Ho Chi Minh City

We’ve arrived! A long day of travelling for countries that aren’t far apart at all. Left our room at 6.15am and arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at 6pm. We had to sort out visas out which took about an hour before we could even go and collect our luggage - the school sorted most of it out luckily. Our transport was ready waiting for us which was great - and out onto the streets of Vietnam we went. Be prepared visitors..... it’s crazy!

First impressions are..... we love it! It’s certainly busier than Bangkok, but everywhere is so picturesque so far. There’s fairy lights everywhere, and lanterns and all the shops look so pretty. It’s is manic however.

The hotel we’re in for 3 nights is nice just what we need. We ventured out for dinner and found a very Vietnamese place. Live and learn - saying no meat in Vietnamese does not get you a vegetarian meal! That’ll be the first phrase I memorise. We ordered plenty so we still had a mini feast with some Vietnamese beers.

After we took a little stroll down the street and found a huge vegetarian cafe type place where I got some street food. Alex has been obsessed with ‘meat on a stick’ in Thailand so tonight it was my turn. I got another mini feast - ‘chicken on a stick’, wontons and some other swirly thing on a stick. The chicken concoction was hands down the nicest thing I’ve eaten in a month... and I’ve eaten some good food!

Alex just had a near heart attack because a tiny ghecko ran past the bed - never seen him move so fast! Suffice to say we have a visitor in our room.

Tomorrow we have 2 apartment viewings, fingers crossed. Stay tuned!
