and headed for lunch about 130. We headed to gypsy. It’s beautiful indoor outdoor beach location right on St. John. I enjoyed mahi tartare and we got octopus grilled.

I forgot how expensive this restaurant was until I looked at the prices on the menu. A little over the top for us.

We ran into Cyril and his wife Emily. They are so kind and generous. Cyril Owens Sheba hey device that propels you through the water and allows you to dive in surface under its own Jack.

After lunch we headed to the beach where I was met with some beautiful topless women. This has me feel at home. (I am so simple)

When we were leaving the beach about 445, we heard music playing and people clapping and dancing in the bar area. Edmond and Cyril assisted me in getting off the beach house there are several steps. Heads across the last step the music was playing right by me in my wheelchair. And I had to start dancing. It was so fun.

Took it digger

I couldn’t help my curiosity got the best of me. I had to find out what was going on in the unit next to ours here at Coco De Mer. I just kind of went over to the edge where it begin to get steep and I kept wanting to get a little bit closer. And before I knew it I was in the middle of Sandy gravelly service on top of the concrete they had me begin sliding and going faster than I anticipated.

Then before I knew it I was twisting to the to the left then I was worried about flipping over to the right and so I turned it back to the right and then I turned and landed on my side to the left hitting my head hurting my rib on the last skin in my legs and it huge hematoma on my left hip.

I didn’t expect any of this when I first started my exhibition or journey to figure out what they were doing and modifying in the construction.

Mary call Vivi. Vivi called the hospital. And within 10 minutes in the ambulance and four ambulance workers were here to find out if there was anything wrong with me. Before the ambulance came to fellas who were here asked if they could assist and they dead. I was up in my chair and moved into the common area of Arvilla when they arrived.

Bottom line, I had my first trip to the hospital here in St. Barth and my second ride in a ambulance. The people were delightful and othbruises and bumps I’m going to be just fine.
