We spent the day in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Our first stop there was Bear Lake, where we did the hike around Bear Lake, and then on to Nymph Lake. Unfortunately, there was a technical issue uploading the pictures of the morning and all were lost to the nethers of the interwebs.

These pictures represent the intense beauty of this park and we’re taken as we started the ascent on the Trail Ridge Road.

The sweeping vistas of the meadows on the lower end of the ascent were spectacular.

The higher we climbed, the more the snow capped peaks at higher elevations came into view.

Here we entered the Tundra. It’s above the tree line and is a very fragile environment. It seemed barren and desolate.

A great view of Forest Canyon.

Another fantastic view of Forest Canyon.

Elk grazing back at the bottom.

The snow still piled high at the Alpine Visitor’s Center near the highest point on the Trail Ridge Road. We passed that point, at 12,183 feet, just a minute or so before arriving at the Alpine Visitor’s Center. I’m 6’3”!
