We have arrived 🙌

The boys did amazing on the flight and both managed some sleep. \240After lots of questions and concerns from Noah over the past month leading into it he settled into the flight and declared “it’s just like the dentist Mum, not as bad as I thought”.

The wrapped presents that I gave the kids throughout he flight certainly helped in some of the more restless moments along with the endless supply of tv and movies.

Kylie and the sun welcomed us to London and we spent the day settling into Brads. \240Soaking up some sun at the common and grabbing some lunch from local high st. \240Finished it off woth a walk and mini golf and dinner in the garden.

🙏 Sun

🙏 Smooth flights

🙏 loving the smells, the culture, the LIFE and lack of masks 🙌

Funny things they say 😂

Harvey “the air coaster”

Great official first day of our trip. \240After a good nights sleep we were ready to go. \240Jay and the boys met Bryce and Guinness for a walk whilst I had a beautiful morning walk along Chiswick High St. \240

after breakfast we headed into Shepherds Bush and had a little shop around Westfield and lunch at Jays favourite Thai restaurant.

Then we continued into Piccadilly Circus - beautiful sights woth sun shining, past buzzing Hyde Park and down a jubilee decorated Oxford St.

We walked around to Leister Square had a much anticipated ice block and then made our way home via the tube and train.

Favourite part of the day ❤️

Noah’s ❤️ tube

Ali’s ❤️ bus ride into Piccadilly

🙏 we made it! \240We are here and I’m so grateful and proud of us for making it happen

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Harvey, Jay and I started the day at 2:30am after Harvey woke and didn’t manage to go back to sleep 😱

I enjoyed another morning walk whilst the boys met Guinness and Bryce again for a play. \240

We figured get out early and do something before Harvey lost it so took a train to Kew and walked down to the Gardens. \240There was a cool children’s playground there that occupied the boys somewhat before we made a mad dash for home so Harvey could sleep.

For dinner we went to Kylie and Dave’s and the kids all had such an awesome time playing together. \240It really warms my heart to see - Jay and Kylie are such close friends so for our kids to all come together and hit it off like that was definitely the highlight of the day! \240

😬🙄 Gentle parent reminder was Harvey pulling his pants down in the middle of Kee Gardens playground for a pee ... nice reminder that we may be in London but for Harvey we may as wel be in the backyard 🤪

Morning walks filled with dreamy sights

Harvey just wanted to fish!

But hazy this morning after Kylies goblets of aperol spritz but still managed my morning walk whilst the boys played woth Guinness. Loving our morning ritual, loving the mornings in \240general. \240Sun is up just before 5am, the flowers are smelling so sweet and it’s lovely to be out watching London slowly come alive ... the gentle hustle and bustle opposed to the hectic one that builds as the day goes on.

We borrowed Brads car and headed up to Jays old neck of the woods. \240Did drive by’s all his old places - a great trip down memory lane. \240We stopped at a mall and got the boys a few things ... Noah’s first pair of jeans and vans!

We had lunch at Jays colleague John and Emma’s. \240Another hot hot day but lovely house and garden and beautiful generous hosts. \240The boys had a great time playing with toys they were gifted and the lunch spread was delicious. \240We headed home late in the afternoon and went straight to Brads local The Station for our first pub meal.

Aaah the symmetry 🙌

Dolsen Palace

Another flat ...

So much love for Guinness

Happily woke at 4:30am and enjoyed almost 2 hours sipping on tea and playing on my laptop solo 🙌☕️

Got my walk in before Jay and Brad headed off for a day of golf. \240With an expected top of 33 degrees I decided to go in search of water for the kids.

We bused to Kensington Gardens and started off at the Diana Memorial Playgriund which was gated and very thought out. \240The boys were not as impressed as I and were keen for water. \240We loaded up on ice cream and then walked, and walked AND walked until we finally found what may as well have been an oasis at that point! \240They cooled down with a splash in the water and then we made the massive journey to Paddington Station. \240We had lunch, bought some Paddington memorabilia and luckily found our train home woth ease because we were on the brink of everything coming undone! \240Off the train and another 15 min walk until we flopped on the couch overheated and exhausted ☀️🥵

I was so proud of the boys (and me) today - we navigated a massive 5kms in total in some serious heat and then topped it off with the busy and intense Paddington Station - all with no official meltdowns and minimal dramas 🙌💃💙💙

That was us for the day aside from a spray down in the backyard and loads of tv and I was counting down the minutes for Jay to get home at 6pm!

Too cool waiting for the bus 😎

Walking ...

Walking ....

We found it 🙌💦🙌

More walking ...

Paddington Station

Headed out for a family walk with Bryce and Guinness along the river near Richmond. \240Then went out for lovely brunch in Chiswick.

Home for a quick shower and we drove up to Sid and Miwon’s for a lovely lunch. \240It was so wonderful to meet Jays boss from his London days. \240They were so hospitable - another feast was served, we had a beautiful walk in the woods their house backs on to and then back to continue the feast woth fresh dumplings! \240We left woth doggy bags to last a week and two tired boys. \240Thankfully they had a dog - Butch - who kept the boys company but both boys struggled today. \240Home to bed! \240

🙏 It is so beautiful be welcomed into people’s home and see the love and respect they have for Jay

Fathers Day in the UK today but probably more exciting for the boys was we got to look after Guinness for the day. \240

Jay took the boys and Guinness for a walk and I did my usual. \240

I cooked up a Fathers Day breakfast and then we headed to the National History Mueseum. \240There was a cool dinosaur exhibit but the kids weren’t not overly taken by any of it - probably still a bit young and it was very busy. \240We motored through each exhibit and had a quick lunch nearby before heading home so Harvey could rest. \240He still is extremely tired during the day so we are restricted woth how far and how long we can go out for. \240

I ended up getting off at Turnham Green and had a lovely stroll through the second hand stores. \240I then decided to go to Shepherds Bush Westfield which was a bad call - so busy and exhausting to find anything. \240

Came home to jittery unsettled boys 🤪😩 Headed our determined time have a nice dinner for Fathers Day ... went to a lovely steak restaurant in Turnham Green ❤️💙

Most grateful today for some alone time to wander through the streets and shops.

Most challenged today by London on weekend mode - felt so much busier then we have encountered so far and felt smothered by it all. \240

Morning walk but no Guinness this morning.jay attempted to get Harvey to have a morning nap in the car but no luck.

We set out for a day of sight seeing starting to the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. \240It was a lot busier then expected which was a beautiful reminder of how tourism is getting up and away here again ... I just loved being in a crowd surrounded by different accents and languages. \240The kids were amazed by the palace and the guards. \240They put on a show and played some very unexpected music.

From there we walked down the mall and past Big Ben and over the bridge to the London Eye. \240Noah was unsure about the height of the ride but like many things for him over analysed and then totally enjoyed it. \240Was a great way to see the city and get our bearings.

After the Eye we enjoyed soaking up the glorious weather while the kids played on the playground. \240Just loving the atmosphere, the energy and the SUN.

We headed home for a BBQ dinner and off to bed ... another jammed pack fun day!

🙏 For the sun

🙏 For the stunning hostorical buildings and architecture

🙏 For family adventures

It’s LEGO land day!

Walk and Guinness play to start. \240Got to meet baby Flynn and catch up with Tessa.

We borrowed Brads car and drove to Windsor to Lego land. \240The kids didn’t know what to expect (not did we really) but the whole experience was pretty epic. \240We fortunately chose the big rides to start the day and ensured we got through without massive lines. \240As the day built the busier we got. \240Noah said a number of times “thank you for bringing us here” ... those moments of genuine gratitude make my heart melt. \240Noah was in anxious/excited mode most of the day which continues to be challenging to navigate as he pours the energy onto Harvey and then Harvey has to navigate it as well. \240

It’s was so fun to see the kids experience all the magic and feel scared and the thrill of the rides. \240

🙏 Many moments of pinch ourselves and gratitude today - so grateful for what we are gifting our kids

I added a workout into my morning routine as I was starting to feel frustrated that I wasn’t fitting one in at the end of the day.

We headed into Soho in search of a cupcake shop recommended to us by Lauren back home cakes Crumbs and Dollies ... it was in the gorgeous little food court called Kingly Court. \240After over indulging on cupcakes and cookies we took the kids for an explore in Hamleys Toy Store. \240The set up was amazing, 5 floors filled with toys and \240lots of hands on stations and fun friendly staff doing demonstrations. \240The kids were in heaven!

From there we bussed to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch ... a trip down memory lane and the most amazing surprise to see Gurdy, Katerina and James (the snob) all still working there. \240They gave us 50% off which was a nice added surprise. \240It was really special to be back and triggered lots of memories from those days.

Noah and I left Jay and Harvey to find somewhere for Harvey to sleep as he was a grumpy tired mess and we headed to the Lyceum Theatre to see The Lion King. \240Another “pinch me” moment for sure. \240Taking my son to a production in the West End ... I thought of Granny and how incredibly grateful I am for this experience. \240The show was amazing and Noah enjoyed it. \240He is so alert always wanting to hold my hand when we are amongst the crowds, concerned if we have enough time to go to the toilet before the show starts, are we going the right way - reminds me of myself and I worry that he worries too much.

After the show Noah and I made our way back to Acton to meet Jay, Harvey, Bryce, Tessa, Flynn and Guinness at the pub for dinner.

What an amazing day 🙌❤️🙏

🙏 It was all pinch me moments today! \240So incredibly grateful for this trip.

🙏 the random acts of kindness and chats with people on our way - tube chats and conductors going out of there way to engage ... Noah was invited to say “please mind the gap” over the loud speaker at Embankment Station on the way home from the theatre ... is this London?!? \240Are we being watched over? \240Either way so so grateful 🙏🙏🙏

Brads Bday today 🥳

We started off a usual routine - walk, I got in a workout and then we headed down to a cafe on his High St for brunch.

The boys were twitchy and I felt a bit out of sorts - had had such a full on and exciting start to the week and today I feel like we were all coming down a bit (plus I got my period which I’m sure added to the overall mood).

Jay and Brad headed off to golf for the day and from our moods I knew a day close to home is what we all needed. \240We spent the rest of the morning at home chilling - the boys played LEGO peacefully for an hour. \240When it was time to get out we had a round of mini golf at the local park, ice blocks, playground play and then Harvey had a massive meltdown with lots of swearing and kicking. \240We made a run for home and spent a few hours watching movies, Harvey napped and it was just what we needed. \240One more run around at the park before home for left overs and bed ... Harvey took 2 hours to get to sleep that night ... Happy Summer Solctice to me!!! \240

🙏 Slow days bringing some balance to the fast pace we have had so far.

The start of the melt down - it followed loud explosions of shit and fuck 😬🙄

The lining up!

I tried for about 30 min to lock the door - desperate to get out for an afternoon run in the park I ended up leaving the door unlocked 🤯. It was one of those days!!!

Today was a bit of jumbled day. \240After morning workout whilst kids had a quick catch up woth Guinness in the park we headed off to explore Richmond High St. \240another lovely area woth gorgeous village feel. Harvey chose a cupcake and Noah chose a pair of jean! \240 Harvey was tired by the time we got there (think we know now we need a pram for him) so there was frustration on my part because I just wanted to roam the shops but ended up rushing through and dealing with tired boys.

We headed home for Harvey to have a nap only to realise we left a bag of shopping where we had lunch so Noah and I went back for about her adventure and a quick look at some more shops.

It amazes me how different Noah is one on one and how much more relaxed he is - looking for opportunities to create this peace for him when Harvey is around.

We heaed home and met the others at Brads pub before I went for a much needed wax!

Bra

d made cabanara for dinner which was a lovely treat and we had Bday cake for desert that Lisa sent him.

🦋 Reminder today that not all days go to plan, not all days feel a flow.

🙏 For one on one time with my big boy

Missed a walk this morning but got a workout in before breakfast.

We headed off with Brad to check out his latest development in Fulham and then had a play in the park at Fulham Common. \240Another beautiful area - Park was buzzing woth Saturday morning actuiviites. \240Both boys completely off wall all morning - we were discussing leaving on Monday and think it sent Noah into a spin for Harvey to follow.

A much needed stop to Fulham Chiro to get adjusted and reconnect woth Susan from my class. \240It was so wonderful to all be adjusted and everyone felt lighter after.

Then we head down to Clapham South to check out my old flat on Shandon Rd (which took a little bit of searching the memory bank!!)

The local high st - Abbeville Rd is gorgeous and Noah and I enjoyed a little wander in a few of the deli’s and green grocers.

T

hen it was time to head back to Brads to join in woth his bday bbq. \240It was nice to meet some more of his friends and theor kids.

Despite the kids being so tired we head out again at 5:30pm and went to join Kylie, Dave and the kids in Hyde Park to listen to the overflow of the Rolling Stones concert ... it was a great night - just so much joy watching the kids run and play and release some built up tension.

We taxi’d home at 10pm ... late night but worth it. \240First time seeing a sunset since being here!

Last day in London!

Beautiful Sunday walk this morning - still caught up in the beauty of the streets, houses and the oozing charm every which way you look.

Home for breakfast and a workout. \240Then Kylie picked Jay and the boys up to head to theirs to watch the State of Origin and I headed off SOLO to Portobello Rd and Notting Hill. \240I strolled blissfully down the entire length of Portobello Rd - browsing peacefully in shops, taking photos and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere ... it was buzzing and so was I. \240I was ready for time alone and this was such a luxurious treat.

I relunctantly came to the end of the road and made my way to Kylie and Dave’s to join everyone else for BBQ. \240It was another fun filled night - the kids have such a great time together and Kylie really goes to town with her hosting.

Denise and G joined us - who are moving to NZ next year

It was Dave’s brother Mikey’s Bday who was visiting from Texas

It’s Campervan Day 🚌

I got in a walk and a workout not knowing when the next time would be.

We had breakfast and packed up. \240I took the boys for one last Mini Golf session and to let Jay get some work done in peace.

After an early lunch Brad dropped us out to our Campervan “Indi”!

We got ourselves sorted and headed off! \240Jay did so well navigating it all and takes it all in his stride. \240The boys were so excited and happily sat in the bag chatting (and fighting and whinging) as we took the 2 hour drive to Meadowbank Holiday Park in Christchurch just out of Bournemouth.

We arrived early evening, parked up and took a 20 min walk through a field (so many fields around here) to a local pub for dinner. \240Harvey was tired and a little loose but we made our way through and even walked home in one piece when we realised that Ubers aren’t as frequent in these parts ... def not in London anymore 😂

🙏 We are doing it! \240We are in a Campervan and doing it ... so proud of us 🙏🙏❤️❤️

Our official first day in the camper ... after some scrambled eggs we left Meadowbank Hokiday Park and headed to the town of Lyndhurst where we rented bikes and headed off to explore the New Forest. \240Both boys were less then keen but it was so soon clear that we were fighting an up hill battle with Harvey. \240We persisted and committed to a short loop but I’m the end Noah and Jay headed back to the shop ahead of us and rented a bike with a kids seat attached and came back to collect a very tired and emotional Harvey!

We drove through Bournemouth with the intention of stopping but realised one of the downsides to a camper isn’t here UK towns is parking doesn’t come easy. \240We settled for a quick shop and lunch stop at an M&S ... driving in the wrong way and causing a little congestion and stress from Noah and me however Jay cool as a cucumber manouvered is out of everyone’s way.

From there we headed in search of a dinosaur fossil on the Jurassic Coast ... however it ended up on a wild goose chase with tired boys and challenging times in the camper ... the narrow roads on top of it all almost took us over the edge but luckily a broken side mirror from some innocent locals car was the extent of the damage and once again Jay remained calm and not bothered.

We gave up on the fossil - we did find a cute little pub with \240a fossil mueseum but energies were low at that point and so we didn’t stop for a cuppa or a pint ... it was straight on to the next campsite -Corfe Castle. \240A gorgeous quaint little campsite out of the village.

Mueseum at Worth Matraves

A much needed cup of tea after a long day!

Jays office

We had a home cooked meal - thank is to prepackaged heaven at M&S ... it amazes me - I don’t think anyone chops Veges in this country - everything chopped and pre packaged - convenient sure, but holy heck the waste and plastic 🤯😢

🙏 Grateful for Jays unwavering ability to not sweat the small stuff

🦋 Reminder to keep on laughing and that there is always tea around the corner (or wine!)

I got up early and headed off for a \240morning walk. \240 In order to maintain my exercise I’m going to have to be creative and for my walks I get an adventure each morning. \240This morning I headed to the village of Corfe Castle ... through a gate off the campsite and into a field - I was slightly apprehensive being 6:30am and not a soul in sight. \240It turned out to be a magical walk down the hill and along a stream to the village.

Back in the camper we had breakfast and head off to Haldon Forest. \240We stopped on the way in Honiton and had a yummy morning tea - our first Cornish Cream Tea.

When we got to Haldon Forest Noah and I headed off on the Gruffalo course to spot some of our favourite Julia Donaldsons characters. \240The course was set up beautifully with a map but somehow I got us lost and we ended up taking an extra long walk compete with a rain shower. \240Jay and Harvey waited patiently at the end and I explained to Noah that “sometimes getting lost is the real adventure in life”. \240We had a quick lunch at the cafe and I wished we had longer time explore the bike trails and soak up the amazing forest.

We \240then headed to our next campground for the night Ten Creek just outside of a gorgeous fishing town called Looe.

We arrived in time for a swim in the indoor pool before cooked sausages and showers.

Woke up early and ventured off for a walk down the field to cliffs. \240Beautiful view of the coastline.

Back to the van and we got packed up and headed to Liskeard for Jay to have an appt with a customer. \240The boys and I found a cute little cafe for breakfast. \240The staff were so friendly and we had a beautiful breakfast - the boys were definitely on form smoozing the staff ❤️. I found a local paper with a bunch of articles relating to the pandemic that were up our alley which started a move chat with the waitress discovering that we were on the same page ... was refreshing. \240The whole cafe experience was so lovely and Jay joined us at the end too.

We left Liskeard and headed to The Lost Garden of Heligan. \240An amazing garden and property compete with a farm, multiple gorgeous gardens, forest walk, adventure playground and delicious cafe with wholesome food all garden to table. \240The kids had a great time exploring.

From there it was off to our next camp ground Pentewan Sands. \240Right on the beach and complete with an indoor pool and slide. \240We hit that first and I was able to get some laps on which was an added bonus. \240For dinner we ventured across a little footbridge into the village and ate at the pub. \240A beautiful pub meal right on the canal. \240A gorgeous spot.

Back to camper and tired boys to bed! \240We stayed up watched beautiful sunset and did some planning for our trip.

Had my first beach walk this morning since being here. \240Was hoping to walk up the cliff tips but the footbridge was closed and I didn’t have time to go all the way around.

Jay had another appt with a customer so we packed up and headed to St Austell. \240The village wasn’t as quaint as some of the others and we are finding that nothing opens before 9am. \240We still found ourselves a cafe and had breakfast whilst Jay was in the meeting. \240The boys chose some new sticker books and that \240kept them busy.

Once Jay was finished and had eaten off we headed to Marazion to visit the Castle at St Michael’s Mount.

On arrival we had a quick lunch in the van then headed off. \240What an amazing castle to visit - depending on the tide will dictate how you enter the castle along the causeway. \240The tide was out so we walked over. \240The Castle grounds had a beautiful garden to explore on the cliffs edge that was beautifully maintained. \240It was a steep climb up to the Castle itself and the kids were given a scavenger hunt on arrival to complete during the tour. \240This kept them engaged and happy throughout the tour which Kay and I both were so grateful for. \240They then received little tags for their completed work ... it’s the little touches that go along way.

Walking back we almost missed the tide and ended up having to take our shoes off to avoid needing to get a boat back. \240This only added to the overall adventure. \240First Castle and it was a great success.

We drove up to our campsite - the smallest so far. \240Almost felt like someone’s front lawn. \240It was everything we needed but def no added extras which we had been accustomed to.

We found another Monty

Penzance

We caught an Uber intoPenzance and had a pub meal at a pub right on the harbour. \240It was bustling and a ferry arrived just as we were leaving which made the Uber line long for our return.

❤️ Castle - history you can quite comprehend

🙏 kids activities along the way

Up early and with not around headed off with the intention of finding some breakfast at Lands End - however a wrong turn took us to a car park with a beautiful view...

Then we noticed a path and thought may as well check out the beach down below. \240

It lead to a beautiful cove ... Sennen Beach. \240We played on the rocks, considered the water for a potential swim later and then found a little cafe that was heaving (mainly because it was the only one) but beautiful happy staff and the usual English breakfast with a bit of a twist. \240

The sun found its way out and it warmed up. \240With full tummy’s and satisfied with our find we set off back up the hill and back in the van destined for Lands End.

Quite a run down tourist “attraction” was Lands End - eerie in a way. \240Still - it had to be done to say we went down the very bottom of the UK. \240So photos ticked off we headed north to St Ives.

St Ives is like other costal towns that don’t allow tourist traffic to park in town. \240So we parked up top and caught a bus in. \240It was a visual delight coming down into the beautiful village with clear torquiouse water and sandy beaches. \240I didn’t expect it and Noah exclaimed “this is what I’m talking about”!

We enjoyed a walk around the old village and along the water front and found a great place for lunch right in front of an arcade. \240The boys were in dopamine heaven as they burned through £2 each. \240Harvey found it hard to leave (ie meltdown)! \240

We were keen to get back in the van and move on to our next stop so we pushed on and headed for Holywell Bay.

Arriving at Trevornick Caravan Park we were overwhelmed with the facilities and all on offer. \240We instantly felt good about the fact that this was going to be home for 3 days. \240We were all looking forward to settling in to one place and having some quiet days.

We arrived in time for a quick swim, I got a load of laundry done and then we enjoyed an yummy Mexican dinner and cocktail from the food trucks on site! \240

My morning walk was an adventure today. \240It was drizzly and windy and it suited the mood for the massive dunes and hills leading to th beach. \240

I found my way to the beach and back up th road past the village. \240Found a cute pub for lunch.

Back at the camper we had breakfast and then headed off to explore th campground. \240It has a cute little Forest Trail with adventure playground that the kids zoomed through.

Despite the kids wanting to just fish fish fish we convinced them that a walk down to the village first for lunch was the way to go.

This is th “best Sunday roast” in Cornwall - according to the sign! \240However it was fully booked and they squeezed us in. \240It was huge and not a green in sight - not sure I can give it the best - but certainly an experience.

Right ... now we fish! \240The boys were blessed with Jeff and the lovely Judy who spoilt them with tips and plenty of patience. \240Judy showed them how to load the hook with maggots (live, wriggling maggots 🤮) and guided them through the process reminding them that patience is part of it! \240

The sun came out and it was dreamy sitting by the lake which was a 100m from our camper. \240

And of course they caught fish - multiple fish - so it was a huge success and the end of a very long dry spell and many attempts in Pauanui and on the Coast. \240So to very very happy boys. \240

Noah got a very impressive (according to Judy) perch.

Continuing with our mission to stay local and keenthe day simple - we had dinner at the restaurant on site. \240Average food but the boys were able to play mini putt whilst we sat and soaked up the stunning view.

Back to van via the pond! \240Such a beautiful day and the first where we didn’t drive anywhere ... Jay appreciated a break! \240

🙏 These campsites continue to amaze me with their facilities

🙏 morning walks

🙏 Judy for her patience and for making the boys day

Same walk for me this morning but without the rain and even glimpses of sun. \240

After breakfast we convinced the kids to head into Newquay to check out the potentials of a surf. \240We parked up on the hill and were met with a very cold wind which lowered the excitement for a surf. \240

Fistral Beach - a very popular surf beach. \240Jay checked it out to rent boards but it was cold and I inviting - plus the boys were whinging about going back to do some more fishing!!! \240We put a maybe one the plan and decided some morning tea might warm us all up (and our moods).

We found this cute little tea room (thanks Google) that served gluten free scones and had our first Cornish Tea ... oh my the clotted cream 🙌🥰

When we came out of the tea room the sun had come out and so it was jumpers off and surfing was back on the cards. \240We had an over tired boy to sea with so decided to go for a drive to allow him to sleep and then after some lunch at a lookout we headed back to Fistral beach only to find the surf wasn’t as good as it was in the morning so the boys won - we headed back to camp to FISH again!!!

Newquay harbour

I managed my first workout since being away - I did it in the van using my weights. \240Felt so good! \240Then it was steak night - complete with garlic butter - the prepackaged meals are doing me well in Campervan life - so much so I can almost look past the disgusting overuse of packaging! \240

First glimpses of a sunset since being in the UK!

🙏 gluten free scones!

🙏 sun

🙏 workouts back! \240

The sun was out amd skies clear(ish) for the first morning since we had been here. \240I didn’t have time to do a big walk but I had to see the view so went to top of sand dunes. \240I then did some yoga out side of the van. \240I have been too self conscious to do workouts in the morning outside of the van but after doing a workout last night and feeling so good for it I think I’m just going to have to get over it!

It was our last morning in Trevornick so we packed up and waved goodbyes and headed to “work” for Jay. \240The craft shop was out of the town Truroin a village called Perranarworthal and was in a little collection of buildings including a cafe - so the boys and I headed for breakfast. \240Both boys on the touchy side this morning and me in reactive mode is not the best combination! \240I managed to get Noah to do some journal work over their French toast which they forgot to dip in egg so was fried toast with maple syrup 🙄. Harvey had a meltdown at the end and I let him lead me into the cafes shop filled with arts and crafts and he happily (and painfully for me) examined everything!!!

Back on the toad and next stop Padstow. \240Jay had read about a place to hire bikes and a good flat ride that we could do so I was excited (the boys not so much!). As we were driving and looking at the map we decided to rework the next couple of days. \240We were meant to go on to Bude tonight but felt that would be too rushed and Padstow seemed to have a bit to offer. \240We pulled into a campsite at the top of the hill outside of the village and managed to get a night. \240So with this in mind we settled into the afternoon without the feeling of rush rush. \240

We had a delicious takeaway Fish and Chips from Rick Steins down at the port. \240He has a monopoly here by the looks.

This lovely guy at Rick Steins Fishmongers was so kind to Harvey and got him a live lobster and crab from the tank for the boys to explore up close. \240I’m true Harvey style he wanted to hold them both - no fear - whereas Noah was apprehensive. \240Harvey then wanted to stay and touch all the fish in the cabinet and see more lobsters ... minor Mel to down on the way out! \240

After lunch we hired bikes to do the Camle Trail. \240It is an 18 mile trail that goes from Padstow to Bodmin. \240We rode from Padstow to Wadebridge which was about 5 mile return. \240We took no chances with Harvey this time after our experience at New Forest and both kids are still resisting biking for some reason. \240Anyway there was no resistance or whinging today as Harvey was happy as Larry on \240the back with Jay and Noah tends to step up and ride happily despite saying he doesn’t like it. \240

It was a wonderful ride and mostly flat. \240Loads of people on the path too. \240We got to Wadebridge and had a little look around but had already decided afternoon tea was coming from a little food truck on the side of the path half way along. \240

This cute little “food truck” and an impressive menu and even offered dinners some nights. \240The staff were so friendly and the boys loved the iceblock to fill up the mercy tank and my tea and brownie were certainly made with love. \240

It’s all about the dogs here in the UK! \240❤️🥰❤️

Back to Padstow and we made our way to our campsite via tesco to stock up on supplies. \240As we settled into our site we were so grateful we decided to stay. \240Another beautiful campsite with gorgeous facilities and the best staff so far - so genuine and friendly.

Cheers to another great day ❤️

🙏 Bike rides (especially when we are moving and without whinging)!!!

🌈 Follow your gut and be happy to change plans

❤️ Continue to be overwhelmed by the beautiful people we are meeting

Up early and I managed a lovely quiet cup of tea in the sunshine, a catch up on my emails and a workout before the gang woke up!

We had a breakfast and then up to the shop to say goodbye to the amazing staff here. \240I just love meeting such genuine people who love their jobs. \240These ladies were so sweet to the boys - spoiling them with free crab nets for the big morning ahead of crabbing in Padstow! \240

“Aunty Sam, Lauren and Jeanie”

We parked and headed into town. \240Most villages we find you park and then walk in. \240We didn’t come to this part of Padstow yesterday so coming down into the village and harbour we were delighted with such a gorgeous little village. \240

We got our bacon and settled in to find the best crabbing position. \240Lucky, like our fishing experience we had success and the boys were delighted woth the haul. \240Harvey again more happy to hold and inspect the crab up close ... Noah warmed up to it eventually after a thorough risk \240assessment! \240

Not sure! \240

After a quick look around - definitely could soak up a whole day in these villages and I found it hard to leave with so much exploring yet to be done ... but just not the time with kids in tow! \240

Next stop was Bude. \240Google took as the scenic way down the narrowest of all roads only to have to turn around due to another RV that had broken down in the middle of the road! \240

When we finally got to abide we were hungry and ready for some outside time! \240We took awhile to find the a place to eat but found a perfect place right on the beach and the kids got to run around on the sand.

After lunch the boys insisted on a swim at the sea pool so I hiked back to the van and got all the swim gear only for them to put them on and barely get their feet wet ... don’t blame them it was chilly as amd Kay and I despite them begging us, we’re not going to join them!

Gorgeous sea pool though that on a nice day without wind would be pretty amazing place to have a dip.

After their “swim” we headed back in the van and up the hill out of town to our next campsite ... Wooda Farm. \240Another amazing campsite with exceptional facilities. \240Playground, forest trails, farm animals and “Pixi hunt” ... oh and a gym which I’m excited about. \240We went for a walk to explore and then the kids had a play on the playgroundnd before dnner in the van. \240

I had a little sleep in this morning so both boys were up when I was ready for my walk so they joined me. \240We walked down to the fishing ponds at the bottom of the property.

Back for breakfast and then we packed some snacks because Jay was heading into Bude with the van to see a customer and the boys and I wanted to do the Nature Trail and the Pixi hunt here at the campsite.

Once again blown away by what these camp grounds have on offer. \240The kids had little passports to complete the different nature questions and along the way we had to count how many pixie’s we found.

We completed our trail and had a cupcake and tea/baby chino as our reward and then headed up to reception to stamp the passports. \240We found 117 little pixies along the way but apparently there are 200 so we missed a few. \240

By the time we were done - Jay had returned from seeing his customer and also getting a surf in which was great seeing that was yet to happen. \240

Harvey was ready for a nap so we headed off in the van for a drive to a nearby beach and parked up in the car park. \240There we found a food truck that we decided to try for lunch and were not disappointed. \240Delicious steak Mexican salad bowl and Noah’s “best burger” so far! \240We are impressed with the food trucks and learning that often that’s the best food! \240

After lunch it was time to find a new crabbing spot for the boys. \240We headed back into Bude and explored around the castle - the nicer and more quaint part of town. \240Unfortunately the lock means the canal is fresh water and no crabs to be found and the tide was low meaning they couldn’t crab off the stairs on the sea wall. \240

We are learning to move through disappointments - sometimes more gracefully then others. \240We settled on a paddle boa ride up the canal. \240

After afternoon tea Noah insisted we check out a bait and tackle shop that also ended up selling guns. \240He had a nice chat with the owner about hunting and crabbing. \240He gifted the boys some bait and told us of a town north of Bude we should stop by tomorrow for some more successful crabbing. \240The boys felt happy to have some hope for tomorrow (and Jay and I relieved too!)

We headed back to the campsite and I went to the gym - it wasn’t the most amazing experience but it felt great to be able to do a workout with all the weights and a private space.

❤️ Nature trail time with the boys

🙏 Friendly and generous locals with tips

🙏 workouts! \240

Today was one of those days where around every corner I seemed to say “oh my god, that’s beautiful”!

The sun was out and it was warm from the get go and I headed off for my morning walk. \240I went to do the nature trail that I did yesterday with the boys but half way I got the “not sure vibe” and so turned around and walked back through the campsite and along the main road for a bit. \240One of the downers is that no one is up early around here and so my walks feel quite isolating and when I don’t know the area I just choose not to take any unnecessary risks.

Regardless the walk did the trick - stretched my legs and cleared the cobwebs and then it was back for a cuppa and kids had some cereal and we headed off.

First stop - Clovelly Village. \240OMG. \240Only way to enter is walking a steep cobbled stone path. \240The houses are nestled together on top of the cliff and right up against the path. Quaint and quirky. \240The path leads you down to the harbour where there is a pub overlooking the line of fishing boats.

The reason we found our way is because of the generous Rob at the tackle and gun shop in Bude. \240He told us this is where the boys could crab and so with bait and nets ready to go we set up along the sea wall. \240The drop was immense though and after 20 min of me holding my heart in my throat and allowing my own anxieties to spill over everyone else’s mood we moved to some stairs. \240There I was able to calm and let the boys do their thing in peace. \240Crabs and fish were hail along with some tears and tantrums - both boys seemed particularly sensitive this morning.

After a decent crabbing session we made our way back up the hill I point at the tea room for a delicious quiche and a Devon Tea with the most amazing view. \240I finally clarified the difference between a Devon Tea and a Cornish Tea ... cream first for the Devon and Jam first for the Cornish. \240I’m Devon by heart!

With tummy’s full and soaking up some decent warmth we finished the climb \240back to the very top and back in the van for Harvey to pass out instantly.

Next stop was Woolacombe. We arrived at our next campsite (more like resort) and had some lunch in the van then headed to check out the facilities. \240Pool, outdoor slide, indoor pool, indoor slide, arcade, playground, mini golf ... you name it. \240We ticked off the must do’s and then we packed some drinks and headed to the beach. \240Another gorgeous walk through a little forest and field and down to the most beautiful beach and stunning sun. \240We were recommended to go to a little cove that a food truck sells Sri Lankan curry and wow what a piece of paradise ... the food was amazing and the scenery just stunning. \240Felt like something in Europe. \240After a few G&T’s and a delicious prawn salad we did the hike home.

Lots of hiking today, lots of WOW moments and very grateful for it all.

🙏 Sun ☀️

🙏 Stunning sights

❤️ Jay’s ability to plan and map things out - he has a wonderful way of seeing what will work best in our day and as I get myself out of the way and trust I see this more than ever

❤️ Harvey loving the pool

After a rough night last sleep wise we were up early to pack up camper and get it ready for drop off. \240One last pic of us with the camper and then it was back off to London.

So extremely grateful for the past two weeks and all the adventures we had in this camper 🙏❤️🚌

We arrived to a sweltering day in London and had a cruisey afternoon at Brads doing washing and repacking for the next adventure. \240

We met Bruce, Tessa and Flynn at the pub (and Guinness of course) for dinner and a drink. \240Tessa and I stayed in whilst all the boys went home. \240It was lovely to have a chat with her one on one. \240

A little more packing when we got home and then off to bed. \240

The boys were eager to get up and meet Guinness for a walk this morning and I enjoyed my walk back in a familiar place. \240

Hello and Goodbyes to Guinness and then back home for breakfast and pack up. \240We got an Uber to the train station - Harvey was irritable and tired 😓

We got on the train and realised we didn’t have a seat for Harvey and the train was absolutely packed. Jay went off and found a spare seat somewhere else and the boys and I piled in. \240My mission was to get my overtired boy to sleep. \240

After stopping for over 40 min due to a signal error down the track finally he fell asleep not far out of Newcastle. \240Aaah relief for all!!!

Darren picked us up for Newcastle and took us to South Shields. \240First stop to check out Nutex UK headquarters and meet his dog Xander. \240

After settling in at Darren and Kayes we went out for one of the famous curries in town and then went for a lovely walk Wong their beach . I didn’t expect such a pretty coastline. \240

Of course Harvey found a crab (even though it was dead) and was determined to keep it! \240

Off home and into bed after a big travel day. \240

Up early and I enjoyed a quiet cuppa before heading off for a walk. \240I found some pretty streets and weaved my way down to the beach where we were last night.

After breakfast we headed off to pick up the rental car and then we dropped Jay off at Nutex for the day.

The boys needed a hair cut so we went off to see Darren’s hairdresser. \240Lovely guy who had plenty of toys in the waiting area - the boys could have stayed there all day. \240

Noah was very keen on getting a mullet but I managed to the barber to make other suggestions. \240They still came away with the most shortest do’s they have ever had - Noah loves it! \240

After haircuts we headed to a shopping centre to look for some shoes and jackets. \240It was a bit of a disaster in the fact that Harvey was so tired and didn’t sleep on the way. \240The mall was massive and as I should know shopping with the boys is painful!

We ended up getting a little car/trolley for Harvey and that helped but we still came away with only having lunch and picking up some sticker books. \240Felt frustrated and really wiped out after it all and my phone battery dying on the way back made for an interesting adventure finding Darren and Kaye’s again!

We made it and enjoyed soaking up some sun in the backyard and a lovely dinner. \240The boys went for a walk at the beach after dinner and I called Inga and Barand to make a plan about staying in their house whilst we are in Amsterdam. \240

🌈Reminder - shopping centres are energy suckers! \240

Up early and ready to start day off right after yesterday. \240Had a beautiful walk through the cemetery. \240Seeing so many familiar surnames is that reminder that we all stem from UK and Europe - we are all connected. \240

We packed up and headed off bound for the Lake District. \240We stopped for breakfast at an awesome farm shop which had camels, cows and little farm tractors for kids to drive. \240The food selection was amazing also and I stocked up for our days ahead. \240

Back on the road destined for Lake Windermere. \240Stu and Darren met us at the “caravan” to show us how it all works. \240What they call a caravan we call a tiny home - we are delighted to see what we have been gifted to stay in for the next week. \240Not to mention it’s a 4 min walk to the lake edge and fully stocked with kayak and SUP! \240

Once settled we headed to a pub for lunch I n land a little bit that had a gorgeous garden area. \240

After a delicious lunch it was back to the caravan and the boys were keen to check out the kayaks so we headed down to the lake.

We had a beautiful afternoon playing in the water - I didn’t swim though - it was chilly and hadn’t worked my way up to that yet! \240

We had dinner in the caravan and I tried hard to figure out a weird smell that is present - we can’t tell if it’s mould or something that’s gone off? \240 Essential oil collection is coming in handy because it is quite strong. \240

🙏 Generousity from Stu to gift us this place

🌈 Once again it has exceeded my expectations. \240The lake is stunning and I’m looking forward to exploring the surrounding areas. \240

❤️ Lakes have a certain feeling for me - it moves me quite emotionally actually. \240

My walk this morning took me across the road and up the hill to a campground - I found a path that lead back down to the road and back to the campground. \240

After breakfast we headed off to explore Brockhole which consists of a high ropes playground, mini golf, go karts, archery and shooting. \240Unfortunately many of the activities were not in the boys age groups.

We still had a lovely explore, the boys played mini putt and Noah went on the go karts.

From there we decided to head further north to another lake and it’s town Keswick. We past through gorgeous Ambleside and Grasmere which in hindsight is where we should have stopped for lunch. \240

Keswick was fine but not quite the charm. \240We had a walk around and got lunch and then headed back. \240

The kids had a fun afternoon playing a swinging on the swing. \240I got a workout in and cooked dinner. \240It’s nice to have so much space to ourselves. \240

We woke to a wet morning. \240I did a workout instead of a walk and after breakfast we headed to the west side of the lake to explore the Grizedale park.

Like so many of the Forestry of England sites I’m continue to be most impressed with the activities that they have for the kids. \240We got our Superworm Trail pack with map, checklist, superhero mask! \240

We did a small 2km loop and the kids had a great time checking off their list and answer the questions along the way.

There was this gorgeous art exhibit where they had keys in tree that you turned and music would start playing. \240There was also hidden keys in trees to spot. \240

Despite the drizzle it was still a lovely walk.

From there we looked around the top end of the lake and stopped in Ambleside for lunch. \240We did some jacket and shoe shopping to complete yesterday’s efforts. \240

Then it was on to the Beatrix Potter mueseum. \240It was so so as far as the experience. \240Jay I think was into more than any of us! \240

Afternoon and a walk down by the lake where the sun came out and it was gorgeous. \240The boys found some friends to play with which kept a very grumpy Harvey at bay for a little bit.

Back to the caravan - dinner and bed!

Possibly one of my favourite mornings was today. \240I woke really early at 5:30am and lovely tea and watching the light dance through the trees. \240

I headed for a walk up the same road as the other day but determined to get high enough up to see lake views. \240I followed my nose and and the trusty “public footpath” sign and after a nice climb I was rewarded with stunning views. \240I’m definitely more adventurous then I used to be and my morning walks continue to be my daily dose of this. \240

Back home for breakfast and to the boys in their favourite place - the swing. \240We let Noah lead the day today and is request is kayak, stay home and kayak some more! \240

Before heading off we got a load of washing done and made use of the sunshine in the garden area to avoid the dryer which we have had to use more than we like.

Then it we marched off to the lake!

We kayaked around the to the cafe which is a part of the campsite and enjoyed morning tea of scones and tea. \240The boys fed the ducks and played with the SUP and kayak.

We then headed back and had our first swim in the lake. \240Refreshing and not quite as cold as Cornwall! \240

Back to the caravan and we Noah chose to have lunch at home and rather than driving to get ice cream in a cone he chose an iceblock from the shop on sight. \240Whilst the boys did that I put my feet up and read for the first time in ages and felt like I truly had a moment of relaxation. \240

In the arvo we headed back down to the lake. \240We started chatting to another couple and their kids were playing with ours. \240Lovely and very friendly - they have a Campervan here and love just an hour south. \240Noah was stoked to play with another boy his age - Arthur. \240He said to me “Mum now I know I can find a friend anywhere” ❤️

As we headed back home they invited us out on their boat tomorrow for a little tour around ... Jay really hit it off with Danny - golf and rugby talk and Carrie was so easy to talk to - very bubbly. \240So lovely to meet people and hit it off ... that is what it’s all about. \240

Th last thing on Noah’s list was dinner from the food truck at the campsite over the road. \240Unfortunately for the first time the food truck let us down with bland and boring noodles and standard chicken n chips for the kids.

The setting was nice and we got talking to a beautiful couple (once again because Harvey lattes their dogs)! \240

Home for one last swing and one very happy and satisfied boy! 🥰

❤️ Morning walk and finding new places

❤️ Watching Noah take lead and love that he planned a day that slowed us all down

❤️ No driving today

🙏 New friendships and creating memories

🙏 Sun and swims in the lake

This morning I managed a workout in before we packed up to meet our new friends Carrie, Danny, Arthur, Evie and Georgia. \240

We thought we were just going to go for a quick boat \240ride and maybe stop for an once cream but instead we were spoilt with a full day of adventures. \240

We headed to the top end of the lake to eat lunch at a pub at Ambleside. \240The kids played on the lakes edge and we had a few drinks in the sun. \240Loved chatting and realising how much we have in common and continued to feel so grateful for all they were doing for us. \240

Back in the bit and we headed to park up and have a play at a playground and a swim off the boat. \240The day was warming up and I was wishing I had my togs.

Back in the boat and we crossed to the opposite side of the lake for ice cream and ice coffee.

Heading back home and Harvey had a little sleep after a big day.

Once back at the campsite we all grabbed togs, kayaks and SUPs and had a play in the water before realising that dinner and packing needed to be done and as much fun as we will all having it was time to say goodbye and go our seperate ways. \240

It was such a magical day and we feel blessed to have met them. \240Judging by Jay and Danny’s chat about future golf games we may see them again still! \240

❤️ New friends

🙏 Generousity

💧 Boat days on the lake

Despite being well prepared and packed up we had a frazzling departure of the lake with Harvey and I tangled in push pull struggle. \240Always ends me frustrated and creating tension for all to swallow 😬😩

We finally got on the road and had a quick out stop at the same Farm Store we stopped at on the way over. \240

Luckily we had a smooth run and got back to Nutex to do a repack and then back in the car to the train station. \240We grabbed some salads and samdwiches and thankfully an ice coffee for me just in time and then Jay threw the boys and I on the train bound for Edinburgh! \240

We arrived to a sweltering day for Edinburgh and a very busy Waverley train station. \240Our luggage proving a challenge and especially when Harvey needed/wanted to be carried as well. \240We finally made our way out of the station after 30 min and then waited for 15 min for a cab. \240Finally we got dropped off at \240the Air BNB and then realised we were at the wrong house so dragged all the luggage and two tired boys and one period pain filled Mumma around the corner to finally find the right place 😩🙌.

What followed was an hour and half attempt to grab a cab back up to town to meet Shayne and get a well deserved ice cream \240but instead ended up waiting endlessly for a cab that didn’t come and then roaming the streets for ice cream on a cone to finally settle for store bought and meeting Shayne at the local pub (poor Shayne who wasn’t feeling the best ping ponged around us while we finally figured out where she should come to us opposed to us coming to her). \240

What are the chances that the air BnB we rented is right around the corner from the Scotland Chiropratic College ... and right next to the pub we met Shayne at. \240Can’t help but feel like D Russ is looking down on us 😍😍😍

Aaah the whole day worth it now 🥰🥰🥰

After a breath of fresh air seeing Shayne we set our for an easy dinner but were met with challenge after challenge and long story short ended up with free takeaway pizza. \240

What a crazy jumbled day where nothing seemed to flow but somehow we got through and so so happy to be in Edinburgh with Shayne!

Here is to a more connected day tomorrow 🙏❤️

Up early and ready for a new day! \240Soaking up the morning sun and a cup of tea in this gorgeous flat and pinching myself I’m back in Edinburgh.

Shayne held down the fort and I popped out for a walk in my old hood - finding my way - some parts familiar and others vague. \240I found Lisa’s old flat on Royal Crescent ❤️

After my walk we enjoyed a slow breakfast and then got ourselves ready to head out to venture. \240No real plan but an intention for it to be smooth! \240

At the bus stop to town a tourist Hop on Hop Off arrived and we decided perfect way to see the sights with the kids in tow. \240

Well timed as Harvey was starting to yawn and wouldn’t have made it far on foot. \240So he cuddled up for a sleep whilst Noah listened to the history overview of Edinburgh and Shayne and I chatted away ❤️

We got off at Grassmarjet after Harvey had napped and headed to find some lunch. \240Found our way to Japanese followed by award winning ice cream. \240

We wandered with our ice cream around the Royal Mike and down the Miund into the Gardens for a rest. \240

The boys had sheer delight jumping on the trampoline and a hard time accepting we wouldn’t have another one! \240It was hot again and energy was running low. \240We wanted to get back on the bus to head back down towards the water in the hope of a swim or at least some yummy fish and chips.

We found our way after a bit of a mission and then ticked into some yummy dinner before heading back to our flat - the Hop on Hop off bus dropped us right around the corner from our place 🙏🙌

Beautiful and fun day that was filed with flow and fairies around every corner. \240

Thank you Edinburgh

❤️🙏🙌

Beautiful Shayne took the boys for smoothies first up and I headed out to conquer Arthur’s Seat - something I never did in my time in Edinburgh. \240It was well worth it and I loved the adventure -until I was desperate for a toilet and with none in sight had to make a mad rush down with moments that I didn’t think I would make it!

I landed in a toilet just in time and came out to see that I was right near my old flat in Newington.

Took a bit of remembering to think of the name of the street but I knew where it was ... so many memories here - mostly hazy!

Headed back to meet the boys and found little Harvey to be feeling very low and ready to nap. \240He was complaining of a sore tummy so I was half expecting some vomiting to follow but instead he just fevered through his torso and lay on the couch in and out of sleep.

We surrendered the days plans and just hung which Noah seemed to settle into happily. \240He played Lego and talked all things Star Wars to Shayne. \240Shayne slept and pottered, snuggled with Harvey and caught up on a few journal and admin.

Harvey came back to life in the late afternoon and we had a nibbles picnic in the garden which was lovely.

For dinner we had missed our reservation for the local pub and so we thought we would grab something light over at the food market behind where the College is.

It was short and sweet as Harvey was hitting the wall again and Shayne and I weren’t overly hungry.

Home to bed and hoping little man is better tomorrow. \240

🙏 Space to do some testing and healing

🌈 Reminder for me to be ok with doing nothing!!

Wel we had an interesting night - poor Shayne was not well and vomiting. \240Harvey sleet through but still a bit hazy this morning so we have surrendered plans again and gorgeous Ali is coming to meet us close the the Air BNB and we have extended our checkout so we don’t have to leave until Jay gets here. \240Al about making it easy for healing bodies.

Al packed and showered and all a bit perkier than first up this morning we headed to a cafe around the corner with Ali and baby Patrick ❤️

After goodbyes and sending Shayne to sit in a movie theatre for the day to wait for her 9pm flight we headed to pick up our Campervan and start the next leg of our Scottish adventure. \240

After a long handover we finally in the van headed north to St Andrews.

Getting used to a new layout - somethings better somethings not as great as our Go Indi. \240But overall happy and kids excited to be in van again. \240

We popped in to see how Jays chances were going to get on for a round tomorrow but he is left with the almighty mission of getting up at 1am and going to join the que.

We got settled at our campsite and had dinner then realised that we were only given one round of bedding so I walked into town (which I was more than happy to do because kids were grumpy and irritated so an evening solo walk was heaven). \240I picked up a sleeping bag and some other \240campvan essentials. \240When I got back Brad had arrived so we all piled into bed and they prepared for their short sleep and long wait ahead!

🙏 to be back altogether again

❤️ Campervan time

No walk for me this morning as Jay and Brad still waiting in the line. \240We decided that I would drive up to Lisa’s with the boys and Jay and Brad will come up tonight after they (fingercrossed) played their round on golf on the old course. \240

The thought of driving the Campervan solo definitely was scary for me today and I think I spent most of the morning gearing myself up to it! \240We didn’t end up going to explore St Andrews - we just had a slow breakfast, play at the playground and then headed off at 11am.

The boys knew I was nervous and as we drove off said “you’ve got this Mum” 😍

It was focus and intense concentration but when we pulled over half way for a break I was grateful for the lack of narrow roads so far! \240

Noah said when we stopped “you’re doing great Mum, you haven’t run into a car once”! \240

With my cheersquad egging me on we hit the road again to Lisa’s house. \240As the roads narrowed Noah said “keep looking straight ahead Mum”.

When made it all in one piece and it was screams and tears to see Lisa again. \240We settled in and met her gorgeous kids Issac (14) and Naomi (9). \240The kids were in heaven - other children, toys, dogs, horses, pool and hot tub!!!

We heard the good news from Jay that he had Brad had secured a round on the Old Course. \240Their waiting since 1am paid off and at 3:40pm they tee’d off having not slept. \240Still bucket list item made it all worth it and Jay was so happy it happened.

In the course of the afternoon the did a bit of everything and Lisa and I got to chat chat chat over tea. \240We went to a local pub for dinner with her partner Gary and the kids and then tucked ourselves into the Campervan for the night.

Noah said as we were going to sleep “I’m proud of you Mum, I know you were scared. \240You should drive again now you know you can”

😍 Noah’s supportive and encouraging ways

🙌 Jay getting to play the Old Course at St Andrews - so happy for him that all the waiting paid off and that he had a chance to do all that with Brad. \240

❤️ Seeing Lisa again and meeting her gorgeous family. \240She hasn’t changed, talks 100 miles per hour, \240is so generous and knows exactly what you want without you having to ask!

💪 Driving the van! \240

Another morning of no walk with Jay not around. \240I actually slept in with the boys and Lisa brought a cup of tea out around 7:30am. \240Noah said “Mum, how did she know you wanted a tea”. “Because she is Lisa” to which Noah replied “she is like Santa”! \240

The boys were keen to hit the hot tub to start the day followed by some breakfast and then we headed off to meet Vicky and her son Jack at the beach to go see the seals. \240

We had a lovely time hanging out at the beach and the kids played in the dunes (Harvey did a poo in the dunes) and we all continued to chat and catch up. \240There was seals in the water which the kids found exciting to see. \240

Jay and Brad drove up from St Andrews and heading straight to play the Trump course. \240

Back at Lisa’s we had some lunch then the boys all snuggled up in bed with Issac and the dogs (Betsy and Perry). \240Lisa and I had a wonderful uninterrupted catch up. \240She has been through a lot in the years and is such an inspiring and strong woman ❤️

The weather had cooled down but it didn’t stop the kids getting in the pool (or was heated but still). \240Lisa and I sipped on tea on the sidelines! \240

We walked across to Naomi’s school and the kids played soccer and Harvey flew a kite. \240

We headed out for dinner and Brad and Jay met us at the pub when they were finished. \240Another impressive golf course to add to the list. \240

Back at Lisa’s we had a little fire and the kids toasted marshmallows ❤️

What a wonderful day hanging out with my dear friend from the last.

🙏 So grateful watching our kids play and have fun together

🙌 Yay Jay is back

Yay morning walk back this morning. \240I had a gorgeous walk along the road and through the fields. \240The sun is out and warmer today.

We all had breakfast and then Brad headed off to drive back to London. \240

Vicki came back over with Jack and the kids jumped back into the pool. \240We had a lovely morning just hanging out and soaking up our precious time together. \240

We finally said our goodbyes around lunch time and headed off back on the road and bound towards Inverness. \240

We stopped at a castle for a yummy lunch. \240A headache was looming for me and I was starting to feel very average. No napped on the way up to Inverness. \240Gathered some energy to do a big shop at a Tesco before we settled into our campsite for the night. \240

Woke up with a clear head thankfully but still very much in need for an adjustment.

It was our first raining morning in the van and so I bailed on a walk and we resorted to some cartoons over breakfast and some army men play.

We headed into town around 10am so Jay could visit a customer. \240Harvey asleep before we even left so we let him go.

Jay and I did some sticker books and Harvey snoozed whilst Jay went to work.

Still asleep \240and back on the road bound for Lochness.

Noah desperate to figure out if the Lovhness Monster is real! \240We went to the Mueseum in Drumnadrochit. \240It was quite well done info wise but still left Noah questioning!!!

Back in the van and we thought we would grab lunch at a castle just out of town but the car park was full and so we kept driving. \240We finally found a cafe 20 minutes on but they were so busy and understaffed that they were turning people away. \240

So it was lunch on the side of the road with the Hairy Coos. \240I would almost prefer this as think we end up eating better and look at the view!

Back on the toad and entering the highlands and it’s stunning vista. \240Just love the landscape fo Scotland.

We made it to Eilean Donan castle. \240We had a good explore and got plenty of pictures. \240We had a late afternoon tea and then ventured another 5 min up the road to our campsite.

The campsites are so much more rustic up here opposed to the ones with all the trimmings in the UK. \240

We enjoyed a drink in the sun and home cooked dinner. \240The kids were on edge because they wanted to play with some kids on the site but wasn’t sure omhow to go about it. \240After 30 min of whinging and nagging the my finally built up the courage and went and played. \240They stayed out for hours - getting eaten by midges and wet from the misty rain but were in heaven. \240It is these moments that I feel so grateful for these experiences for them - this is the stuff I want them to learn 🙏❤️

❤️ Castles

🙏 Kids finding their confidence and making new friends

I had a beautiful walk this morning hiking up a hill behind the campsite and then back along the road and waters edge.

After breakfast we packed up and headed to the Isle of Skye. \240Instantly the vibe on this island was one like no other. \240Aspects of it could have been New Zealand, some it looking like how I would imagine Iceland to be but overall the mood and mystery of this place is truly unique.

Our first stop was the Fairy Pools. \240It consisted of a 5km hike alongside a river and pools nestled in between the mountains. \240The water was crystal clear and the kids loved playing amongst the rocks. \240

It was chilly when we set out - I felt so grateful to Lisa for lending (giving) me her jacket. \240

After the Fairy Pools we drove and had lunch at another castle. \240The whole experience could have been missed and afterwards Noah quite rightly stated “I think we can tick Castles off our list”!!! \240

Love that peacock printed chair

We got to our campsite late afternoon, put some washing on and then headed into town of Portree for dinner. \240There were a number of good restaurants but a similar story that if you don’t have a booking you don’t have a chance. \240The combination of understaffed and busy post Covid travel. \240

We still managed to find a yummy pizza restaurant and had a reasonably relaxing dinner (thanks to sticker books and YouTube 😬)

😍 Isle of Skye - wow wow wow

❤️ Rustic campsites

❤️ mountains, inlets, magic

Gorgeous sunrise this morning. \240We decided to get on the toad to our first adventure and have breakfast in the car park as we had heard that parking can be tricky. \240

The clouds came over when we got to the Fairy Glen and we set out in some misty rain. \240This just added to the mood of this most spectator place. \240They don’t know how this land was formed but some believe fairies had something to do with it. \240

Like a set of something out Lord of the Rings. \240Curious mound formations, stone rings and rock hills - it was so wonderfully cool exploring our way around it.

Back on the road our next stop was another hike I had read about and was keen to do. \240However we had a big one to end the day so we decided I would do a portion of this hike while Jay and the boys stayed in the van.

A tiny narrow track wedged on the side of the hill looking out over the top of a range. \240It was so amazing. \240One portion had loads of midgies which almost had me considering turning around but they seemed to disappear.

The entire hike would have taken me up wrapping around the top of the mountain and back along the cliff tops ... next time! \240

Back in the van and navigating narrow winding roads back down the valley. \240

We stopped for lunch in the van at this waterfall and cliff tops that are so dramatically positioned over the sea. \240

Noah was far from impressed and was wanting to watch a show!

Then we arrived at The Old Man of Stor. \240We didn’t really know what we were getting into and perhaps that was best as it turned out to be quite the hike.

Harvey did so well on the way up. \240We carried him a couple of times but mostly the promise of a piece of fudge at the top was motivation enough. \240

Noah bounded up happily enough. \240

Amazing views along the way and breathtaking sights with the rock formations and cliff tops. \240

We made it! \240Had the fudge and took some snaps then was ready for the journey back! \240

Honestly just stunning! \240

Harvey and Jay led the way and Harvey didn’t stop talking the whole way down .., mostly about Star Wars and he could be heard despite their generous lead!

Wow what a day of adventure - I feel like in one day we saw a year full of wow moments. \240Body tired and ready for sleep! \240

😍 Isle of Skye you have my heart

🙏 For our courageous boys willing to hike and explore

❤️ These family adventures

Up early to make the most our last morning. \240A cup of tea on the steps of the van overlooking the sunrise. \240

I set off for my walk headed for town and had been given instructions from the campsite manager but quickly realised that I hadn’t really listened to his directions! \240

I made my way along the stone fence and then we’ll went a bit off track. \240Found myself in a boggy field with sheep darting from me. \240I could see where I needed to go and my feet were already sipping wet so I decided to push on!

Yes! \240Back on track and into town I go.

Wow! \240So beautiful this little town of Portree and especially basking in its morning glow. \240

Back to camp and it was back on the road. \240We had our big drive today to Loch Lomond so wanted to get a good start.

Soaking up all the sights of the Isle of Skye as we headed back and a longing for more time to explore was felt.

The drive continued to be stunning - whether we were staring at glassy lakes, rugged mountains and Barron plains - the Scotland Highlands are forever changing and always impressing. \240

We stopped at the cutest bakery for some morning tea - delicious pastries and awesome memes on the wall. \240

Back on the road and a relief for Harvey to have a nap seeing he was so grumpy.

Through Ben Nevis and then a gorgeous stop lakeside for lunch in the van. \240Sun is shining and you can feel the warmth again today. \240

Even though the drive was long today - the scenery was captivating and if it wasn’t for our whinging little mates we could sink into hours of that with ease. \240

We arrived at our campsite in Loch Lomond in the town of Balloch. \240Cute campsite and a great spot right by a little creek. \240Plenty of other kids around as well - school holidays is great for that reason (and balances out the price increase and busyness everywhere!).

We headed into town for a dinner out. \240Booked ahead to avoid disappointment and was quite a nice meal. \240

Another gorgeous morning to myself - cup of tea on the Campervan stairs and then off for a walk.

I headed into town and into a large park/reserve along the lake that also housed a castle.

When I got back the boys were up and we had breakfast and eased into the day. \240The sun was out and it was warming up so we headed off to find a lake adventure. \240

We drove to the town of Luss about 19 min north along the lake. \240A beau little village and plenty of water activities.

The boys were keen for a kayak but a canoe made more sense so we all jumped aboard and set off to explore the gorgeous lake.

Once again the weather gods seem to be on our sides as it was a beautifully warm day. \240We all had a swim (tuck Scotland swim off the list)! \240It was fresh but not as cold as Cornwall. \240

We then headed back to the camper and decided that we would eat in the camper so grabbed a few ingredients and parked up lake side down the road. \240

Again these lunches prove to be my favourite - easy and end up better food than in a restaurant half the time. \240The boys played outside on the grass happily and did a scavenger hunt with Jay. \240

After lunch we headed back to the campground to have a quiet afternoon - we decided to flag adding another activity and just hang out. \240It was so lovely - cups of tea, journaling - even a nap all while the kids played with other kids in \240the campground. \240

I finish days like that and wonder if we have had enough of them on the trip and know if we haven’t it is my urge and desire to do, do, do that prevents us.

We had dinner out at the pub across the road \240but should have stuck with the flow of the day and cooked in the van. \240Aside from that it was a perfectly wonderful day ❤️

Waking to a rainy morning and so I decided to a have a cup of tea on the doorstep of the camper and leave the walk today. \240We needed to head off by 8am so I would be pushing it anyway. \240

We packed up and hit the road to Edinburgh. \240Driving past Stirling but not stopping for any sightseeing.

We dropped off the van and got an Uber to Ross McDonald’s practice and all (except Noah) got some much needed adjustments. \240Was so grateful for his time and willingness to see us all. \240It was lovely to catch up with him briefly and hear about how the school is going. \240

From there we headed to our apartment and fortunately was able to check in early which allowed us to have lunch, Harvey have a nap and I even did a workout. \240We then headed up to town to meet Sara and Walker!

An old bar we would drink at back in the day.

We stopped by the HRC but decided not to stay for a drink - it was a bust and the vibe definitely different. \240I was happy enough with a picture. \240

We met up with Sara and Walker and had such a nice catch up in the sun at Princes St Gardens. \240The boys were sour because we so wouldn’t pay for them to go on a jumpy thing again but Walkers fun ways slowly got them out of their funk. \240

I left Jay with the boys to head for dinner and I went back to Sara’s hotel room with her before us heading out for dinner. \240It was so lovely to spend time with her and catch up. \240She had been through a lot with her Dad passing and so had plenty to vent and release. \240It was nice to be an ear for her.

I resisted having too much to drink as I had my heart set on my last morning walk in Edinburgh the next morning - still def felt tipsy as I headed back almost at midnight. \240G

After a very broken sleep and feeling a little rough from the alcohol last night I got up early determined to walk up Calton Hill. \240It was only a 26 min walk from where we are staying and took me past Graham’s old street so was a trip down memory lane.

Grey and quite bleak up top. \240No one else around and almost eerie. \240

Broughton Place. \240Many of nights spent here.

The classic salt n sauce left over container was appropriately lying on the ground from the night before.

Back at the apartment we packed up and headed to breakfast. \240Noah was mega emotional with lots of tears. \240I find it so frustrating that he obviously is struggling but we are unable to reach and support him appropriately. \240He was still crying when we got to breakfast to meet Sara and Walker.

I had googled for best breakfast in Edinburgh which brought us to Loudes. \240We walk in and themanahaer to meet us was Ross who I used to work with at the HRC. \240Fricken crazy! \240It was lovely to see him and he helped us with a table. \240

We had a lovely brunch with them - so enjoyed our time catching up with them and Walker was well and truly loved by the boys. \240

Then it was goodbyes to Sara and Walker and we made our back to the apartment to grab our bags and an Uberto the airport. \240

It was weird to be back in an airport and dealing with customs and baggage. \240Fairly smooth process and we had some lunch then off to Ireland.

Gorgeous views on arrival and similarities to home. \240

Quinten and Lea met us at the airport and brought a spare car so we could follow them back to their house. \240Almost a 2 hour drive through lovely scenery. \240We arrived to a very warm day and after settling in we headed to Quinten’s parents house 5 min up the road. \240

We were warmly greeted by his gorgeous extended family who were all together for a family reunion. \240The kids were in heaven with kids farm toys, go karts, dogs and getting to meet Cole. \240

We had dinner and chats with the many Aunts and Uncles. \240It was heartwarming to feel so welcomed and to see the joy pouring out of everyone ... jovial Irish ☘️

Jay has a go at Curling and the boys played chasey with the big cousins. \240At 10pm headed home and fell into bed. \240Already so grateful we came to see these guys!

Slow start all round. \240Sat up having a quiet cuppa with Leah and Devin before heading off for a walk around town. \240

It’s a small town - pretty aspects but also quiet bleak in places. \240You can sense the “smallness” of it all and the “everybody knows everybody” feel about it. \240

Back for some breakfas and hangs. \240The kids were so content playing and no intention to get dressed or leave the house we all just settled in to having tea and chats all morning.

The rain set in so after a quick lunch we packed up and drove to a nearby town for the kids to all have a swim. \240I happily sat on the sidelines with a cup of tea and caught up on some of the journal.

Then we headed back to Leah and Quinten’s via the supermarket to pick up ingredients for homemade pizza. \240The kids had a blast cooking with Quinten. \240As expected he is such a wonderful playful Dad.

Chats after dinner and then off to bed. \240A great slow and relaxing day all round 🙏❤️

Another slow start - kids slowly surfaced and went straight into play. \240

Leah and I set off for a walk together along the river that runs through town. \240It was a beautiful walk - Leah chatting away and I was worried how far we were walking due to her mobility with the pregnancy so suggested we turn around! \240

Back at the house no surprises the kids were engrossed with play and any suggestions to leave the house for an activity were squashed! \240

We finally got agreement that going to Uncle John and Aunty Maggie’s house to explore their farm was a good idea. \240We packed a picnic and headed off - they lived past the village where Maggie had the pub and just over the border into Kilkenny county.

John took us to the top of the hill on his property that housed an old tomb passage. \240A formation of tombs identified by their rocks and laid specifically in a circle. \240It’s estimated to be 5000 years old and each year on the winter solstice at the same time light shines directly through two of the stones and lights up the stone directly opposite. \240The mystery and wonder of who and how blows my mind - the fact we will never know exactly how they created these and the knowledge they had on the land, the seasons and the moon. \240

It was so wonderful to hear Unvle John explain this to us and how sacred this land is and how special they are the caretakers of it. \240

Uncle John left us on the hill and we headed down slowly exploring the fields and the forest along the way. \240

Back at their house gorgeous Maggie spoilt the kids with sugary treats on tap and we sat and drank tea. \240Aunty Maggie - is the one aunt of Quinten’s who has never had children how ever very maternal and obviously a huge support to them. \240

They both were so divine and welcomed us in as warmly as only Irish seem to. \240Maggie gifted me a necklace as we left. \240So very touching.

Back at home Quinten made his famous burgers which went down a treat.

I was feeling very heavy in the tummy from the over indulging and was thinking today it might be time for some fasting. \240

I woke and was going to head for a walk but instead ended up on toilet and then felt really wiped out. \240Harvey woke soon after and started vomiting - poor little man didn’t stop all day and I continued to feel average so wasn’t sure if I was to follow. \240

Meanwhile Jay, Noah, Cole and Quinten went for a scooter along the river and went up to Quinten’s Mums house for a visit. \240

In the afternoon, Harvey had finally had some breaks in the vomiting and I was starting to feel a bit betters. Leahs sisters Amy and Paige came over with Amy’s two sons. \240It was so wonderful to meet them - although brief. \240

After a little moment outside Harvey and I headed back to bed and resumed our positions. \240

We thought we were up to dinner but Harvey spewed again shortly after and as we went off to bed I am hoping desperately that tomorrow he is better as a 4am start awaits as we make our back to London! \240

Thankfully Harvey seemed to be done with the vomiting as we piled out of the house at 4:30am. \240Beautiful Leah got up and drove us to the airport. \240He was exhausted when we got to the airport though and fell asleep while we waited to check in.

Check in took ages - one person on the desk - we are seeing the effects of the staff shortages in many ways as we travel around. \240Bars and cafes struggling and major delays at airports due to limited staff. \240Some say since getting laid off during Covid they have gone to work elsewhere or that they are content with the money they are receiving from the govt not to work. \240Europe is supposed to be worse for travel so we are bracing ourselves and calling on the travel fairies! \240

After a quick flight to Stanstead we got a bus that took longer then the flight into London. \240Harvey had done really well travelling the day despite feeling so average and I was so relieved that no more spewing! \240

We got a cab back to Brads and I spent the rest of the day in bed with Harvey. \240Jay and Noah went to get lunch and play a round of mini golf. \240

I was still feeling really average and just hoping we both turn a corner the next day! \240

Well my hope of is turning a corner didn’t come true.

I was up all night with explosive diarrhoea - the worst I have had. \240So woke up feeling weak and like I had been hit by a train.

Harvey was still weak, complaining of tummy pains and not interested in eating.

So it was another day on the couch for us and I kept thinking I’ll get up and do some yoga or something productive but quickly was reminded that body was still in healing mode.

Noah and Jay headed out to Shepherds Bush to have lunch and a shop. \240

Come dinner I was ready to eat a bit and was hopeful that tomorrow we would be back on track for Mum and Dads arrival! \240

Aaah I’m back - well kind of! \240I headed of for a morning walk and it felt so good to be out and about again. \240

Poor Harvey still not right - so excited for Mum and Dad to arrive and some Poppa and Gigi love. \240

After my walk they got in and we had hugs and breakfast. \240Brad headed off for the weekend to play golf. \240

After breakfast we put Harvey into the pram and headed off to Mini Golf with Mum and Dad. \240He didn’t even ask to play so I pushed him around the park and he had a sleep and Noah got to dominate mini putt!

We got some lunch and headed home then went in search for the best scone we could find in Chiswick! \240

Home for leg massages for the tired travellers and a yummy home cooked meal. \240So good to have Mum and Dad here and start this next part of the journey. \240

Was good to see Harvey eat a bit more this afternoon and evening - nothing like a Poppa Mark adjustment. \240

Up and out to see Guinness and for me to go for a walk. \240Poor Harvey still only energy for the pram.

I can’t believe how dry and burnt off everything is - I really notice it in contrast to when we first arrived in June.

Guinness seemed to really sense that Harvey wasn’t his usual self - even bringing the frisbee to him. \240💙

We decided not to push Harvey and so Jay and he stayed at home, Dad headed off to do chiro things and Mum, Noah and I head off to do the hop on hop off bus in the the city.

We had to do a sneaky trip to Hamleys and then ended up walking more then planned in the heat. \240When we finally got back on the bus it was a stopping lots and for ages and we were in the hot sun. \240Noah was quiet chilled despite the long hot day and the fact that we barely ate.

We got off at Tower of London and failed to find a late lunch and so jumped on the river cruise back to Westminster and settled with a cold drink and chips on the boat. \240

Determined to find some ice cream we walked and walked and finally settled for a magnum and happily sat in the shade. \240

Longer day then expected! \240We made our way home and had left overs before doing some packing and heading to bed. \240

Tomorrow - Amsterdam!!!

Another really early start for us - up at 4am.

Jays turn now to have the upset tummy and the runs. \240Will see if Noah follows suit.

Our travel angels winery on our side today in more ways than one. \240We were unsure on how entering the Netherlands would go as online it states only vax travellers from UK are eligible. \240We only realised it a few days before we left and decided to give it a go seeing we had the flights booked at based on what Shayne and others had experienced they said we would be fine.

We had a smooth run through check in and flight was on time and then sailed through entry into Amsterdam 🙌🙌. Another one for the lost of how ridiculous Ovid rules are! \240

Harvey still on the average side had a good sleep on the short flight over. \240

Hello Europe! \240Hello half way mark of our trip! \240So hard to believe that we are at that stage already. \240Feels like a lifetime ago that we left but at the same time feels like yesterday. \240Feel funny about making the half way mark - count down begins in a way not also so much to go. \240Reminders to myself to stay in the present ❤️

Yay it’s Shayne and Tara time! \240So awesome to arrive in beautiful Amsterdam and walk the bustling streets to Shayne’s friends house where we will stay. \240

When we got there energy was fading and upon seeing the place we realised that it was too small for all of us so Mum and Dad would stay at the Clubhouse. \240

Clubhouse ❤️

On the streets again and I search for some yummy lunch! \240Following Tara and Shayne through the streets as they kiss and hug their community along the way. \240So wonderful to see them in their hood. \240

After some lunch we headed back for some quiet time. \240The boys enjoyed a watching the world go by from the window.

Then as promised in the afternoon we took the boys crabbing! \240Amsterdam is certainly not known for crabbing however Tara mentioned crayfish and the boys were determined if something existed at the bottom of those dirty canals that they will find them!

We got some ham and gave it their best go. \240They were great entertainment for the loungers sitting on the jetty smoking their joints! \240Harvey’s net went for a swim to the bottom of the canal and after 10 minutes of no bites they were ready to move on! \240

We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging in a community playground complete with toys and bikes. \240So beautiful to be here - the energy and atmosphere is bubbly and joyful. \240Suits Shayne perfectly ❤️

For dinner we headed back to our house and Tara delivered some delicious pho for us before we all hit the sack. \240

Beautiful walk this morning soaking up a park near Cats house. \240Getting my senses used to the hustle of the bikes and making sure I’m looking the right way. \240They have such a rhythm and it’s amazing there isn’t more accidents. \240They have zero patience for pedistrians and can be quite rude and abrupt and yet off the bike they are so relaxed and friendly.

Back to the house for breakfast and then we went to meet up with Mum and Dad and headed for a canal cruise. \240

So amazing seeing the architecture and the lean of some of the houses due to the canals sinking. \240The charm of the canals, the bridges and the quietness of the city due to no cars. \240

Harvey taking the opportunity to nap.

After we did the boat tour we had lunch at a cafe and I left everyone to go and get my hair cut and coloured. \240

Jay went with Mum and Dad to go to the park and have a splash in the fountain. \240Another really hot day! \240

Had a lovely time getting my hair cut - Shayne came and met me after and we met up with Mum and Dad for ice coffee and pastries. \240

Then I headed back to our house - got a workout in before we all headed out for dinner. \240

We started with drinks at a Mexican restaurant - Gin and Tonics all round! \240So refreshing after such a hot day.

Then we walked “around the corner” \240(in Shayne’s world - which actually was over a km) to a lovely Mediterranean restaurant. \240

We had a delicious dinner outside and the kids enjoyed an awesome adventure playground across the road. \240

Awesome day! \240Feeling so grateful for every moment ❤️🙏❤️

We got up headed to the clubhouse to organise some bikes for the mornings adventures. We decided to not waste time having breakfast as we will get it on the ride.

In true Postles style we seem to do a lot “organising” and not a lot of doing and poor Jay just takes himself off to breath through the madness! \240

Finally organised (and hungry) we set off! \240The boys on a bakfiets (bukfits) and Jay in the drivers seat. \240He did a great job manuevering his way, as did Dad and I.

We rode through some major parks and in search for some brunch. \240Dad had to head back to attend a workshop he was doing at the Clubhouse. \240

After breakfast we headed to one of the largest parks - Vondelpark. \240Such a gorgeous park with lakes, splash parks, cafes and playgrounds. \240I wish we had more time to just relax in the park for an hour or two but we had to get the bikes back. \240

Noah said to me how much he loved riding like this “feel the wind Mum, wish we could ride like this in Auckland”! \240

After we returned the bikes we went for a walk more in the shopping area and met up with Mum for an iced coffee and snack. \240

We then headed back to our favourite playground for the kids and Mel came and met me for a catch up. \240

Jay and Mum took the kids out for dinner and I met up with the chiro crew for drinks and tacos. \240

Was so lovely to catch up with beautiful WCCS crew - Kelly

Happy Birthday Gigi! \240

I got up early and did a workout and then we packed up breakfast things and headed over to the Clubhousento have celebration breakfast all together.

We found some cute earrings for Mum from a local designer. \240

Then we headed off to tour some of the traditional Dutch towns. \240

We headed to Volendam first which is on the water. \240Cute town but very touristy. \240Kids were grumpy and irritable and so we had a quick morning tea and then headed off on the boat over to Marken.

We had a lovely lunch at Marken and a little walk around then we headed back to the bus. \240

Back in Amsterdam we headed to find Gigi her requested birthday cake of cheesecake. \240

We wandered back to the Clubhouse and dropped Mum and Dad off. \240Headed back to our house and I did a workout and the boys chilled out. \240

For dinner Jay got the boys some takeaway pizza and I headed out for a lovely birthday dinner with Mum, Dad and Shayne.

We went to a beautiful restaurant where we had a five course meal - seasonal and local produce and every dish had seafood. \240It was delicious and so nice to celebrate Mum on her special day ❤️

After not being able to be there for Mums 70th this was a very special day ❤️

Mum and Dads last day today and so Mum, Jay, I and the boys headed off early determined to find some windmills.

After thinking we had it all figured it out we got off at the wrong train station and ended up walking and walking until we found a bus. \240When we finally found the windmills we realised the train station we should have gotten off was just down the road from the windmills! \240

We had a little wander around a little tourist village which weirdly had no cafes. \240

Back over the bridge we found somewhere for a coffee. \240

The kids rattiness had been building and were showing signs of some much needed down time. \240We said goodbye to Mum and Dad and headed back to Cats for some quiet time. \240

Such a cool little apartment - steep stairs on entrance leading up to another door that opens into lounge and kitchen. \240Then a tiny spiral staircase leading up from the lounge into a landing with bathroom and two bedrooms. \240Off the main bedroom is a rooftop terrace that links to the balcony off the kitchen via another spiral staircase. \240Car has designed it beautifully and has plenty of stuff for such a small space -‘every cupboard is piled high making the most of every storage space. \240The massive windows in the lounge overlooking the small street below is great for people watching - however the cigarette and weed smoke wafting in constantly does not please me!!! \240

Late afternoon gorgeous Shayne and Tara came over to help us with all our stuff and we headed over to spend the last 3 nights at the Cluhouse.

We were all feeling pretty wiped out and desperate for a slow dinner and home cooked one too. \240The heat had been tiring and it had been a busy few days. \240

Shayne’s beautiful friends Sarah, Iggy and Jordan came over for chicken and salad. \240The kids had a great play - and a spray down from Shayne - and we sat out along the canal and had a yummy dinner. \240

Magical little way to end the day. \240We all slumped into bed and loved the coolness of the clubhouse cave. \240

Slow morning in the Clubhouse today was just what we all needed. \240I enjoyed a lovely cup of tea on my own overlooking the canal and then headed out for a morning walk.

Got back and had some breakfast and then the boys settled in to watch Star Wars like they had been requesting since we saw Shayne in Edinburgh. \240Jay and I headed off for a little shop. \240

When we got back we were meant to go meet Iggy in the park but I had a headache and overall botherdness was pretty low.

So we bailed and decided a relaxing afternoon was what we all needed. \240Shayne was feeling that too.

Jay took the kids for ice cream and then came back for more Star Wars. \240

Shayne and I lazed around and chatted. \240We finally got out again for an ice coffee and picked up some dinner things for tacos.

A late afternoon play at the playground before heading home for dinner.

Woke up feeling refreshed and after breakfast we set out for a bike ride to visit Marty.

We didn’t get very far, \240Harvey was on the back of my bike and he thought we were stopping and so started to get down and his foot got twisted back and caught in the tyre spokes. \240He let out an almighty scream and the bike came to a halt as if the stand fell down. \240On lookers could see the severity of the situation before we could. \240I couldn’t look at his poor ankle and just held him tight while Jay and Shayne assesses it. \240The glimpse I took of it looked horrendous and there was area on the talus that looked white and we weren’t sure if it was down to the bone or ligament ... it looked scary whatever it was. \240Harvey was still crying and I was starting to feel faint from all of the intensity. \240Shayne ran around to see if a medical centre was opened and in the meantime people stopped by with ice and water. \240We decided to call an ambulance to get some support and reassurance that he was ok. \240He started saying he was tired and wanted to go to sleep which scared me but realised now it was just the shock of it all. \240

The ambulance was there quickly and the bandaged it and suggested we head to hospital to ensure it wasn’t broken. \240When we started talking about getting an Uber and the time it may take the gorgeous ambulance drivers said they would take us. \240What should have been 600 euros was free - they gave Harvey a teddy bear and the reassurance we needed. \240So so grateful for Martin and his colleague.

Once at the hospital, Harvey has started to calm down. \240He was unbelievable strong about it all. \240He really does have a high pain threshold. \240The wait to see the nurse didn’t take long. \240She offered him paracetamol and I accepted - I hesitated and really I think he would have been fine without but it was such a severe injury and I still didn’t know what was ahead. \240

After an X-ray to confirm no breaks he had a sleep while we waited for the Dr. \240the Dr bandaged it again and he was quite perky when he woke so we headed home! \240

On the way out we saw our Ambulabce drivers again \240and we are able to get an “after” shot with Harvey a lot happier. \240

Back at Shayne’s we had some lunch and then decided to get back on the bike!!! \240This time with a bike seat. \240Harvey hadn’t complained of pain (don’t know how) and so we thought we would make the most of our last afternoon in Amsterdam.

We headed over to Nord (Amsterdam North) on a ferry and rode around to a market and eating area redevelopment in a shopping yard.

Some awesome art installations.

Harvey happy with his massive bowl of ice cream after the Dr saying that is what he needed! \240

Noah happy to jump on board that too!

Feeling happy with a G&T and so happy Harvey’s foot was ok. \240

Going to miss our special Shayne ❤️

Noah was so proud and happy to finally purchase a necklace from a market stall.

Back on the bikes we headed for an early dinner at a Burger Bar

Another hot day in Amsterdam - 31. \240The bikes were so refreshing to get around with some breeze. \240We headed back over to the city and Shayne took us the long way home so we could soak up every last minute of our time in this super cool city.

Got home and got the kids tucked into bed. \240What a massive day filled with plenty of drama and excitement and just feel so grateful that he is ok. \240Feel like we dodged a massive bullet as it could have been so much worse. \240

Going to miss you Amsterdam. \240Not sure your dirty streets or cigarette smoke, but definitely your charm, your vibrancy, your food, your flair, your lack of cars and your art and innovation. \240Dank u wel Amsterdam 🙏❤️🙏

Another early start for Tansition Day. \240Up at 4:30am to do last minute packing. \240Dragged the kids out of bed (thankfully Harvey slept well and wasn’t complaining of any pain). \240Off to the trains station to get to the airport by 6am for a 10:30am flight - we have been warned that Amsterdam airport is the worst for delays at the moment due to staffing and to allow between 3-5 hours to get through check in and customs 😱

Calling on our fairies again to let it be smooth. \240With Harvey in the pram (thank god we had it) nursing his injury and all the luggage in tow. \240

We had a smooth run and therefore a long wait at the gate but nothing a movie for the boys didn’t fix. \240Then it was take off for Barcelona!

On arrival we had a quick lunch in the airport due to hungry tummies and then caught a cab to our Air BNB where Tarnea was waiting for us 🙌❤️🙌

We dropped our stuff and then headed down towards the Arc de Triomf to meet up with Jamie ❤️

It was lovely to catch up with him. \240I forgot how hilarious and dry his sense of humour is and how passionate he is for chiro. \240

After our meet up with Jamie we headed out for an early dinner. \240It was hot again \240(31) and so everyone was tired from another big day in the heat.. \240We had a delicious meal of tapas and of course a G&T! \240So lovely to be here and to see Tarnea ❤️

Back to our Air BNB and kids asleep for cups of tea and chocolate on our balcony. \240A great Air BnB with plenty of space and a wonderful location. \240

Up early for a walk and I met Tarnea for a coffee and she showed me some of her favourite bakeries.

The streets are so wide, the buildings so massive and so much of it looks the same. \240I can normally get my bearings quite easily but struggled this morning.

After breakfast we headed off for our big day of sightseeing. \240Jay in charge of today and I recognise how much I love when he takes lead and I have no strong opinions on what we do - makes for a smooth day!

First stop was the Sagrada Familia. \240Wow! \240I had no idea and my only wish is that we got tickets to look inside. \240We explored the outside and then hopped on the bus.

We got off at Gaudi’s Park Guell. \240It was already sweltering hot so it was nice to wander through the park and take advantage of the shaded areas. \240Again thankfully we had the pram for Harvey - not sure how we would have survived without it. \240

So many people! \240

Beautiful designs

Creative and like a fairy tale

After we left the park everyone needed something to cool down and these delicious ice blocks were perfect. \240We then made it back on the bus to continue to the tour. N

Barcelona Football Stadium

We got off down at the port and went for a walk along the beach. \240So so hot - boys were tired but some bubbles entertained them and the thought of feet dipping in the ocean kept them going. \240

Ah our first taste of the ocean. \240We didn’t bring togs so it was only our feet but it felt amazing and made us excited for what was to come. \240

We headed back and walked up La Rambla - a very vibrant and cosy shopping street with plenty of restaurants and tacky shop after tacky shop to keep Noah wanting and whinging the whole way!

Then it was back on the bus and we headed back to have a shower before meeting up with Tarnea for dinner. \240

Another delicious line up of tapas for dinner - I’d say my favourite yet! \240

After dinner we walked through Tarnea’s district that was celebrating a festival. \240Each street decorated a different them and they compete. \240People everywhere and such a great atmosphere. \240

Tarnea took us for some amazing gelato.

This street was movie themed.

What an amazing day - loved all the sights and tonight was extra special.

❤️❤️❤️

Had a sleep in this morning and a slow start. \240Boys were worn out from big day yesterday. \240I managed a workout and then T came down to hang with kids and I while Jay went for work appointment. \240We headed down to the park near the Arc de Trium.

Harvey’s ankle still in healing mode and looking so tender. \240He barely mentions it though and Jay is doing a great job at dressing it. \240He can weight bare but only just so still hobbling around and being carried or in the pram. \240

Tarnea helping Harvey pop the bubbles seeing he can’t get out of the pram (he is starting to get good at instructing and demanding where he is taking too)! \240

After our walk we headed back to meet up Jay. \240We left Tarnea with the boys to watch a movie and Jay and I headed off to do some birthday shopping for the boys. \240

Back to the apartment and I did a work out and then we headed off to meet Tarnea again for dinner. \240After two nights of Tapas it was time to have some Paella. \240It was delicious and in the similar area that we have eaten the last two nights so we got to walk through the festival again. \240Harvey didn’t nap today so we had to be-line it home before we all turned it to pumpkins! \240I’m sure we have our Tarnea off having kids for a long while - the boys have been particularly heightened the last few days.

After another hot day we are looking forward getting to some water and beach tomorrow. \240

I personally enjoyed Barcelona but can’t say I loved it as much as some rave about it. \240I felt like I needed more greenery (despite Jay rightly pointing out that there are massive trees in every street). \240The tallness of everything gives you a claustrophobic feeling and lacks sunlight. \240The architecture and the food I absolutely loved though ❤️

Early start for us this morning despite a late night ... Mmm fun day ahead. \240

We packed up and left our gorgeous Barcelona apartment and headed out for brunch with T before heading to the bus station.

After a fairly smooth 45min bus ride we arrived to Lloret De Mar. \240considerably cooler day and so we happily hiked up the hill 1km to our hotel.

The boys are in heaven at the sights and all on offer at the hotel. \240We had a quick lunch and then were able to get into our room and the boys were straight into togs ready to hit the pools when a thunder storm came over and closed the pool - after only 2 rainy days since being away in June we were a little disappointed that we got a rain storm right as we rock up to waterslides and pool heaven for the boys!

Thankfully there was a local ten pin bowling alley so we headed there and before we finished our game the skies had cleared.

After the game we headed to explore more of the town. \240From what we had seen so far I was far from impressed. \240It reminded me of the Gold Coast on schoolies week and the hotel wasn’t quite as nice as the website lead you to believe. \240

Fortunate when we walked down to the beach and along we realised that there was an “older” part of town that had loads of shops and restaurants and was more quaint and had the Spanish charm I was hoping for.

We found a little restarting on the water front for an early dinner before heading home. \240As it turned out it was good that Harvey didn’t swim today as we really need a few more healing days for the scab to gain some traction in the healing process. \240

By the end of the day I had shaken off my Ali snobbery and realised that we are in the perfect place to celebrate the boys birthdays 🎂

Woke up early to head for a walk keen to see more of the part of town where we had dinner last night.

I found this beautiful cliff top trail that followed the cliffs all around from Lloret and if I had time the 12kms to Tossa Del Mar. \240Beautiful sights and stunning time of the day.

Back at the hotel we assess the healing progress of Harveys foot. \240It was looking pretty knarly. \240We had put a waterproof bandage on it and forgot to take it off over night so it didn’t breathe. \240He was obviously so excited to get in the water but we were quite anxious about getting it any wetter.

We opted for the waterproof sock and very limited water time. \240Big brother was happy to help him have some fun and Jay was amazing with assessing the situation and making sure he had as much fun as possible.

He was such a trooper today and content with spurts of water time and then drying out his scab on the lounger. \240I spoke to Kimmy and Dad for reassurance as the last thing we needed was an infection or a major step backwards. \240

By the end of the day it was looking a bit better and with no sign of fever or redness we were more relaxed. \240He still doesn’t \240complain of any pain. \240

At lunch time Noah and I went for a walk into town while Harvey Naples and Jay worked. \240We found a cute patisserie and ordered the boys birthday cakes.

Such a beautiful old town with a gorgeous church and quite a bustling shopping and restaurant scene.

Back at the hotel it was back to the pool. \240Noah and Jay has a wonderful time on all the waterslides. \240Noah hesitant to start (as always) but proudly conquered all of them on offer.

So much happiness in one day here and so grateful for choosing this place. \240Happy boys! \240

For dinner we headed to the old town square that we found at lunch. \240Had a delicious Burrata Salad. \240

After dinner we had a little walk through the shops. \240What started off with anxiousness for Harvey ended up being a simply wonderful day ❤️💙💙💙

Took my walk in the opposite direction today and headed to other end of beach. \240Not much to see though - ended up in more the club and bars section with no charm and lots of girls heading home with their rose in hand and smeared mascara!

Back for breakfast (buffet isn’t too bad and I take the lunch boxes day to load up on snacks for the day). \240Assessment of Harveys foot - better than yesterday and feeling if we can go easy water wise again today hopefully by his birthday we can set him free on the slides 🤞

We had a great morning - Noah and Jay non stop on the waterslides and Harvey and I taking it easy pool side. \240

Up to the room for some chilled time and to try and get Harvey to nap. \240

More slides, swims and ice blocks was our afternoon and then Mum and Dad arrived! \240We had a quick G&T by the pool and then headed down to the beach front for dinner and ice cream.

After dinner, Jay our the kids to bed and Mum and I wrapped Harveys birthday presents for tomorrow. \240Hoping we can put together a fun celebration for him.

Great having Mum and Dad back with us ❤️

Our baby is 4! \240

We had all the presents laid out for him so he woke to presents and balloons. \240Big brother was very keen (and also jealous that it wasn’t his day) to help as he opened his gifts. \240We wonder what age they will be when the birthday clash won’t be an issue?!?

After presents we headed to breakfast and then I went down to pick up the cake. \240We had a little birthday party ok our awesome deck.

Star Wars was the request and I did my best!

Then it was back to the pool for swims, gangs and hot dogs for lunch! \240

Mum and Dad loving soaking up the sun.

Harvey managed to ride a couple of the slides but we still held him back a bit. \240He continues to be so patient about it all.

After another great day by the pool we headed out for dinner. \240His birthday request was dinner with just me 😍. So Harvey and I ate at one pace and the others dined a few restaurants away. \240We all met up for ice cream after.

And that’s a wrap for his 4th trip around the sun! \240What a little determined and adventurous soul we have. \240Never a dull (or quiet) moment with Harvey around. \240

🙏 Family birthday celebrations NOT in lockdown 🎉🎉🎉

Scab update ... just the deepest part now remains fleshy and with pus. \240We are thinking today we will just wrap it with waterproof bandage and maybe loose the sock. \240

From one birthday to the next ... Noah turns 7! \2407 sounds so big and is such a transition year - so much install for our big boy. \240

He woke to presents galore and was the over the moon to get his drone! \240More Star Wars theme and a slight roll over from yesterday but there were no complaints! \240

After breakfast Noah just wanted to come back to the room and build LEGO and fly his drone.

We finally made it down to the pool for some more waterslide fun. \240

Left over pizza for lunch and more LEGO (I got a workout in).

We then walked down to the beach for a change of scenery and to fulfill Noah’s birthday request - inflatable water castle!

Harvey luckily slept through the whole thing which allowed Jay and Noah to go out for the fun. \240We had our first swim since being in Spain! \240Beautiful clear water and so refreshing.

Back to the hotel and ready for Birthday dinner - request was Mexican and I like Harvey, everyone was welcome 🎉

We flagged birthday cakes for ice cream sundaes and will do cake tomorrow morning!

Such a great day and Noah \240had al he asked for 🙌🎉💙. We are so proud of this kid, his heart and empathy is immense, his curiosity of how all things work and his quest for adventure. \240What a blessing ❤️

Birthday celebrations continue and after packing up and having breakfast it was up to our room for birthday cake! \240Noah requested M&Ms and that is what he got ... although he said “too many Mum, didn’t need that much”! \240The cake wasn’t as good as Harveys and it was early so most of the cake was left in the room for the cleaning ladies morning tea! \240

Then we piled into a van and headed to Barcelona airport. \240Thankful that we organised a transfer. \240Once at the airport we had a smooth check in and then had a few hours to kill because we had arrived so early to be on the safe side. \240

We found a good eatery and settled in. \240Harvey had a nap at the table!!!

Then on the plane bound for Palma, Mallorca ☀️

Dad being creative with the mask rules! \240

Smooth flight and straight into taxis and to Lloret Del Mar and yay O’Meara time! \240

So wonderful to see everyone in this most magical spot. \240Hotel is lovely and the beach and restaurants right at our front door. \240

We got settled and had a quick swim before heading out for dinner and bed as big travelling day. \240Looking forward to exploring tomorrow ❤️

Up early to meet the girls for a walk. \240Emma arrived last night too so another beautiful soul we get to connect with. \240

We had a lovely walk around the harbour and then back for tea and coffee and Sage snuggles around the pool. \240

The kids had a great sleep and Jay brought them down for breakfast. \240The buffet was certainly a step up from the Lloret. \240

After breakfast we caught the tram up to Lloret township which was 10min inland. \240Beautiful little ride.

We had a little walk around and an ice coffee. \240The heat was intense so we were all keen to get back to the hang at the beach. \240

Back to the hotel and straight to the beach. \240The water is like warm - almost too warm. \240The boys loved swimming around and Harvey made some great progress into he water today. \240

We found some lunch - although the heat is so intense my appetite is certainty lower. \240After lunch back to the pool and beach. \240Harvey did some great swimming in the pool too and showed us what a little focus can do and how quick kids catch on.

We headed out to dinner early so the boys could have an early night - it’s tricky because it’s still so hot and the sun is low and shining right into the restaurant - you sweat your way through a meal! \240

On our way back we saw Mum and Dad heading for dinner. \240The beauty of this place is that very thing is so close that each family can do their own thing but you run into each other. \240

We popped up to the roof top before dropping the boys with Jay to bed and then I went out for gelato with the girls ❤️

Such a special place and magic times seeing everyone ❤️☀️❤️

Another early start to get up and walk with the girls. \240Today we hiked up to the lighthouse which was about 5km return. \240Nice to see the harbour from a different perspective. \240It’s all just stunning. \240

Back for breakfast, stash snacks in the lunch box and then off to the beach. \240We headed to a different portion today - in the bay opposite our hotel the fish were nibbling Jays feet! \240Lots of people were getting bitten - I just kept moving and seemed to dodge it. \240

Dreamy morning hanging at the beach with everyone.

For lunch Casie, Tarnea and I went out which was so special. \240We had a look at some shops too and I got a pretty linen dress. \240

Back again to the pool and more swimming for Harvey and Jay went for a beer with TJ❤️

The oldies had been out for the day exploring other parts of the island. \240They returned in time for a swim.

Then it was a quick change, a quick food run and we headed out for a boat tour. \240It was an awesome night. \240We stopped in caves and then settled in a little bay with massive boats around us and the boys had a night swim off the boat which they thought was so cool. \240

Harvey had plenty of questions for Poppa on the way home - non stop chat! \240Based on tonight I think he will love the boat I’m Croatia. \240

Happy Anniversary to us - 8 years today ❤️

I got up early for another walk with the girls (and TJ). \240We went up to the other side of the harbour. \240

After breakfast Noah was complaining of a sore tummy and had been off food for the last couple of days. \240Jay took him back to the room to watch a movie and chill out. \240Gigi, Harvey and I went for a walk down to a cafe and then headed back to the beach. \240

Noah perked up and came and joined us along with the rest of the crew. \240So special ❤️

For anniversary celebrations Jay and I headed out for dinner (despite tears and drama in \240the lead up)

Poor Jay wasn’t feeling that great but decided we would go despite him being a bit off. \240We had a beautiful dinner - I had one of the best fish dishes I’ve had - the sauce was sensational. \240

Mum and Dad took the boys out and they passed us along the way looking ever so cute. \240

Early night as Jay was wasted and off to bed. \240Pretty special to celebrate our anniversary here and nice to have a meal out together on our own ❤️

2
Hotel Eden

Our last morning walk. Never gone was feeling tired but didn’t want to miss our last morning together. \240How has it already been a week?!? \240

After breakfast we all headed down to soak up the last of our time together. \240A thunder storm was brewing which kind of helped the fact that we had to leave.

Final goodbyes before the O’Meara clan headed off in their car rentals to their Air BNB in the hills and we headed to the airport bound for Rome.

Such a magical week all together - so grateful for our special FamBam ❤️

When we got to the airport we saw the thunder storms were creating delays across the board. \240Check in went relatively smooth (once we figured out how to check in the stroller) and our flight appeared to only be an hour late. \240Noah was still not feeling the best but wasn’t articulating exactly what he was feeling except a sore tummy. \240

We found a cafe and set up camp and then finally headed to the gate. \240They called for boarding and everyone stood for about 45 min waiting for them to start. \240Finally we went through boarding gate then to only all be held in the gang way (assuming we were waiting for a bus). \240We were there for another 45 min with no explanation and it was hot and poor Jay had the runs and had to get to a toilet! \240He wasn’t the only one who made a mad dash back hoping that we wouldn’t all leave in the meantime.

Finally a bus came to collect us and finally we got on the plane. \240Almost a 2 hour boarding process.

We eventually landed in Rome at 8pm and all piled into a cab - the taxi driver was hilariously optimistic that he could fit 4 large suitcases, 6 backpacks, a stroller and 6 people into his regular cab ... but to his credit he did!!! \240

We pulled up to our Air BnB and a gorgeous host was waiting for us - as we were about to go in we realised Harveys back pack was left in the cab - quick thinking Jay bolted up the road and thankfully a red light saved us and he was able to get it. Up 4 flights of stairs with all our stuff, a takeaway of pizza and lasagna later we were so so pleased to be in our beautiful Rome air BnB.

I feel excited about tomorrow - not knowing what to expect of this amazing city. \240

I was up early and itching to get out. \240Our apartment was close to the Colosseum so I headed that way. \240My first impressions of Rome was grand and romantic - it had a quiet hum about it - different to Barcelona - I can’t quite explain. \240

A short 10 min walk and there she was in the \240beautiful morning light. \240Grand and romantic.

After my walk I headed back to the supermarket and picked up some essentials for breakfast. \240New country, new language means new detective work tondecifer what I’m buying and to locate the gluten free section!!!

After breakfast we headed off for our big day touring Rome - and big it was.

First stop was the Colosseum. \240The boys showed interest and requested to go in - we have been avoiding tours and mueseums as it’s just not been there thing but we thought this is an exemption. \240We got told entry was sold out till 2pm unless we wanted to do an hour tours starting in ten minutes. \240So we signed up for a tour.

Well 45 min later standing in the 30 degree heat and a lot of chat and “useful and interesting” information later we went in! \240 (Dad loved it, Mum was tapping her feet and the boys were not so quietly saying “when are we going in”!)

The tour guide was great but unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of Gladiator info which is what the boys were wanting. \240Harvey still was into it and asked so many questions and Poppa was very patient with him.

We left the Colosseum and got on the hop on hop off bus - we ended up only staying on it for two stops before getting off to find some lunch and a drink. \240

Lunch was underwhelming and not what we had hoped for our first Italian meal but hey on with the day!

We walked from the Altar of the Fatherland (below) to the Trevi Fountain.

Harvey was asleep by the time we got to Trevi and it was so packed with people which made it hard to really soak it up. \240I searched for Ice Coffees for Mum and I - always a bit of a challenge it seems. \240The boys had Gelato and then we helped this gorgeous Aussie block to get the photo his niece had insisted he get! \240

After the Fountain we contemplated either walking back the way we came to get back on the bus or doing the almost 2km walk to the Vatican. \240It was hot hot hot but everyone was content to stroll along. \240

We quickly learnt to always look up in Rome as there is beauty and wonder at all angles. \240The quality of architecture is truly hard to believe.

On our journey we got to see so many additional sights that we would have missed if we had gone on the bus. \240

Pantheon

Piazza Navona

Supreme Court

Just as everyone was starting to drag we made it to the Vatican. \240The boys were hot and tired and Harvey had a nice meltdown as we walked off to find a drink. \240A much needed bag of chips and G&T before running to get back on the bus.

Please get it for us Mum and Dad - we won’t ask for anything else in Rome, we promise. \240Five minutes later - Oooh can I have one of those!!!

We had a lovely dinner close to our apartment and then. Ack home to pack and get some sleep. \240What a day - felt very satisfy on how much we managed to see. \240Absolutely love Rome and could easily spend a week or more soaking up this rich city.

We got up early to finish off packing, sorted lunch boxes and make breakfast. \240I went for a quick walk but didn’t have the time for a long one like I hoped.

Healing update - looking so good with some time out of the water. \240Scabbin g over nicely.

Healing update - looking so good with some time out of the water. \240Scabbing over nicely.

Off to the train terminal and on to train bound for Pisa. \240It was 2.5 hours of frustration and challenges across the board. \240We just hadn’t prepared ourselves for the kids to watch a movie together and so was relying on the internet which was crap so that lead to frustration and crazy behaviour which then just created a vicious circle of us telling them off and then doing more 😬🤯😓

A moment of silence but you can tell by Jays face that he has had enough! \240

Finally we arrived in Pisa in one piece. \240We stored our luggage and started our walk to the tower.

We stopped on the way at a great little place for lunch which helped to refuel. \240

A meltdown and plenty of whinging we made it to The Tower of Pisa - pretty cool and a must see but the surrounding town was non eventful. \240

After a much needed ice coffee (which was actually a really good one) and the boys all had ice cream we headed back to the train station (via cab this time). \240We then made a hilarious run through the train station up and down stairs to the wrong platform and then finally running into our train just in time with the boys yelling “we can make it”! \240

After a short 30min journey we arrived to Lucca. \240We got a can into our Air BNB which was in the city walls and on a very narrow “Main Street”.

Mum hadn’t heard back from the host who was supposed to meet us so we were all assuming she would be there. \240We soon realised that we had no way of contacting her, the owners who lived in Australia would be in bed. \240After the day we had we knew we all didn’t have much left in the bank patient wise. \240The kids were on edge but we managed to all keep our calm whilst we sat on the sidewalk with all our luggage and tried to figure out what to do.

Just as we were about to book another Air BnB property our host arrived. \240Phew! \240We piled up the stairs (always stairs) and were so so grateful to get into this absolutely stunning Air BNB.

Worth the wait! \240

A quick settle in and off to dinner we went. \240The location of this place couldn’t be better - and Lucca at first glance is dreamy to say the least. \240Tiny little lane ways with beautiful shops, cafes, restaurants and gelato.

We had a lovely dinner - both the boys definitely setting into good Italian food. \240Harveys Fish n Chips has been replaced by Pizza and Noah’s burger replaces by spaghetti bolognaise. \240

We made it! \240All smiles after a trying day but nothing really could be that bad when you are in Italy! \240❤️

Woke up and got moving this morning - off for a walk. \240However it started sprinkling when I left and I needed to go the toilet and by the time I weaved around town to find a toilet I ended up just walking back to the apartment!! Definitely could feel a change in temperature with the little bit of rain.

It didn’t last long and the skies cleared and sun came out. \240After breakfast we set out to climb the tower opposite our apartment. \240We wanted to be there for the morning bells (which by the way have a very different system here that we are yet to fully work out!!)

We got up just in time for the bells and to soak up more stunning views of Lucca.

We then had a little shop around - the boys spending money, wanting more guns (🙄) whinging because they don’t have enough money, agitating each other - so we did divide and conquer once again and I spent the time Noah needed to sort out it his head that he didn’t have enough for everything! \240He settled with some binoculars.

A bit drained we sent the kids back with Mum and Dad to watch a movie and have left overs for lunch while Jay and I went out for lunch for some much needed alone time.

After lunch we had a walk around the town before heading back to pick everyone up for gelato. \240

After gelato we wanted to show the kids we found a cool tunnel. \240One the way the found a merry go round.

We headed back home via a G&T stop and an early dinner for the kids. \240Mum and Dad headed out on their own for dinner and Jay and I stayed and got kids into bed early (although Noah struggled) and we packed and did some work. \240

A busker played in the street below the most beautiful music that filled the apartment. \240It was so moving and the perfect end to our stay in romantic Lucca ❤️

I woke early and sat with a quiet cuppa listening to the gentle hustle on the streets below. \240I intended to get out and walk the 4km loop around the city wall but got lost in the slow morning. \240Noah got up and went straight into LEGO mode and Mum and Dad were working. \240The kids “make themselves at home” at any chance they get - I think it’s their attempt to feel secure and have consistency in amongst the travelling. \240Harvey has a massive sleep in which was great.

Our gorgeous room. \240The windows in each room and so beautiful with their grand shutters.

Jay and I went out and got some pastries and coffee while the others were in their zone.

After a very slow morning (which was much needed) we finally got out. \240I’m loving the tempo here - a good contrast to the last couple of big days. \240

Gorgeous art, architecture and just humming streets with people but no cars makes for a certain silence that is so peaceful. \240

We decided to hire a trolley bike to do the city wall perimeter. \240Mum wouldn’t have done a bike so it was a great solution. \240

We stopped for a ice coffee and more pastries! \240

After we finished the tour we headed into the Piazza dell’Anfiteatro famous for it’s beautiful yellow washed buildings. \240We had a delicious lunch - Harvey ordering a plate of prosciutto and salami!

We then headed back to the house for some down time before off for some delicious gelato. \240

Mum headed back and Jay and the kids and I headed to climb the Tower Guinigi which has an oak tree growing on the top. \240

So many stairs and such a great lookout. \240

After our tower climb we headed back to the apartment to get ready for dinner. \240

Dad has been helping redirect the boys constant requests to buy things by empowering them to understand how to generate money so that they can buy things. \240He has said for every piece of rubbish they collect he will give them 10 cents. \240So they madly scan the streets for rubbish. \240Luckily here in Lucca there is a rubbish bin every 10-15meters so they don’t have to gather big handfuls. \240

For dinner we headed back to the Piazza. \240It was very romantic with beautiful music being played by a busker, a proposal a few tables away which had everyone in tears and the kids played around the piazza. \240Harvey was determined to find friends but the language barrier was proving difficult. \240He got rejected out of misunderstanding a couple of times which was heartbreaking to watch but he kept persisting until finally they had a game of chasey. \240

The atmosphere was so beautiful 😍

Off home to bed after a wonderful day ❤️. Absolutely loving Lucca 🙏

Up early to pack up food and lunch boxes before headed to the train station. \240We decided to get a cab rather than drag all our luggage through the cobble streets. \240We got there with plenty of time for coffee and more pastries!

More prepared for our 3 \240hour train trip today - we surrendered to screen time from the beginning!

Glimpses of the beautiful countryside - not that the kids noticed!

We arrived into the Venice train station closest to our Air BNB. \240It was very basic but we weren’t fussed as were only there for one night. \240We had some lunch near by and then headed on the bus into Venice. \240The surrounds of Venice are nothing special but once you hit the island you get a sense of the magic that is weaved into the canals.

Our boat took us over to the island of Murano first. \240It is home to glass blowing and we were hoping to show the boys.

We managed to get a sneak peak of one workshop in action.

Then it was cake and coffee time!

Back on the boat and over to Venice itself.

WOW! \240Surreal to be here - it truly is something out of a fairy tale.

We weaved away through the main attractions and got all the pics! \240Then it was time for dinner and we settled in to a restaurant on the Grand Canal with views of the Rialto Bridge. \240Seriously dreamy! \240

Mum and Dad then made the trek back to our apartment and left Jay and I to do the gondola ride on our own which was so lovely.

The true Venice experience ❤️❤️

🙏 Gratitude to be able to see these magical places. \240So glad we did the Italian leg with Mum and Dad ❤️

Up and packed and ready for our car transfer to Pula, Croatia! \240

Mum was hoping we could have got a ferry however they weren’t available on the date we needed so a car transfer was next best thing.

Again we settled for screen time to make the trip enjoyable for all. \240We are so grateful for Dave and Kylie for the download movies which like the pram the lines us has saved our arse countless times!!!

A brief snippet and pass through Slovenia and then it was into Croatia.

Smooth 4 hours and lovely views and so easy being door to door service. \240We dropped our bags at the apartments and then headed out to explore.

First stop some lunch where we all had massive portions of salad, calamari and pasta. \240Getting our heads around a new language and currency - so far neither are as easy as Italian or Spanish.

Pula has a colosseum as well - slightly smaller than Rome! \240Very pretty overlooking the ocean. \240

Dads staph infection seemed to be fleeing up and he went off to see if he could see ABs incase he decided to use them while on the boat. \240

We got ice cream and ice coffees and strolled around the water front with two highly agitated boys. \240Even Mums patient is wearing thin on both of them now 😳🤦‍♀️

This photo is of 4 frustrated adults with one defiant 4 year old insisting the world revolves around him and his way! \240

We persisted and made our way up to the castle - despite Noah insisting on “no lore castes”! \240

This one was extra cool as it has tunnels that were used in the war to keep locals safe and also house some prisoners. \240

Noah has been asking Poppa to take him on an electric scooter the whole trip. \240So Dad finally found one and downloaded the app and then we couldn’t get it to work - so this is Noah face of disappointment 😩

It had been a long day so we settled for a G&T out and then take away pizza and left overs at home on our terrace. \240

Tomorrow is boat day 🙌🙌🙌

Last sunrise on the boat. \240Feeling sad to say goodbye. \240No time for a walk as it was breakfast and pack up time to get off by 9am. \240

Thanks Ocean King 3 and Jerko for such an epic week. \240Most grateful 🙏❤️

A short 20 min cab ride with the gorgeous Delorious and we arrived at Park Plaza Istria. \240Beautiful hotel - although our spoilt children turned the nose at the pool! \240We later realised there were more than one pool on offer to us on the grounds. \240The little island cluster of hotels were all linked and had a lovely promenade walk around.

We dropped our bags while our room was still getting ready and headed to check out the pool and the rock pools.

The boys found another couple of boys who were fishing but again the language barrier was too much to overcome. \240They got their hand reels out but had no luck so it was back up to the pool to search for skinks!

After lunch Jay and I met up with the ABC instructors Ben and Sam’s kids - Arlo and a Alby. \240They were with a nanny while Sam and Ben taught the seminar.

We all headed to play some mini golf but found it to be very run down and so settled for an afternoon swim at the beach and another turn on the Inflatable Playground. \240Harvey got to have a turn this time and jumped off from the top! \240

Great hotel with quite a lot on offer - a lot more than we realised and if we were staying longer we would have made the most of it. \240We still had a delightful day.

After showers we got to meet up with the chiros from the seminar for a quick drink before they headed out. \240Was lovely to see some more of Emma and she kindly took the boys for a swim while we had a drink with Adrian, Victoria and Nic ❤️. Crazy that we come half way around the world to catch up with chiros from Auckland’

Dad headed out with the other chiros and Mum, Jay and I had a lovely dinner in the hotel complex. \240We also found the best gelato so far \240❤️

Noah slept in with Mum and Dad which made for a smoother bed time for all.

Shame we only have one night here and hard to believe tomorrow we say goodbye to Mum and Dad 😢

I got up early to make the most of this place and soak up the full moon in the morning light plus get to hang out with Emma ❤️

We had a lovely walk around the promenade. \240Rain again last night and threats for it again today. \240Mornings are colder but the days are still more than pleasant at 23-26.

After an awesome buffet breakfast which Moah exclaimed loudly “this is so much better than the last place”! \240We headed off to the airport with our trusty cab driver Dolorious. \240Mum and Dad checked in and then came to bid us farewell in our rental car.

What an amazing time with so many priceless memories made with them. \240So so grateful they joined us - I’m sure they had moments with our two little monkeys - but they are ever so patient and loving to us all.

We hit the road bound for Plitvice Lakes.

Stunning countryside and over the hills it turned very lush. \240

Kids both zonked out after watching movies. We stopped in a little restaurant on the side of the road for lunch. \240Sometimes the Croatian manner is hard to read just how welcome you are! \240

A few google map moments later we made it to our little cabin in the village of Kerona.

Cute as a button with no fancy trimmings but a whole lot of love. \240The host Milan - an elderly local and his wife lovennext door and welcomed us. \240Limited English but enough to direct us to the back of the property to the lake. \240The kids loved meeting their dog and three cats.

We took his advice and packed out togs and headed to the “lake”. \240We were t sure how far to go - the stream appears to have dried up over summer and so the first pond we came t wasn’t very desirable. \240Jay led the way and we kept going and just as well as about 600m from the house was this dreamy little waterfall and pond.

A very fresh swim and some basking in the last of the days sun. \240So special and aside from a local man having a fish there we had it all to ourselves. \240

We headed back for a home cooked meal with some Veges!!! \240Feeling depleted from our greens in take.

A definite contrast from the Croatia we have seen so far. \240Away from the coast but still the crystal clear water. \240The forest surrounding us feels so nourishing and a slight chill in the air tonight. \240Looking forward to tomorrow and seeing these famous lakes.

We had breakfast and headed out by 9am to explore the Plitvice National Parks.

On arrival we were surprised how many people were there. \240It was packed. \240We had decided on the route we would take the night before. \240The park is separated into three main sections and we chose the 3-4 hour route.

You start at the top of the middle of the park and you walk down into the terraced lakes.

The clarity of the water is absolutely stunning. \240The boys were quickly memorised with playing spot the fishes. \240Without this game it would have made the day very long I think! \240

First stop was the largest waterfall in the park. \240It was impressive but I was more taken by all the lakes.

From there we slowly made our way back up the terrace lakes towards the boat port.

The boat then took us from one section to another. \240We could have continued to walk around the lake but this way we didn’t push the boys too much and ultimately got to see more.

We stopped at here for some lunch before catching the boat over to section 3. \240

This was by far my favourite section. \240We intended to only do this small portion of it but decided to push through at walk all the way to the top of section 3 which would have meant we covered all the park.

We made it and were able to get the shuttle back to the car park. \240it was such an awesome adventure with unbelievable sights. \240The boys did well - Harvey only needing a few carries.

We got back to the house and grabbed a jug of G&T and the boys grabbed their fishing gear and we headed to our pond. \240

Such a beautiful day soaking up nature and the wonders of this beautiful country

❤️🙏🙌

This is the bridge that we travelled on from the house up to the main road. \240It was so rickity and hard to believe we could drive over it. \240Every plank shuddered when we drove over it! \240

Up early, quick workout, breakfast and a pack up before hitting the road by 9am. \240Destination back to the Coast - Split.

Lots of tunnels and changing of the landscape dramatic once you hit the mountains.

Dry and barren again with the bright blue water.

We pulled into Sibenik for lunch as we were making good time. \240Another cute little harbour town.

We dropped the rental car off at Split airport and then waited for our host of the apartment to pick us up. \240We should have just got our own way as we waited almost an hour and the boys had well and truly had it (as had Jay and I) by then. \240Just one of those travel days! \240

We made it to our very very basic apartment in Split. \240The location was great - close enough to a beach and old town but we did really go budget intentionally so we could spend more money on a lush hotel in Hvar.

We headed to the beach which was average - goes to show how spoilt we have been. \240It was quite windy and the temperature has certainly shifted so nice enough sitting in the sun but the water wasn’t overly inviting.

The boys were happy with what they considered sand for the first time in a while.

After a dip and a play we headed around to one of the many restaurants for dinner.

And ice cream of course! \240

Lovely sunset - I was feeling a little ho-hum about Split in comparison to where we have been but look forward to exploring tomorrow.

Apartment may be average (as no sink in the bathroom, musty smelling sheets and a haphazard kitchen) how ever the view out the window was gorgeous and a great place to sit with my morning tea.

We headed down town with two very grumpy boys. \240So committed to fishing at the moment that they thought of more sightseeing was like a death semtence! \240

We managed to get some motivation at the map by challenging a game to explore the old town and off we went.

And an opportunity to get a photo with some Gladiators kept the motivation going.

After a reasonably quick walk through Old Town we got on a bus and headed to the beach. \240

Beautiful beach nestled amongst the pine, cliffs and more clear water.

Boys happy finding tiny little fish that had washed up on shore (not sure why) and more rocks to explore crab hunting.

We had some lunch at the beach cafe which was quite cool.

The kids were happy playing on the beach and so we soaked up the day. \240Happily having our Hapoy Hour in the best spot ❤️

Back into town we headed into the Old Town and found a gorgeous restaurant for dinner. \240Going to miss this special backdrops.

One more search for fish and crabs before heading home. \240Was a wonderful day and ready to head out to the islands tomorrow ❤️

We headed down to the ferry terminal in the drizzling rain - hoping the forecast isn’t accurate as it says expect rain for the next week! \240

We ran into Victoria and Nick at the terminal took which was lovely to catch up again.

Settled on the ferry at off to Bol!

We arrived to the cutest little port and only a “short” walk up to our apartment. \240But UP was the key word and bless Jay and his body lugging all the suitcases up the many many stairs. \240Noah did more than his fair share as wel and Harvey - well Harvey carried nothing but whinged and cried the whole way. \240Bol knows we are here 😳

After dropping our bags and having a sneak peak of our new place (stunning 🙌🙌) we headed woth fish net in hand back to the port to have and explore. \240The temperature quite mild so we didn’t take togs.

We found our first Asian fusion restaurant in awhile for lunch which was a nice change. \240The boys content with a good crab hunt. \240We headed back up to The Island Palace. \240

So happy with this place. \240The finishes are very our style, so clean and fresh in comparison to Split and sensational views.

The boys settled in and we all unpacked - it’s nice knowing we are here for four nights. \240

I did a workout and the boys headed down to the local beach. \240I came down after and found this gorgeous little bay with the monastery in the background.

The luscious pines are such a gorgeous contrast to the rocks and the water.

Back home and the boys had an awesome time in the bath while I enjoyed cooking in the nicest kitchen we have had for awhile.

Left over spaghetti Bol from Noah’s last two lunches and some packet ravioli for the win.

Feels so amazing to be here ❤️

We have declared today as a Noah LED Day! \240So he has asked for a walk with Mum, fishing, play on water park, swim and fishing. \240

So off we go!!!

I do love our morning walks together as he is in his chatty calm Noah mode. \240We talked about fishing mostly and all the things he can catch when he gets a rod 😍

We went home and had breakfast then packed up all the gear for the day. \240It was cloudy and cooler again but we were hopeful and brought togs and towels.

We set up at the port and the boys soon made friends with a local boy who was fishing with his grandfather. \240They had caught some octopus earlier and were using it for bait. \240They shared some with the boys and the little fish started coming in. \240Noah was so excited. \240He wanted to release his back but we decided to give them to the little boy in exchange for the bait. \240They were keeping them to eat. \240

Noah then proudly caught a “big fish”. \240He wanted to release him but the hook got stuck in his throat and so the grandpa vit it open to get the hook. \240Noah’s face “sorry buddy”. \240They kept him as well and hopefully ate him as well.

Noah then requested a hot dog for lunch and then the boys sat with us while we had a yummy salad and pizza. \240

We then walked along the promenade which was so beautiful. \240Pine pine pine trees ❤️

Waterpark was spotted and that was next on the list. \240Harvey didn’t last as long as it was a bit more tricky. \240He snuggled with me on the beach and had a sleep.

We then soaked up the sun on the famous White Horn Beach before heading back to our house.

Nibbles and G&Ts on the deck overlooking the beautiful sunset. \240

Another home cooked meal and such a wonderful day ... thanks Noah ❤️

Oh my pinch me - cup of tea with this morning light ✨❤️

Well today is Harvey LED day and following in brothers footsteps he asked to come for my morning walk as well - the funny thing is he hates waking!!!

But off we went and we got 10min in before the whinging started! \240How ever we pushed through and walked around down the monastery and the hotel that was abandoned after the Baltic War.

This hotel is so fascinating. \240It’s on prime real estate. \240After the war in the 90’s it was used to house refugees and then when they left it was left to detoriate. \240

Apparently now the monks from the monastery are preventing redevelopment as they claim it is their land. \240

So it lies empty but also home to street art. \240Once a year they have a week festival where artists come from all over and coat the walls with a fresh coat of their art.

Back home, breakfast and then on with Harvey’s day. \240You guessed it - fishing was first! \240The sun out earlier today and few a warmth in the air. \240It was actually quite hot fishing and Harvey doesn’t have the same level as patience as Noah so as soon as Noah is done he was happy to move on. \240

We walked back along the promenade. \240I got a delicious ice coffee from a little food van. \240Harvey requested a turn on the little quad bikes.

We then went back to the food van for lunch - I had a yummy salad and Noah an amazing burger.

We then headed back home to drop off all our stuff and then down to our local beach. \240It was a gorgeous afternoon down there

Managed a G&T on the beach before heading back to the house for dinner.

During the sunset a beautiful rain shower came over and it made for a most impressive and forever changing sunset.

A game of I Found It to end the night and to end another beautiful day on Bol. \240Tomorrow Noah and I are going to attempt the mountain! \240

Noah struggles going to sleep last night so I happily had a cup of tea and soaked up the view and let him sleep longer.

We had a quick breakfast and packed our gear and headed to the mountain - Vidova Gora.

It is a 10km return to the top so I wasn’t sure how much we would do. \240It also was almost 2km just to get to the start of the trail.

Noah was chatty chatty but as we got to the start of the trail was already second guessing (now doubt he was picking up on my hesitations). \240It was hard to tell where we were heading and what was the end point which does nothing for your motivation.

At the start of the trail we came across these dogs - there were probably 4-5 in a little “house” and one came out to say Hi. \240He looked apprehensive and was keen for our attention. \240He got Noah’s heart and Noah was very concerned of the dogs safety. \240

Discussion of the dog and what we could do to help continued all the way up the mountain. \240He wanted to turn back at times to check on them and cal the shelter. \240

We pushed on and the hike itself was a good combination of switch backs and areas of incline. \240We eventually wrapped around the back of the mountain we were climbing and could start to see our destination. \240We also came across a gorgeous Aussie couple who encouraged us with “almost there and it’s well worth it”. \240Noah also discussed the dogs with them and they said they had seen them and felt they were in fact ok which allowed Noah to relax a little.

Following the target to know we are on track.

We made it! \240Well we made it to the first lookout - the official lookout was still 20 min walk along the ridge but we decided after 2 hours we had done our dash! \240The views were amazing and I was so proud of my little mate.

The final lookout in the distance.

You can see over to Hvar and then beyond that I’m the far distance is Italy.

After a snack and some celebratory chocolate we headed back down with a new spring in our step.

One happy boy to be back with his little buddy and giving him more cuddles and making sure he was ok.

We then headed to meet Harvey and Jay. \240It was another 2km walk into town so we did well over 10km all up I’d say. \240I certainly was ready for lunch and a sit down.

We went back to the food van for ice coffee and burgers before hitting the beach.

It was a gorgeous afternoon on the beach - less wind and decent heat.

More rock pool explores.

Noah pointing to the Vidova Gora mountain 🏔

We ended the day with cocktails on the beach and watching the amazing kite surfers get massive air as the wind came up at the end of the day. \240

Back home for more G&Ts and another home cooked meal.

Soaking up every last drop of this magical day. \240Reluctantly packed tonight in preparation to leave tomorrow 😩❤️

Sore body this morning after massive hike yesterday. \240I felt so sad packing up and leaving our Island Palace behind. \240

The boys got one more fish and explore at the port while we waited for our boat to Hvar. \240

By Bol! \240I actually had a tear as we sailed off. \240There was a lot of magic in that town and I’m sure the rest of Brac had a lot to see. \240It wa a lovely to jave some quieter days in one place. \240The boys really enjoyed it too. \240They have started asking when we are going home now - they are ready whereas Jay and I feel we could keep going with ease.

Arriving into Hvar and we spotted the Hotel Amfora where we are staying. \240On arrival you could tell Hvar was a lot more posh then Bol was. \240The Noosa of the Sunshine Coast! \240

We made our way from the Port following Google Maps to our hotel which was only 14 min walk. \240Again the stairs nailed poor Jay and set Harvey off into whinge and whine mode whilst Noah steps up into helpful mode. \240It’s almost comical 🙄

We finally made it only to be greeted by the bellboy saying “didn’t you see our luggage transfer service at port?” And you didn’t follow google maps did you? \240Apparently our route took us up al the stairs and up the hill around the ridge to the hotel where we could have got off the boat and walked 10 min around the flat promenade 🤣😩

The view of the hotel and the pool quickly erased the stress of the adventure getting there! \240

We got to down to the pool and settled in for the day. \240Had lunch and lazed in our chairs.

Another great ice coffee ... I’m on a roll!

Almost filled healed over! \240

Noah and I went for a walk while Harvey had a sleep. \240He had a great time on the adult outdoor gym. \240

Back to the pool and then back to settle into our room. \240I did a workout while the boys had a play with their soldiers. \240

We headed out to dinner along the promenade and into the port. \240Lovely atmosphere with lots going on.

We had a lovely dinner in the square - the wind was cool though and felt quite chilly once we got home.

Snuggled into bed ❤️

Woke up and headed out for a walk along the promenade. \240I headed to the right away from the town and walked to the end. \240You can tell how busy this place would be in the height of summer. \240It’s quite nice to be here at this time but the one downside is the weather is certainly cooler. \240

I went back to the room and then picked up the boys and went down to the gym as they wanted to “workout”.

Back to the room and had breakfast before heading out for a walk. \240My tummy was feeling a little uneasy and I was tired. \240The boys wanted to have a fish so we headed down to the port and found a spot where they had seen some local women catching some fish last night.

While they fished I went for a walk around the town and a little look at the shops.

Another gorgeous little village.

After that and Noah’s success of catching another “big fish”! \240We headed back to the hotel pool and parked there for the rest of the day. \240I was still feeling average and was content lying down all day and drifting in and out of sleeps. \240Harvey fell asleep on the rocks and Noah’s as content playing on the waterslide.

We went for another crab search along the rocks and I had a sleep in the sun while the boys searched.

The boys were mesmerised by the large tuna that was being filleted at a restaurant as we walked back to the hotel..

We headed back to the room and I had a hot shower and got into bed leaving the boys to go out for dinner on their own.

I was going whatever I was feeling was not going to progress to much. \240Off to Dubrovnik tomorrow.

Was happy to wake feeling brighter today. \240Still low energy but not any worse.

We enjoyed our last buffet breakfast with a view and packed up our room and headed into the port. \240This time making good use of the free luggage transfer service! \240

We had plenty of time so was able to soak up more of Hvar before getting on the ferry.

The \2404 hour ferry had a few stops on the way to Dubrovnik. \240Teasers for places to visit on our next trip. \240The boys settled in to watching movies and I caught up on this.

We arrived in Dubrovnik and got a transfer to our Aur BNB thinking we had dodged for once the intense trek with all our luggage. \240Once we got dropped off and turned the corner to see the height of the staircase we had to climbed we realised a mission seems to be envitetable 😜. 90 something stairs later and a tired whinging Harvey we made it to our cute little air BNB.

As always the views make the climb all worth it. \240

We dropped our things and headed down to the beach to soak up the last of the days sun. \240Beautiful Banje Beach which is right opposite our apartment. \240

From the beach we headed straight to get an early dinner - once the sun goes down the temperature is certainly dropping with the addition of a wind that we have felt the last few days. \240

After dinner we wandered through the old town and the boys got ice cream (it was to chilly for me).

We made our way back and put the tired boys to bed. \240

Despite my hesitation to spend three nights here - first impressions of Dubrovnik is dramatic and beautiful.

Slow morning and I still didn’t have a lot of energy so didn’t head out for a walk. \240

The wind was up and felt chilly so we took our time having breakfast before heading in to the old town to walk the city wall.

The wall was most impressive. \240The views from up top along with me trying to visualise the construction process and the all that the walls had witnessed through the years is overwhelming. \240

We took about an hour to walk the entire perimeter. \240The sun warmed up as we went and the views were stunning. \240

We then wandered through Old Town crabbing somensnacks along the way.

Delicious pastry treat - different flavours cheese, cheese and leek, cheese and spinach and cheese and veal. \240Moorish. \240

We then made our way down to one of the Game of Thrones look outs. \240The boys met some lovely ladies from Sam Fransisco who were “beach combing” for treasures. \240They soon joined in and found some gorgeous stones and pieces of old tiles.

After that we headed home to get our beach gear and for something different the boys wanted to crab and fish!

We went back to Banje Beach and spent the afternoon fishing, swimming and finding more treasures.

The boys got lost in play as they built a “fire” and cooked shrimps and Jay and I had an afternoon drink and soaked up some unusual silence!

We headed back and got changed and then went into the Old Town for dinner. \240It was a lovely meal. \240Starting to feel emotional about the trip coming to the end - soaking up every last moment and filled with gratitude for it all.

Another slow start and another morning with no walk for me. \240Have felt a bit blah since the tummy thing in Hvar and body asking for slower days.

Got these beautiful shots of the beach across from our apartment - I’m hoping they will be able to be framed for our house.

Noah’s request was kayaking and we had read about some cute bays that you can kayak around to.

We headed back to where we went yesterday and that way we could kayak past the old town wall and back towards our accomodation.

The wind was up again and so parts of the journey to the cave was a bit hectic for Noah and I. \240Jay and Harvey (well Jay because Harvey was certainly taking it easy) powered ahead leaving Noah and I to dodge the incoming board and ferries as we made our way across the harbour 😜🤣

All the effort was well and truly worth it when we arrived at the gorgeous (but far from secluded) cave.

The kids had a great play (another fire building mission) and a goggle as Noah calls it (swimming with goggles to explore for fish).

We headed back and thankfully the wind had died down and it was a much smoother run - so much so that Harvey had a sleep. \240He is getting good at falling asleep in random places!

We grabbed some lunch and headed to the port to jump on a ferry over to the island which is directly opposite Dubrovnik. \240No one lives on the island but it has a few cafes, a monastery and plenty of peacocks (that were introduced to the island by an explorer at some stage).

We had a wander around, the boys sat on the Game of Thrones throne (I have no idea as I haven’t seen it).

Then we hit the rocks to you guessed it, search for crabs and fish. \240

This is a salt lake that was formed after an earthquake. \240Gorgeous clear water true to all things Croatia.

Then it was back to have ice cream and wait for the boat.

We had afternoon drinks at our place soaking up the view before heading out for our last dinner in Croatia 😭

We found a gorgeous little restaurant in the center of the Old Town and a busker was doing a fire show which absolute captivated the boys. \240Harvey was mesmerised, clapping away and claims of \240“best day ever”! \240

It was a perfect way to finish what has been a sensational 3 weeks exploring this most beautiful country. \240I feel so sad to leave tomorrow and hope to return again one day. \240

Up to soak up one last sunrise but I didn’t manage a walk - instead just watched from the window. \240

We got an airport transfer at 8am and drove up the coast the 30 min to the airport. \240Looking back along the cliff to Dubrovnik you realise the height of the city. \240As you drove you are hugging the border to Bosnia and the taxi driver pointed out houses that were affected by bombs in the 1990s. \240

Smooth check in, smooth flight. \240Arrived at Gatwick and got the train to Paddington and then home to 44a Shakespearnonce again. \240It was so weird walking through the doors - oddly familiar - like coming home in a weird way and also the reminder that we had been gone in Europe for so long! \240The season has well and truly changed in London with leaves falling and signs of autumn. \240

The boys settled back in quickly - a sign that they too felt like it was a coming home. \240Harvey has been counting the days now for the last week and it will be interesting if the need to go home to Auckland will be as high on the list now that we are here.

It was lovely to be back and feel more grounded - we had a chilled afternoon and quickly popped out to get the twins a birthday present for their party tomorrow and then a lovely home cooked meal with Brad. \240

Up and off for a walk with Lisa while the boys went off with Guinness. \240So nice to have her here in London too. \240It was a chilly morning ... summer has gone 😩

Home for breakfast with everyone and then we headed off for the birthday party! \240The kids were so excited to see Jaeger, Quinn and Makenzie again. \240It was also great to great up with Adam, Emily and Betsy and Gareth, Denise and Sienna. \240

After the party it was off to the pub for lunch and drinks. \240They are a really fun bunch - always up for a party! \240

We dreamed ourselves away after plenty of Rose’s and headed home for homemade lasagna made by Lisa ❤️

Slower start this morning but out for a walk and then managed a work out before we all headed out to Hamstead to meet Ivan and Brenda for lunch. \240

So great to have some time with them over here and lovely to meet there son Nick. \240

After lunch we headed to Shepherds Bush to get the boys some new shoes. \240

Success! \240

After that we headed to Bryce and Tessas for a yummy roast dinner. \240

We were all knackered after a big day - walked home and straight to bed. \240

Up for a walk and breakfast and then we headed out to Liverpool Street. \240We were meeting Nichola for lunch but thought we would do some shopping first. \240Didn’t have much options for the kids so after some morning tea we ended up at the Museum of London. \240

It was actually really good. \240Both the boys were into it and as it talked about the Roman Empire era the kids were taken by gladiator talk and Roman soldiers. \240

It was the perfect way to kill an hour on a rainy London day.

We then had a lovely lunch and catch up with Nichola. \240It was so nice that she made the effort and I always value maintaining the connection with Verena and her family.

We stopped at Oxford St on the way home and had a quick look for Jay while the boys and I had afternoon tea. \240After that it was home for left overs and a quiet night which was lovely! \240

Up and out for a walk on my own this morning. \240Really holding on to each walk and moment here in London as I feel the days slip away.

This version of London is more familiar to me in the sense of weather and slightly grey. \240I love it.

I met the boys back at the park because Noah has been desperate to show me his drone flying skills.

Headed home and got ready for my ladies day with Kylie. \240I intended on heading in a lot earlier to get some shopping in but by the time I actually got to Oxford St it was almost 12pm. \240Still I managed to grab a few more new things before meeting her at the hotel in Mayfair just down the road from The Hard Rock.

We had a cream tea to start with bubbles. \240Followed by an hour in the spa, sauna and steam room. \240Then an hour treatment - body scrub and massage! \240

It was all blissful and we floated out of there 3 hours later and headed to the Ritz for a drink. \240A bloody expensive G&T but the experience was worth it! \240

We then wandered down to Trafalgar Square and it was such a beautiful night. \240We had a drink at a rooftop bar to soak up the views before settling in at an Italian restaurant nearby. \240

It was a lovely dinner and after a bottle of red, pasta and tiramisu I was done. \240Kylie on the other hand could have easily kept going but I got us in an Uber and home by midnight! \240

Woke a bit rusty this morning but made myself get out for a walk to brush off the cobwebs.

It was Jays turn for a day out and the boys all headed out for golf around 11am.

The boys took me back to the Indoor Climbing Wall that Jay had taken them to yesterday - they ended up spending most of the day there before heading over to Ads and Emily’s for dinner. \240

It was great fun and certainly a challenge. \240The boys absolutely loved showing me what was what! \240

We picked up a few things on the High Street (gee I love Brad’s High St) and then headed home to be ready for Kylie to come pick us up. \240Mer headed over to her house and the boys were in heaven playing with the toys and patiently waiting for the kids to all get home from school. \240

Kylie made dinner prep for tomorrow night and inspired from the other night I made my first tiramisu. \240

We stayed for dinner - Kylie made a delicious soup for us and of course wine! \240I dragged the kids and I into an Uber around 9pm despite Kylie’s best efforts on getting us to stay the night or at least stay till 10pm!!! \240My liver is getting a workout with Kylie around!

Again woke up feeling a bit rusty! \240The boys had a big night too - Dave ended up on Brads couch. \240

We headed off to walk Guinness and I had a walk with Lisa. \240

After breakfast we headed into Portobello Market for a walk around. We could have just as easily stayed at home but I just am so keen to make the most of every last day. \240

Back at home and I dropped the boys off to bowling with Dad and their crew and I headed to Kylie’s. \240She was still in getting ready mode so I just chilled on the couch. \240I tried to do a reel for Insta but ended up deleting it after about 30min effort 😩

The whole crew came over for an Italian feast. \240I didn’t get any pics of all of us though which is such a shame - just one of the kids. \240

It was a late one - we stayed over and the kids went to bed about 11pm. \240I followed suit but the others stayed up chatting and drinking. \240So nice for Jay to have this time with them. \240

I woke up early and had a quiet tea on the couch. Wishing I brought my walking gear!

The boys emerged around 8:30 and got ready for football training which Dave and Jay took them too.

Kylie and Kenzie got yo and we started making some breakfast for the crew.

The kids were having such a great time and Kylie was keen for us all to stay. \240Jay needed to get back to Brads and do some work and Inhad arranged to meet up with Aaron Roughan so we left the kids for the day with Kylie.

I walked from Brads to Portibello Road - loving every second of it!!! \240It was so amazingly special to catch up with Aaron after over 10 years. \240I also got to meet Elija - Siobhan’s son. \240

We had a lovely afternoon chatting at a cafe then walking into Holland Park. \240Such a beautiful greens space and playground which I wish I had brought the boys to. \240

I then found my way home after Jaybhad picked the boys up and we headed out to the High St for our final dinner. \240The kids were almost falling asleep at the table so we headed home out they in bed and then tackled the massive job of packing!!!

I can’t believe how much stuff we have collected - thankfully Jay is such a whiz at packing and always speeds up the dreaded process. \240Felt good going to bed knowing that our last day tomorrow didn’t have to include packing. \240

The day has arrived. \240Back in June when we arrived and I thought about this day it was too far to even consider and worry about. \240It’s so hard to believe we are here! \240It seems like a life time we arrived but also feels like the trip went too fast.

We got up and headed out for the last walk with Guinness and I kept going for my last walk. \240I ended up all the way down along the Thames and back to Chiswick High St to meet up with the boys and Tessa and Flynn. \240

It was a beautiful walk and I had some little pep talks to myself about reframing the leaving and “going back to reality”. \240This whole trip has been reality. \240Reality doesn’t have to be heavy or dull and we aren’t going back - we can’t go back after everything we have seen and experienced we can only move forward on to the next amazing adventure. \240I might feel sad that I don’t have clarity over what that next adventure is but one thing is for sure I have full trust in Jay and I and the boys to create and find it. \240

After a gorgeous brunch we walked back home to Brads. \240Noah and I headed to the shops to get one last gift for India ❤️

The boys have so much love for Guinness and are going to miss him so much.

Back home I got a workout in before we showered and headed for lunch. \240We attempted to get Harvey to sleep on the couch but no he refused and then promptly fell asleep in my arms while I carried his dead weight to the bus.

Our final lunch at a pub in Ealing with Bryce, Tessa, Flynn, Guinness, the Kybuks and Brad and Lisa. \240A few more glasses of rose than I planned and a emotional goodbye. \240All the kids were hugging and quite cute at saying goodbye. \240Jay and I feeling very glum that it’s over.

Back to Brad’s to do the final pack before he dropped at us at the train station. \240I held back the tears as we left and I knew Jay was sad. \240In a weird way it felt as if the trip was cut short, we just didn’t feel ready to go. \240

Smooth train ride to Heathrow and before we knew it we were checked in.

The kids deposited the last of their energy at a playground which we traded for a lounge visit knowing it was much better to tire them out. \240

On the flight to Singapore they both did so well sleeping almost 8 hours each. \240

Once in Singapore we spent our four hour lay over walking to Terminal 2 getting some food and then we headed to the pool. \240It was just what we needed to refresh and get us ready for the last leg.

Always looking for fish!

Harvey doing his naps in random places again. \240Not ideally right before we got back on the plane but he still managed to settle in to another 2 hours sleep on the final leg. \240Noah on the other hand ate so much and watched so many movies with no sleep 😬

We arrived and into Poppa Greggs arms and home to Pam making our beds and adding touches to make us feel at home.

The boys were straight into the backyard weeding and raking 🤷‍♀️😂 \240Jay and I littered around aimlessly and made our way towards dinner and bed.

It feels weird to say the least. \240Sad a bit ho-hum and boringly familiar. \240

We will see what a new day feels like! \240

🙏 For the trip of a life time with our little Nutty Bunch

❤️ For Jay for being the best travelling partner I could dream of

✨ To what else is possible for us

We are home and I feel the need to sum it all up.

But how do you sum up the past 108 days, exploring 7 countries, reconnecting friendships that span 20 plus years?!?

We travelled in planes, trains, a Campervan, a Catamran, ferries, boats, buses, the tube, Ubers, bikes, trams and cars and only one delayed flight, one fast train that turned into a slow train, a few grinnded gears, a lost side mirror on the Campervan and a scrape to a rental car.

We (mainly Harvey) endured one hospital visit, a tummy bug and health expression or two, and “tired leg syndrome” often!

There was Growth. Awe. Wonder. JOY. Laughter.

There also was “Are we there yet”, “can I have it”, “how much is it”, “do I have enough”, I want it”, “Pleeeeaaaasssee”.

We had blissful solo morning walks. \240Whinge filled walks. \240Dog walks. \240Wonder filled walks through towns, cities, parks and up mountains. \240Sweaty hot sticky walks. \240Fast walks (aka running) to catch trains. \240Bucket list golf course walks. \240Long relentless walks up stairs dripping with sweat and laden with luggage trying to find the next Air BNB.

We drank G&T. \240Free pour, goblet glass, plastic kids cup in a RV, on the beach, at the Ritz, sometimes plain with lemon sometimes fancy always refreshing and before 6pm.

We frequented patisseries for croissants plain, chocolate, almond and maybe a danish to mix it up.

Gelato - once in Europe, gelato everyday! \240Mint choc chip, lemon sorbet, rum & raisin and stracciatella were the favs.

The boys fished and crabbed from Cornwall to Croatia. \240“Pick up the crab Harvey”, “guys it’s a BIG fish”, hours and hours of exploring, searching, enticing, reeling in, throwing out, excitement, disappointment and joyful happiness.

There was dog love with Guinness, Butch, Xander, Betsy, Perry, and daily random “excuse me, can I pat your dog” moments leading to chats and meetings of beautfiul strangers.

Harvey napped in the most weird and wonderful places.
We had parenting highs and parenting LOWS.
We put too much faith in google maps.

Our hearts were warmed by strangers.

We met new friends, reconnected with old friends, we bumped into friends.

We relished in the history surrounding us, we were wowed by the architecture, we learnt more about the past.

We were captivated by Mother Nature, time and time again.

We celebrated three birthdays and a wedding anniversary.

Forever memories, forever grateful.

“Best day of my life” N&H

“That was my favourite place” Ali after every place

“I’m sad to leave” Jay

Thank you, Dank je wel, Gràcia, Grazie, Hva-la for sharing your beauty, your culture and your people with us.

We are beyond grateful to this trip for all that it has added to our lives. \240Tears of gratitude. \240.

On to the next adventure we go …and always making sure It’s Allnutt’s X
