We travelled to Alibaug at the end of monsoon season. Lovely lush greenery surrounding private beaches, filled with silence, lovely sands, black rocks and beautiful sea waters welcomes us. Alibaug means Alichi bagh in Marathi. Found in the 17th century, surrounded by villages, coconut trees and mangroves this place was initially was called as Eli Cha Bagh which over years turned as Alibag.

From Mumbai 3 hours brought us to this famous, weekend hangout spot of Maharashtra. We checked in at Hotel West Coast-Nagaon. Nagaon beach is very near to this resort. We wanted to laze around, walk by the beaches, feel the lovely cool waters touch our feet and be totally away from city hustle and bustle life of Mumbai. We stayed for 3 days. Totally visited five beaches. One beach was the famous Alibaug beach while the other four beaches are secluded ones.

The secluded beaches of Alibaug of more of silence, deserted, light brown and dark sands, black hard rocks and green mangroves all over. Let me begin with

-NAGAON Beach- Suru trees cover this beach. Famous for home stays and resorts near the beach, sunsets are very picturesque. Here you get to see the calm side of Arabian Sea. The waters are very cool. A place you could stroll for hours, or sit by the rocks to watch the lovely sea waters come and go by. An ideal picnic spot popular for mesmerising greenery. Jet skiing, parasailing and motor bike rides are very famous here. There are camel and horse rides too. Chai, Chicken thali and Bangda thali are yummy here. Alibaug beach is the nearest spot to visit near this beach. We spent a full two hours in this beach. Reached by 4pm and left after sunset.

1) Nagaon beach

-KASHID BEACH- From Nagaon this beach is 45 minutes away. A very clean beach famous for white clean sand and water. A beach where you get to see a stretch full of mangroves that come half way through the sea. This spot will soon turn into a place, where jetties from Mumbai will arrive. A less crowded beach filled with enough activities to do. Banana boat rides are very famous here besides camel rides and motor bike rides. Beach shacks make this beach very lively every evening. Chai and pomfret fry are very famous bites besides coconut water, Bhajji and kombadi wade.

2) KASHID Beach

-KAROLI BEACH- Serene, very secluded, untouched nature beauty surrounded by Sahyadri ranges, this beach has a great history behind the lovely waters. The first Navy base was done in this beach. This beach has some old lighthouses used during Maratha regime. There is a very old watch tower which is in ruins now, facing the beach. The waters are so calm that we arrived just before sunset. Sun rays were pouring over the waters giving a full gleam to the whole place. Being a secluded beach, not much activities are done here. You could watch the lovely waters comes and go by absorbing the silence around you. From Kashid Karoli is 15 minutes away.

3) Karoli beach

-REVDANDA BEACH- Just minutes away drive brings you to one of the most lovely, unpolluted lovely beach Revdanda. The sands are very dark brown in color. Driver shared that, this beach is where the ashes are dropped. One side surrounded by misty mountains, one side is full of greenery while the third and fourth side is devoted to beach waters. There is pin drop silence in this beach for many don’t know much about this beach. When we went only three families along with us were present. Not much activities prevail on the beach. Sunset is so beautiful for if you are lucky like us, you get to see the light line gleam of the spot where waters touch the sky.

4) Revdanda beach

With this we completed our half day travel and returned back to the resort. Beaches have always been an integral part of my life, for I hail from a coastal metro city- Chennai. So used to seeing Bay of Bengal that viewing the dark blue seawaters of Arabian Sea etched a deep memory in my mind which I will carry for life time.
