Day one, we left home and headed northeast over the mountains towards the desert. As this was a journey of exploration, we saw something interesting on the map, the route 66 Museum! We pulled off the highway, parked, closed.
By the time it opened, we were 150 miles down the road.
To get over our shocking disappointment, we immediately headed for Baker, California, and the world‘s tallest thermometer. Luckily the thermometers don’t close.
With a long drive ahead of us with the long drive ahead of us we filled up the tank and headed north!!
